Mommy...Why does Crush talk like you? Final thoughts and summary 10/15

Ok if us calling them peeps and jordan laughing about it and encouraging it then yeesh people need to back off!!!

In Chicago, you can get some good Chinese, and ina lot of the rest of the midwest. I was being food snobby and talkig about the small-town-strip-mall "chinese" joints.

Yeah, well, the bad place definitely qualified under that last description! I actually hardly ever get to the city to eat, but grew up eating local suburban Chinese. After a while, we mostly went to a restaurant owned by the parents of
one of my sister's best friends. Fortunately, it was pretty good.

I try to avoid Chinese restaurants that don't have any Chinese or other Asian people eating there - that tends to be a good indicator as to quality...

But, yeah, I know New Yorkers tend to gloss over everything not on the Coasts...I'm sure you've seen that map that is the New Yorker's view of the US or something like that?

I have had a few questions form people asking em about the origins of "Peeps".

I am an avid reader of Jordanyosh's PTr and TR,a nd would consider myself his friend. Jordan is Japanese-American, and as part of his trips, he likes to quietly blend in with Asian tour groups at WDW and unobtrusively take a picture with them. He calls Asian tourists his "peeps", and we, the readers of his PTR and TR have also come to call them "peeps" which is short for "Jordan's peeps".

Before I lef ton this trip, Jordan requested that I take a few "peeps pics" on my trip, and out of my friendship for him, I have done so.

I would prefer if you keep the "racially insensitive" PMs to yourselves.

Why does people have to be mean. If anyone read through your e-mails know that you werent being racially insensitive. What is wrong with people this week. I had a co-worker just come up to me on tuesday and tell me she hates me. Don't know where that came from but made me feel like crap all week as put a damper on the pre-trip festivities (leaving tonight for DISNEY). Then this morning i was walking from the bus to my buidling for work and a homeless man looked at me and called me som ver vulgar names like another name for a female dog. Mind you i was doing nothing but walking to my building for work. I feel for the homeless but come on do they have be mean and nasty. Well to get to my point (Sorry to rant) People need to keep comments like that to themselves. If they don't like it DONT READ the posts anymore.

I'm bummed to hear Yak & Yeti wasn't very good...we have ADRs for lunch there in November. I've heard several "Okay" reviews and only one rave review. Hopefully we'll either order things that happen to be good, or it will improve by November. And slow service...ugh, that is my biggest annoyance. I like it when my beverage never hits the bottom of the glass.

What is up with people? Sometimes I think people just troll these boards looking for places to be ugly and snarky and mean, ugh!

Sorry about the Y&Y--I want to try the CS mainly b/c none of the other CS at AK appeal to me. DD loves eggrolls and fried rice so as long as it's halfway edible we'll be okay. Love the look on Brianna's face; I've been known to take those type of pictures before of dd!

Hi!! Your trip report has me laughing! I love it! Your DD reminds me so much of mine. She can be a little stinker...but still so adorable.:goodvibes

I find the peeps stuff to be hilarious! I have read some of jordonyosh's tr ---that sucker is intimidating! It is two threads long!:faint: But, I think I may head over there and read some more. He is a funny dude.::yes:: Keep on scopin' the peeps and who cares what the haters say. I say block em!:thumbsup2

I am looking forward to more trip report!popcorn::

We had a similar experience at Yak and Yeti last Tuesday! :headache:

It was unfortunate because I was totally looking forward to it! Somehow, it was glaringly obvious to me that it wasn't Disney owned due to a snaffle we had about being seated.

I felt the same way about the food. Not bad, but not great.

Hopefully, they were still getting the kinks out. It's always hard when you go to a restaurant. So much of the experience is dependent on your server.

I have heard good things about the CS at Yak and Yeti. The fried rice was Ok, but I am spoiled when it comes to fried rice, because we have a place here that will fry it up right in front of you, and nothing can beat that.

WELCOME!!!

Yes, she is a little stinker. HHBG always says, "the cuter they are, the more they try to get away with" :rotfl2: So true. She has been on this "fighting sleep" kick for a while now, adn she is sooooo grumpy when she's tired. Bleh.

Have a little patience, Ed!! Update SOON.

I'm sorry you had a similar experience. :( I hope the rest of your trip was awesome!! I didn't even know you went. I am out of the loop right now!! Bleh. You got a TR?? feel free to pimp it. Maybe I'll even come over and read it. I am lurking on a few TRs that I came to late and haven't caught up on.

