Congratulations December! :yay:Enjoy your new daughter!

Wow! I hope my delivery goes that smoothly!!

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics! I'll post the updated list tomorrow!

Congratulations December on your newest addition. Can't wait to see pictures. I hope you can find time for a few moments of rest too!

Jen

yay!!!

I too have discovered the joy that is cankles...just in time for capris and shorts...sigh...what are we supposed to do to relieve them?

The only thing I've figured out to really get it to go down (and not even all the way) is for DH to rub. It seems like increased circulation really helps. I could just be telling myself that to get a free foot rub, though. ;)
It's really only my left one, too. :confused3

I officially feel pregnant. DH had to help me out of the booth at the mexican restaurant tonight... and the pain in my lower back (left side, too, what is up with that?) was horrible.. I was definitely waddling back to the car.... I think I waaay overdid it packing yesterday and unpacking all day today. People wouldn't let me go up the stairs anymore, it was getting kinda annoying!
BUT! DH's contractor cousin came today and did the drywall that was left in the nursery, re-tiled our shower and ran a ground wire to our master bedroom so we can put a TV/DVD player up there. All done today!
All the boxes we had there are unpacked and my mom and her best friend totally cleaned the entire house and are coming back tomorrow to do a "go-over".... I feel incredibly lucky to have them! My dad put together all the furniture we had left, right down to the toilet roll thingie, and the contractor is coming tomorrow to run the lines for the washer/dryer into the laundry room we had him add a few months ago (he wanted to wait until the units were there to run the lines).... I'm so excited, I can't believe it all came together so quickly! One weekend and poof! we live there.

Internet is getting shut off here Wednesday and not turned on there until Saturday.. so if anyone thinks I went into labor early or anything, probably not... I know it's rare for me to go even a day without even being on here so wanted to give the heads up :rotfl:

december- yay!!! :lovestruc I can't wait to see pictures!! :cloud9:

Just dropping by to say I went back to work yesterday...6 weeks of maternity already gone :(

I will say though, it's nice to be at work and be able to bend ALL the way over to pick something up, and move things without asking for help....LOL

Katie Leigh was born on 5/14 at 1:23 pm. She weighed exactly 7 lbs, and was exactly 19 inches long! I'll tryto post some pics tomorrow, but here are the details!

I arrived at the hospital at 5:30 am on Thursday. It was almost 6 by the time we filled out the paperwork and got to the Labor/Delivery room. I fell in love with my nurse right away-her name was Tina, and you could tell she was a pro. The worst problems of the day came early. First, when they drew blood, my vein rolled, and the lady had to dig around. Then, when they tried to put the drip in, the 1st vein in my left hand blew. Then the lady stuck me in the vein right next to it, but the veins were too close, and blood started running out of my hand. Finally she stuck me in the right hand and it took!

They started the drip around 8, and before 9 my dr. came and broke my water. I immediately started to feel a dull cramping, and my nurse lined up my epidural. The dr. doing them was in another room, and I was supposed to be next. An hour later, the contractions were 2 min. apart and getting really strong, and my nurse was obviously pissed! She called several times, and finally went and found the dr to come and do my epi. It was wonderful! With dd9, my epi hurt, and I had seizures a few days later. But with this one, after the initial stick and pressure of the meds, I felt immediate relief. I continued to feel the tightening of the contractions, but felt no more pain!

I continued to progress pretty consistently for the next few hours. Around noon, I started to feel some pressure. At 1:10, my nurse looked at the monitor, and said I think you are ready. I don't know how she knew, but she checked me and I was at 10 cm and 100% effaced. She called my doctor, I pushed through 3 contractions, and at 1:23 (how easy to remember!) Katie was here!

I didn't get to hold her, but I saw her up close, then dh took her to the nursery while I was being prepped for my tubal. Unfortunately, every baby in the state decided to be born that day, and there were so many C/S that they couldn't get me to an operating room. Over 2 hours after delivery, they finally brought her to me to nurse, but just as they were walking into the room, a room came ready! So I held her for about a min, then they had to take her back to the nursery again! They added more meds to my epi, and I dozed in and out during the tubal. I could hear the dr talking when I was awake, but never felt anything. It took about half an hour, then I went to a recovery room.

