Wow, we're pretty close! I'm 39 years old & just hit the 38 week mark yesterday. This is my first, a girl! :lovestruc

Another AMA here! I am 18 days away from my delivery date for my 2nd boy. My first is 16 months...will be exactly 17 months if I deliver on the 4th. I was 2 months into 40 for the birth of my first son and will be 41 for the birth of my 2nd son!

Happy to see all the AMA mama's....but man, I hate that term...LOL

Hello everyone!

Had a busy weekend. My final shower (yay!) was yesterday. My mom went all out and it was really nice. It was outdoors and the weather was awesome!

DH finished the mural in Lily's room today, so hopefully I can post pics of that tomorrow. We're going to BRU tomorrow night to buy the travel system (with coupons), a monitor and other stuff we didn't get.

Questions: Anyone buy a really nice breast pump? I think we might just rent one from the hospital since it seems like nothing under $200 gets good reviews...

And crib matresses...is it okay to have a gap on the sides? I thought they were supposed to fit very snuggly, but the one we got has about 1 inch gaps to either side?

The mattress is supposed to fit snugly. Here is a website about crib safety:http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/5030.html

My Dr. has never even mentioned C-section as an option. Should I take this as a good thing that everything is going smoothly and no concerns. I wonder if she will bring it up this week if I have made no progress. Stupid me I forgot to ask last week how big she thought she was going to be.

I would take it as a good sign. She didn't mention anything to me until last week, I was at 37 weeks. I was told then at my next visit (which was today) that if I had still made no progress that she would talk about my options. I was still the same today, no progress. I was stold that I could be admitted the night before and she would start a pitocin drip. If my water did not break, then she would break it in the morning and then she would give me about 8 hours. If still nothing, then a c-section would happen. The doctor thought with my scar tissue and the shape of my pelvis, chances were that I would have a c-section anyway. We went ahead and just scheduled the c for Thursday. I'll be a day shy of 39 weeks. Good luck at your app't on Thursday. :cheer2: I guess my bikini days will be behind me now.:lmao:

Thanks...I just found that site on my own too :thumbsup2

The mattress is the standard mattress size (exactly)and it fits the bottom of the crib perfectly, but the crib has its own gap...this is so hard to explain!

The board where the mattress sites has a border around the whole rectangle that is maybe about an inch? The mattress fits inside that border perfectly, but it causes the gap between the mattress and the walls of the crib. Dh said he can barely squeeze two fingers between...so I guess it's okay...it just seems big to me, like I could see a little hand or foot falling between...but maybe not by the time she's moving around in the crib? Ack!

To give you all a bit of brighter news...there is another label after AMA....it is Geriatric Pregnancy:scared1:....once I heard that one...I was pretty ok with the AMA label. I think my doctor said it was for older than 45....

So, it could be worse!!!!!:rotfl:

it is Geriatric Pregnancy:scared1:....

I am walking like a geriatric patient right about now!!!:lmao:
I am don't have to worry about that term, I am having a tubal while I am in the hospital.

PAtsy your little guy is so darn handsome, what a beautiful baby!!!

I can definitely understanding getting teary over that! Heck, I let my parents take Lucas Saturday night and missed him just that one night.. and I know he didn't miss me.

Thanks. :goodvibes

I know! Where did the time go? :confused3 I can't believe I'm only six weeks away from Jacob being here.

I was thinking about that yesterday too. When I first joined this thread I was only about 9 weeks along...now so many have had their babies and soon me and Sarah and a few others are going to be off the list as well.

But just remember, we have formed some great friendships here and even if we aren't on the Mom's To Be thread anymore we can still talk all the time through the New Mom's thread AND Facebook and Myspace too. Plus, we still have the mom's and kids WDW trip to plan for in a couple of years ;)

I can't wait to meet Lily, Jacob and Adi's little girl (Isabel? I think?) when we do our trip. We're totally doing it. :thumbsup2
(And of course Lily, Jacob and Isabel's mothers, too! ;))

...didn't get caught up all the way but my battery is dying. Eek!

Anyone else in? :woohoo:

Yucky. Emotionally I'm a lot better... I only get upset anymore because the pain is different now and I don't understand it. I felt so much better physically/emotionall and then yesterday I woke up with a ton of pain on my right side (right above where my incision is, to just below my ribcage... and occasional rolling pains that felt waaay too much like contractions for my personal comfort. They stopped at my belly button in a crampy mess that leaves me breathless.) Today I just have the cramps/rolling contraction like stuff and it's less frequent. It's very frustrating to me to feel as though I am backtracking on my recovery!
I keep getting fevers, too, so DH is pretty sure I'm overdoing it and bringing it on myself. My mom took a half day today to help me take Lucas to his pediatrician appointment and it exhausted me.
I feel like such a wuss! I never really thought about what a major surgery a c-section is!!

Hi All. I will reintroduce myself as well, since it has been so long since I posted. I actually read at least every other day but I do it on lunch at work and I don't sign in, therefore no posting. For those who do post often, you have been very informative and entertaining:thumbsup2 Welcome to all the newcomers to the board.

My name is Amy, 31, and I am actually scheduled for a repeat c-section on July 1st (39 weeks). My DH and I have a 3 and a half year old daughter, Madison, who is soooo excited to meet her baby sister. I work in HR at a major university (you will never be able to guess which one ;))

We have picked out a first name, Caramia. Mia will be her nickname. I am having trouble with a middle name though and would like some opinions if you don't mind. I would like to have Jo either as the middle name or first 2 letters of her middle name, the problem is our last name is Jones, so it sounds a little funny. Jo is my middle name, as well as my mom's middle name and my grandfather's name. My DH and I are needing some opinions (outside the family) so please let us know what you think. I can't believe we are 2 weeks out and haven't made a decision on the name!

I used a Medela pump in style, and it worked great... BUT.. The hospital pump I had worked WAY better. But its very expensive, at least here it is.. Like $300 for three months or something crazy like that!

Your pain could very well be due to healing and scar tissue formation (I am not a doctor, but am in the medical field). Also, if you are having any type of fever, you should call your doctor. There is always a risk for infection after any type of surgery- it is better to be safe than sorry. I had a v@****l delivery and was still told to call if I had a temp over 100.4.

I also have the medela pump n style. It is working great, but I havent gone back to work yet. I can get between 6-7 oz in about 10 minutes. I know they are really expensive, but from what I read if you plan on breast feeding for a period of time or if you plan on having another child then buying your own pump is usually more cost effective. I used a coupon and gift cards I got from my shower for mine.

I think Caramia Jo is a wonderful name. The Jones is a little tricky, but honestly, I like it! :thumbsup2

I've seen a bunch of them on Craigslist, so maybe I'll do that and just buy new hoses etc...
I'm just worried we'll buy one and then there will be a problem and we won't use it...

K I found 2 on Craigslist that I'm interested in. One is $120 and the other is $100. The $120 is the newest model, not sure about the other one. The$120 is the Advanced one that goes for $329. Hopefully this will work out and I can just buy the new hoses and accessories..
