5am: Admitted into Labor and Delivery
5:45am: Start Pitocin drip
8am: Water is broken (dilated to 3)
10am: Dilated to 4
11am: Epidural
12noon: Epidural finally starts to work
12:45pm: Dilated to 5
3:45pm: Dilated to "stretchy" 7
5:45pm: Epidural wears off. Between gallbladder and contractions, I couldn't take it. I tried. I had complete and total back labor and I hyperventilated because of the pain so had to wear an oxygen mask
6:30-ish: Re-injection of the epidural starts to kick in. Was a stretchy 9. OB asked me if I thought I could push. Pushed. Nothing. Upped the Pitocin.
7:30pm: Fully dilated, time to push. Lucas goes into distress while pushing. Someone else is in c-section OR, so my OB had me stop pushing until the OR was free in case they couldn't get his heartrate back up after one of the pushes.
8:15-pm-ish: OR clear, so we start pushing. Pushed for an hour, OB said they were "great pushes" and Lucas couldn't get past my pelvic bone.
9:15pm: OB makes call for c-section after 16 hours of labor.
9:30pm:... Epidural wore off again and I was a mess. Exhausted, could barely breathe from hyperventilating, etc... I was not a happy camper and started crying in the room.

Mr. Anesthesiologist man gave me lots of drugs, though...
10:04pm: Lucas James entered the world via c-section weighing in at
9lbs5oz with a length of 22".... I was bawling in the OR, I'll admit it.
1:25am: I finally, finally, finally got to see him up close and to hold him...

OB said I never would have been able to do a natural delivery and apologized for letting me labor so long...
Nurses did a great job getting pictures taken in the OR, even video-ed DH changing his first diaper for me to see!!
Picture time!!
First time I saw him

, he grabbed my finger and held on. Nurses kept saying "He knows his mommy!" and I started crying again.
Our first "family" picture...
Random shots of Lucas... including one showing him off all stretched out!
He's an incredibly laid back baby, he doesn't cry. He makes little gurgling noises that are adorable and I wish those would last forever, as I figure crying is in the future...
If he starts to get even a little bit fussy all you have to do is rub his head and he goes right back to sleep!!
