*Mommy & Me & the Mouse! A Christmas Time PTR!!*

So I realized I have not given many details about DD or myself. I've stated that I am a single mommy. My not-so-DH and I are still going through our divorce. It has been going on for over a year now. Ugg! DD and I live with my parents. Well, make that my parents, brother, grandma and uncle. We are quite the full house.

With so many people in the house, and the fact that I am also a working mother, and Lily going to her dad's every other weekend and hanging out over there every other week night for a few hours, it is VERY hard for me to get quality time alone with my only daughter. My whole life, I wanted nothing more than to be a wife and a mother. I found myself wanting 4 or 5 kids. Well, the marriage thing didn't work out so well, and towards the end of it I had two miscarriages. So, it looks like it will be just me and Lily...and everyone else in my family.

As you can imagine, living with my parents can be very helpful at times, and also very frustrating at other times. DD is the ONLY grandchild...and she's a little princess...and she resembles me when I was a child...so "No" is not something she hears from them often. I am usually "the bad guy", which can be very frustrating. But also very good when I realize that even though I am the one who has to say no, she still loves me.

So, unbeknownst to anyone in this house, or even my closest friends, I have booked this trip for DD and myself. :scared1:

I am dying for alone time with her. Something that will leave her with a defined memory of me if something should ever happen to me. We rarely go anywhere alone. Even vacations have always included not only my immediate family, but also about a half dozen of our friends plus their children. This can be fun...but after 6 or so years of organized chaos, it can get a little over whelming. :headache:

So this trip is more than a trip. It's a quest. A sanctuary. A bond builder. A test of my skills. A memory maker. A magic carpet ride for DD and myself. :wizard:

...now if I can just figure out a way to explain this to my family and friends without getting killed. :confused3 :lmao:

Alright. Some more progress has been made on the ADR's. I got us in to 'Ohana breakfast at the Poly. I am SO EXCITED to see the Poly. It has been my dream resort FOR-EH-VER! Well that and, when I was younger, the GF. (since that was the one they always featured in TV shows like when the cast of Full House went to WDW)

Anyway, as my ticker has let me know, I have 3 months, 2 weeks and 4 days until our trip. Somehow...that seems like eternity. Funny, but the reality of this trip still hasn't hit me yet. I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that we actually are going. I actually am taking my little Squinky on a mother/daughter trip to Disney World! And at Christmas time! My absolute favorite!!!

:wizard: :santa:

How awesome that you have booked this trip for just the two of you! You guys totally need this time without everyone else around!

And that Full House episode is going to be on soon! I don't remember it so I have the DVR all set up to record!

Aww man. I haven't been on the boards in a while and I missed this. Waaa.

So, as the days draw closer, and my divorce drags on, my not-so-DH is trying to find ways to sabotage this trip. I am having such anxiety about it that some nights I cannot sleep and it plagues my thoughts during the day. One of my fears is that, since he has access to the DVC, he will call and cancel our reservation the day Lily and I are leaving. I'm praying to the good Lord above that the man would not do such a thing and leave his daughter with nowhere to stay in Florida in December. I'm also praying that he does not try to have the trip canceled altogether during our upcoming trial date. I am so afraid. he's been so difficult about it and about every little thing he can find to nit pick me about lately. I am so upset and saddened that his gloom is casting a dark shadow over what should be a joyous occasion for my DD and I to share.

Woo hoo!! I called in and was able to get ADR's for the Chip and Dale Garden Grill buffet. Yaaaay! I got them on a day when I don't really have anything planned. It's on like day 4 of the trip. I have heard of people pushing themselves too hard and hitting a wall a few days in. One TR had the mom and dd getting ill and staying the night in. So, I decided that somewhere in the middle, we could just take it easy. I booked us breakfast at 1900 PF. Figuring we could eat and check out the gingerbread house at GF. DD is excited to see that. She knows it from the Samantha Brown video we have on her iTouch. I figured we could take the day to check out decorations at various resorts or hang out at DTD. It is all going to depend on the weather for this trip.

Which reminds me...I need to get some golashes and rain coats for us.

I'm joining in! Your vacation sounds like so much fun! My mom and I go on a mother-daughter trip every year and it's some of my favorite memories! I hope everything works out for the best before then! Also, I think you guys will love the 'Ohana breakfast, it's one of my favorites.