They brought the baby to me in recovery, a full 3 hours after delivery, to nurse for the 1st time. She was throwing a fit! She latched on easily and nursed great, and has ever since. She has only lost 5 oz since delivery, and the pediatrician at the hospital said they don't have to see her next week. I just have to take her for her 2 wk check up with our pedatrician.

Because the hospital was so full of women having babies, housecleaning couldn't keep up with the rooms. I got put back in my L/D room until 11:30 that night. The rooms have changed alot since my other kids were born! Before, they were just regular hospital looking rooms. Now, the rooms are suites, with a sleeper sofa for dh and a huge whirlpool tub! That thing was heavenly! I could have stayed another day just to use that tub again.

We were released this morning, and we've been home for about 4 hours. Ds11 and dd9 are at my mil's, so we have another day of bonding before the excitement really starts! She doesn't like her bed very much, but is happy when she is skin to skin with me. We both just took a nap after nursing. She is napping in the bed right beside me now. She is beautiful! I'm so glad dh talked me into having one more! Now I can't imagine my family without her!

awww...just wanted to say congrats!! Its always impossible to imagine life prior to your new baby!! Soo sweet!!

I am jealous they did your tubal right away tho..my dr wont' perform them until after the 6 week check up ....which I have yet to do!! :scared1:
DBF isn't allowed to TOUCH me.....we are too fertile.>>LOL

OK, sorry for taking so long to get back to you guys.
I've been really overwhelmed with this whole L&D and being a new mom thing.

Anyways here's our story and I'll white out the really crappy part so the mom to bes who don't want to read it can skip that part.

Last saturday started out as usual. We were still in the process of getting the house cleaned out for my family to come visit once Violet arrives. And we were planning our strategy on what to do next. I haven't felt bad contractions yet and the wednesday prior at the doc's visit they said I was 3cm 60%. So I knew our little one was coming out pretty soon.
I even had a one sided conversation and told our baby that this weekend would be perfect because then DH can spend time with him/her longer :rotfl:

Around 11:40ish we took a break from cleaning and ate some cheese and crackers. And I took a potty break afterwards walked into my bedroom and suddenly felt something leaking... I thought "What the heck? Did I just pee my pants?.. I JUST came out of the bathroom too..." AND then it hit me and I yelled for my DH "I THINK MY WATER BROKE!!!".
DH practically ran upstairs and said "OK, I'll go get ready now...".

We both haven't taken a shower yet so we took the shortest showers we've known and of course by that time my water decided to gush out... I had to stand in the tub for a good bit before I can even put my clothes on.

Walked to the car, put plastic trash bag and towel on the seat (heck, I don't want to have to clean up the car when we come home!) and off we go!

Walking from the parking lot to the hospital was kinda embarrassing because I started gushing again. And man... was I leaking... I looked like I peed my pants again :lmao: Oh well...

The L&D dept was thankfully slow that day, so they put us in the observation room and strapped me to the monitors after asking for pee and stuff. I was still leaking so much that I can't tell whether I actually peed or just giving them amniotic fluid. :rolleyes1

They checked some stuff, called the on-call doctor and moved us to the L&D room. The room is very cool and we got a really nice day nurse. She told me that the doctor wanted me on pitocin to get my labor going. I said "I want epidural!" ... :rotfl2:

So here we are, I am hooked to IV, pitocin, monitors, etc... and my thought was "What if I need to go use potty?" hehe... Of course I had to take my IV/pitocin/stand with me... which I had named Wilma (don't ask).

We were both hungry by then since we haven't really had lunch yet. Apparently I can only have clear stuff... jello, broth or orange sherbert. I picked jello. DH had to feed it to me because I was hooked up to so many things... hehehe... Then he left to get our bags from the car and get his own lunch... lucky goose...

