I think it can go either way. i've seen both recommended --wait or get before...you never know what can happen to restrict or deny you from bfing, but the chances of that are small if you are really committed.
I bought now because I plan to pump when I go back to work. I want to give myself no excuses not to bf. I hope to be able to pump enough that DH can share with the feedings, especially when I go back to work.
I also figure since I bought a used pump, I can always resell it on Craigslist if I need to.
Turns out the pump I bought had only been used 2 times! She said she just couldn't get into it. So I shouldn't have to worry too much about the non-closed system thing...hopefully. They had all the accesories at BRU except the tubes, so I have to find those somewhere...
I found my tubes by doing an internet search on Medela Pump Replacement parts. I can't remember where now or I would send you the URL. Like yours, my pump was purchased by someone who tried it out and didn't like it, so I'm not worried about the non-closed system either. I probably didn't even need to buy the tubes as the ones that came with it were clean, but it made me feel much better about things.

...... sorry!
It is one of the dangers of hangin' with the moms though.