The rest of the trip was awesome for the most part aside from a few glitches (that's one of the reasons I love your TR -- you remind me a lot of myself :)).

I do have a TR -- well, a PTR that is about to become a TR in the next day or so. The link is in my siggie. :goodvibes So, if you skip all the PTR rambling, you'll just be in time for the start of the "real" story. ;)

Chapter 15: HHBG makes his wife VERY HAPPY

OK, it’s been 2 months since our trip, and I didn’t write down whether or not the kids actually napped or not, but I am going under the assumption that Brianna fell asleep an Spencer Probably did too, since that is what usually happened this trip. So....

We woke the kids up, got them dressed, and took them back to the Cub’s Den. Repeat drop off scenario from yesterday. CAAAN you FEEEELLL the LOOOOVE TOOONIIIGHT..... :sad2:

Wait....where was I......? Oh, yeah.

We hopped another cab over to the Yacht Club (HHBG has a thing for taking cabs....I have no idea why), walked through the lovely lobby (maybe we’ll stay there next time), and entered the back of Epcot. We were WAY early, something like 2 hours early, for our reservation, and the restaurant wasn’t even open yet. Since we could explore the lands, go into the shops and look around without having to worry about hyper toddlers and the “BUY ME THIS!!” wails, and go at our own pace, HHBG and I decided to wander the world showcase without the kids. This means, we took a LEFT upon entering Epcot.

I’m only going ot mention the countries we actually explored. I wrote out all of the countries originally, and the description was BORING, especially since we forgot the camera this night....

England was pretty, but HHBG’s twin brother lives in London, so we were pretty brief there. I did want to pick up some tea and a proper tea maker (or whatever it’s called) for loose tea, but HHBG said I could get one at home if I still wanted one....still haven’t gotten one. It’s just not the same when it’s not in England. Maybe if we go to see BIL again this year. Of course with the cost of flights right now.....OOF.

In Norway, we went itno the church, again, and read the Viking stories, but everything else we had looked at while we were waiting for dinner with the princesses, so we moved on quickly.

In China, I felt like I was in Chinatown in NYC. :) it was fun! HHBG and I went into the big shop in the back, that’s a bunch of smaller shops connected together. We found all kinds of fun little things, but we didn’t end up buying anything, because we didn’t want t o bring them home, especially when they were things we could buy in Chinatown.....of course, we haven’t been to Chinatown since before we went to WDW, but whatever. We’re weird.

We always love Germany. The little toy shop, the CANDY, the clocks, everything. We had to force ourselves NOT to buy the candy there. We LOVE Haribo gummy bears!! They are VERY BAD for our diets, and we knew if we bought them, we would end up eating them, and not have room for dinner.

In Japan, they have this little shop that’s full of what I like to call “toys for adults”. Lots of japanime figurines, action figures, gorgeous movie figurines. Great stuff. They also had all of these great books, and Japanese candy and stuff. Another country that was hard to walk out of. The Drum guys were playing too, so we watched them for a little while before wandering on.

Morocco was fun with all fo the little alleys leading to shops. I love me some kurta shirts and caftans, so eventually, HHBG had to drag me out of there. Before that happened though, he was reading the menu for restaurant Marrakesh. Apparently, next time we go to WDW, we need to go there to eat. :confused3

Finally, we were back in France. Now, in France, they have all of these little signs with notes about France on them. One of them has a scent for a famous perfume in France, Guerlain’s Samsara. It’s an awesome scent, and once I had smelled the little “smell it” thing, I wanted it. So, I dragged HHBG into the fancy perfume and cosmetics shop to look for it. They have LOTS of wonderful perfumes in that shop, and excellent sales people. The girl who ended up helping me was nice, and showed me a bunch of fragrances, since I LOOOOOVE perfume. One of the most gorgeous scents she showed me was one of Guerlain’s exclusive fragrances, “Plus que Jamais” (according to the internet, the translation is “Now, more than ever”, though the girl said it is “for ever and ever”...I don’t know French well enough yet to know which is correct).