I was still pretty comfy the first several hours. I had only gone up to 4cm 80% when she checked me again and THEN the real contractions hit... And I hit my pain tolerance treshold. I was trying to breathe and not bruise DH hands at the same time but man it got harder and harder to the point where I started uncontrollably shaking. I just started crying when the epi doctor came. He rolled me on my side and gave me the wonderful meds. I felt my ears and eyes closing down apparently my blood pressure went dangerously low amd they had to pump in another med to stabilize me. Afterwards I felt a lot better even when they had to up my pitocin to get me contracting stronger. Better enough that we could talk about picking out a girl's name. We agreed on the boy's but we hadn't agreed on the girl's yet.

We talked about the names and nurses came in and out several times to check my progress and I pretty much blanked out on the numbers. Before the contractions came hard, they checked to see if I could go potty. I had about 4bags of IV and only went potty once before the epi. Since I can't go they had to do the catheter on me. It wasn't as bad as I thought because she gave me the in and out one. I didn't have to be hooked up to it since I was close to delivering.

Then contractions hit so hard that I couldn't breathe through it. Even my epi button didn't help. I went to the point where I started shaking from the pain and the nurse came in to check and said I was 9.5 with a little bit of cervix left. I was in so much pain that I just shook and shook and shook.
My regular nurse came in finally to ask me to push... I wish I had remembered the time I started pushing but I was so miserable that I didn't bother looking. All I can remember is that I pushed and pushed and pushed. The nurse tried to stretch me and stretch me while I'm pushing. I felt like I had to push forever. In our prenatal class they said that I would feel the urge to push. I swear I felt none of that. All I felt was pain... unbelievable amount of pain. In the middle of the delivery I started screaming just because I couldn't take it anymore. I started praying in my head and hoping for the baby to come out. By the time the baby was low enough for every body to see the head I've had enough and started saying “Why isn't it out yet?” over and over and over. DH wouldn't let me off the hook for that now...

I remembered watching The Baby Story on tv and seeing that once the baby's head is out they pretty much pull out the rest pretty quickly. I just started thinking about that and hoping it'll happen soon. The pressure when the baby's head is “right there” was excruciating to me. Nothing could have ever prepared me for it... If anyone were to tell me that, I probably would opt for C/S. Yes... I'm that much of a baby...

And then suddenly I felt the baby came out and OMG!!!! I heard one of the nurses said “IT'S A GIRL!!!! Delivered on May 10th at 00:01 – Happy Mother's Day”... They put the baby on my chest and kept saying “Look at your baby!” but I was so tired, in pain, shaking uncontrollably that I couldn't lift my head for more than a second at a time. The doctor ended up having to sew me up because I tore pretty well... 8lb baby... 19.5in... Pretty darn large considering I'm not too big to start with. The doctor stitched me up and it hurt ... delivered the placenta and then off he went. I asked him if I tore and he said “Yes, but we knew it was going to happen.” Which kinda p-o-ed me since he didn't try to do episiotomy. I think he came in too late to do it... urgh...

Afterwards I was still shaking so hard that I couldn't hold the baby yet. Then I had to go potty and the stuff that came out amazing... I swear no mom tells you these stuff because if they had, nobody would want to deliver a baby. I finally could hold my baby an hour after she was born and tried to breastfeed her... and to look at her face and fell in love with her for the first time... :lovestruc:cloud9:

I ended up staying in the hospital for an extra day because the stitches hurt so bad. So we came home on tuesday the 12th and I've been dealing with breastfeeding issues and stitch pain since... :sad2:

Anyways, that's our story... hope it didn't scare anyone too much. I didn't get the dreaded hemorroids but I did get crappy stitches...

Congrats to all the new mommies!!!

csceca---Believe me, you will forget the pain! God gives us this ability or we would never have more than one!!!:rotfl2: You did great!:goodvibes

cseca, I am so sorry you had to go through all that pain! Now I am really scared of delivery :rotfl: But I know it'll be worth it! And Violet is so precious! I know you're a proud mama :goodvibes

csceca, I'm so sorry you had such a hard birth story. My delivery with ds11 wasn't the best either, but it has gotten easier every time. I swear, it was so much easier this time that if they had taken a little while longer getting the OR ready I would have talked myself out of the tubal. Dh has been trying to talk me out of it for weeks.