“Plus Que Jamais” is a GORGEOUS scent. It must be, since it’s an exclusive scent only sold in a few locations, and is EXPENSIVE!! Oh, but the scent was lovely, and it worked with my body chemistry perfectly. It was my version of ZZUB’s Butter Grilled Pound Cake....(If you haven’t read that installment of ZZUB’s TR, do so. It’s great)

The “Plus Que Jamais” was VERY pricey being an exclusive designer perfume, so I went back to the Samsara, which is a lovely scent. I was going to ask HHBG to buy me a little bottle of it for Mother’s day, which was coming up. Instead, he turned to the girl and said, “we want one of the fancy bottles of the “Plus Que Jamais”

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint:

I almost died right there. The girl went and got the nice 4.2 oz. Bottle, and showed it to us. It’s an exclusive “Bee” design bottle, for those of you who know what that means. HHBG just pulled out his credit card and said, ring it up.

Oh...and she sprayed some of the sampler on my neck (It was already on my wrist), so I smelled all pretty, too!! I was in heaven!!

HHBG told me, the perfume was for Mother’s Day which was coming up, so I could not open the package (which he had gift wrapped) until Mother’s day. I was FINE with that!!

By the time we were done buying my awesome perfume (Which I am wearing right now...LOOOVE it!), it was time for us to check in for dinner.

Dinner was at Bistro De Paris. I was psyched for dinner. I believe I have already mentioned that I love French food. We checked in and were brought upstairs and seated very quickly. We had a lovely table next to the window overlooking the water. It was very nice. Our waiter was Ludovic, and he was wonderful.

Both HHBg and I got the Chef’s tasting with matched wines. This is the meal we had (I forget the wines, sorry).
Amuse bouche of Vichoisse followed by Foie Gras 2 ways (terrine and seared). Next was a dish of scallops for me and snapper for HHBG (I forget how they were prepared, but they were really good), then I had the breast of Duck and HHBG had the beef tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection. Then came the cheese plate, which was OK. And finally a selection of desserts.

During dinner a family was seated next to us. Since HHGb and I had goten the “tasting” version of the Cheese and dessert plates, we had been a little bit disappointed with the selection. Then we saw the a la carte versions of the two, which the table next to us ordered. Honestly,. The other table’s desserts AND cheeses looked better. I wonder why they sent out two of the same plates, wen it would have been easier to offer to send out the one dessert plate and one cheese plate from the a la carte menu for HHBG and I to share. We have had that offer in other restaurants, and always took them up on the offer. Instead of both of us getting a limited selection, we could try everything in sharing the plate. Just a suggestion, but it would have made our meal a little better.

HHBG was convinced that Flyign Fish is a better restaurant, but I was happy with what we got, and I always lean towards French food, so I would say the restaurant was on par with Flying fish.

During our dessert, the fireworks started. We could not hear the music from inside, but we could see the fireworks, which was really nice...well, except for the family sitting right next to us who all turned and watched over us the entire time and mumbled loud enough for us to hear, EVERY TIME I leaned over to say something to HHBG, because I was blocking the window and their view. It was kind of disconcerting. I didn’t want to keep them from watching the fireworks, and didn’t mind them watching them over uis, BUT if you are going to gripe about me having a conversation with my husband at MY DINNER TABLE because you want to see the fireworks better, do it AFTER dinner when I can’t hear you. Sheesh.

After our excellent meal, we walked out of the back of Epcot again, and wandered around the area back there by the beach club, Yacht club and Boardwalk. It was a nice little walk, and soon we were ready to grab a cab, go back to Wilderness Lodge, get the kids, and all go to sleep....after all, Brianna had an important appointment early tomorrow morning....

Coming Soon: The Little Mermaid and HAIR OF STEEL!!!

Going there now!!

Aww what a nice hubby. He (DH) never buys me anything. I think I will have to kick him when he gets home. I am glad you had a nice meal, sorry about the annoying people, they are everywhere these days. Its like no one grew up with manners anymore! Anyway I am off to make a list for He of things he can buy me so I dont have to be jealous! ;)

It's good though that they are willing to "let go" for a little while::yes::

Wait....where was I......? Oh, yeah.

I find that going hotel to hotel that cab is the best way to go::yes::

Great update, Angela.

About dropping off the kids, I dropped my DD7 off at camp yesterday afternoon for two nights. She barely stopped talking with her friends long enough to give me a hug goodbye! I know she's going to have a great time, but I can't help being a bit sad that she won't miss me. :sad1: But then again, I'd be a little upset if I had to go down and pick her up early because she was too homesick! :worried: So, I guess it's a good thing that they aren't upset. It means that they're secure in the fact that you'll always come back for them (even when you really don't want to!). :rotfl:

perfume you say :stir: ehh, might be a good present for DW when we go back this christmas.