After my epidural, I wasn't allowed up anymore. They deadened me up good! I couldn't even lift my left leg by myself-dh had to help me even change positions to get comfortable. So the nurse used the catheter on me several times. I never felt a thing though. I did have a small episiotomy, but no tears. I really think the dr. makes all the difference. I had a crappy weekend dr. with ds11, and my OB at the time with dd9. But I switched dr's with Katie (used a high risk OB since I'm older and had seizures after dd9) and he was WONDERFUL! From inducing 5 days early, to having the epidural ordered before the contractions got bad (even though the other dr took his sweet time getting there) to the delivery and tubal, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

The only thing I'm jealous of is that you got to eat! I couldn't have anything after midnight the night before-even water. They let me have some ice chips close to delivery and again after delivery, but only six small chips every half hour. I think that was because of the tubal. I ate supper at 7pm Wed night, and drank some tea before bed that night. Around 6 Thu night the nurse brought me a diet coke (it was SO GOOD), and some menus from local restaurants. She told me that after all I'd been through, I needed something besides what the cafeteria was serving:rotfl:. My mil went to Applebees and brought me back a salad, steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes, and sweet tea around 7pm. OMG-I think that was the best meal I've ever eaten!!!!!!!!!!

I was still leaking so much that I can't tell whether I actually peed or just giving them amniotic fluid. :rolleyes1

I have to say, you're story was pretty scary, but man is that cutie worth it or what?! She is amazing!

Have you gotten past the bfing issues? Feeling better?

I'll be updating the list in a bit...i have it saved on a different computer...it's much easier than going back through all the old posts...

Alright, I'm about to break down and actually buy some maternity shirts...I've got a few T-shirts, but I really need some more stuff--I hate wearing the same thing all of the time!

Anyone found any good deals lately? Or any non-maternity styles that work? I'm thinking about looking through the clearance for plus size clothes in certain styles, but I don't know if the length will be enough.

I'm too cheap to spend $20+ for a shirt I can only wear a couple more months!

So worth the wait...Violet is just to precious!!!!

Congratulations & much happiness to you all.

cseca, I am so sorry you had to go through all that pain! Now I am really scared of delivery :rotfl: But I know it'll be worth it! And Violet is so precious! I know you're a proud mama :goodvibes

Thanks Ann and HomeSweetDisney!
I am actually pretty impressed that I didn't pass out during the whole L&D... :rotfl:

Oh, the epidural worked like magic. The other weird thing was that my legs felt tingly (like they're asleep) for a good while. It did wear off after some time tho.

And the on call doctor apparently didn't care whether I eat before delivery or not. But the nurse warned me that the epidural might make me nauseated. So I had to be careful... no dairy product or solids.

Ugh... I know what you mean about eating after the delivery...BUT... after the stitches I was SO scared to go to the bathroom that I refused to eat. And thank goodness too because the first 2 days were just painful to even remember.

I really hope that you are right about it getting easier the second time around...

:lmao::lmao::rotfl2:

I have to say, you're story was pretty scary, but man is that cutie worth it or what?! She is amazing!

Thank you so much Sarah!
She is adorable... but then again I'm biased... :lmao:

Well she eats like a fiend... seriously. I would bf continuously all day if I'd let her. I just got off bf-ing her (just now) after about close to 2 hours... with a 15min break in between. My ****s are very VERY sore and DH finally trumped my decision to continue bf-ing for the night and gave her a bit of formula. Because of her appetite we had to supplement or I would be sitting 20hrs a day bf-ing her.
Wednesday is her ped appt. I'm going to ask if this is normal...

Congrats!!! She is do gorgeous!!!

Violet is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lovestruc

...

Thanks you guys! :)