P.S. we're going around the same time as you and your daughter if you want to check out my PTR, we can help each other plan

Ooh! Yaaay! Heading over. :wizard:

So I think I suck at PTR's. :lmao: Hopefully I will be better at the actual TR. Tonight I went to Barnes and Nobel and bought the Birnbaum Guide 2010 WDW book. I had a bag I was carrying around with me everywhere for MONTHS that had everything in it. A different planning book, a calendar with notes scribble in different dates, reservation numbers....everything. Well, the darn thing is lost. I don't know where it could be. :confused3 Thankfully, I have several apps on my iTouch that I had already entered my ARD's into, so I have that important info. :woohoo:

I'm enjoying a nice morning. I woke up early for some reason. DD is with her dad this weekend. You'd think I'd be sleeping in. I went to Starbucks (something I rarely do, because I am not a coffee drinker. Any respectable coffee drinker would call the concoction I have them cook up for me pure blasphemy), made a quick call to DVC to try and switch my resort from SS to...ANYthing else, asked about upgrading to a Premier Passport. Now I am listening to DIS Radio while I deconstruct Mickey Head paint swatches from HD. Not quite sure yet what I'm going to do with them, but I do know they need to come off these cards.

The colors I have swipped are Alien Green, Mouse Ears (black), Gamma Sector Green (for my Xmas trip), Mickey's Pants (again for our Xmas trip), Orange Blast (for our MHP @ DL in October)and Behr Ultra Pure White...to mix in wherever I guess. I got these a long time ago. Not sure what I had in mind when I snagged them all.

So here's a funny story to share with everyone. It seems before every vacation, I get a jacked up hair cut. Because of the last disaster, I have not had my hair cut in 3 years. Seriously. So, naturally, the ends were getting a bit frayed. I have curly hair, so basically it was starting to look like a crazy rats nest at the ends.

I decide to go in yesterday and have "the dead ends trimmed off". Or so I though. I don't know what this lady was distracted with, but she seems to have not finished my hair cut. And I don't even understand where she was going with this....

Explain to me how these two sides match??? Because I'm not seeing it??

:scared1:

You will notice, that not only is one side incredibly shorter...it's not even all the way shorter!! She left a few long strands in the front!! :confused3 :headache: WTH?

So that was my hair wet. (the mass of my hair was pinned up in the back to showcase this crazy front job) Those of you with curly hair know what this means. Once it is dry, the short side will be TWICE as short and poofed out from the side of my head than the other side. It is so nuts. It looks like long bangs strictly on the side of my head.

With some creative clipping and parting and accessories, this is how I fix a bad haircut. Unfortunately, this is how I will have to style my hair for the next 14 months while it grows out(at it's incredibly slow rate).

Being able to find the humor in this situation, I am sharing with you all so you can have a good laugh this morning.
:surfweb: <--you guys enjoying your coffee...and my messed up hair.
:lmao:

Joining in. I love DD's picture in the snow white costume, she is too cute. I had a bad haircut about a yr ago that had me clipping back one side for about two months. I went in for a trim like you and came out with 4 inches of my hair cut and it wasn't even:scared1:. I literally cried on the way home, but it grew back. Maybe we had the same person work on our hair:lmao:. Seeing your post about the mickey heads made me realize I am running low. So, I think I may be heading there today:) Can't wait to hear more.

Joining in too. Your dd is gorgeous. Those pics in the snow white dress are awesome. A real princess!

I used the mickey heads for our countdown calendar. I remember going into home depot a few months before our first trip and grabbing some, I had the kids and dh grabbing them as well. I felt like a thief :lmao:

Well, I sure do hope everything works out with your "not-so dh" and the trip. I'm sure your dd is looking forward to it. I cannot wait to hear about Christmas at Disney!

OMG, I have curly hair and I totally know the nightmare it can be to have it cut and the massive consequences of a bad job... It looks really cute the way you pinned it up though! Is your daughter dressing up for MHP at DL?? My brother is going this Friday so I already put in a request for a shirt I saw that I want him to pick up for me!

Yes. We're both dressing up. She wants to go as Rapunzel and I am thinking of going as Slash from Guns N Roses. :lmao: :rotfl: I figured with the hair I have (HAD!!!) it would be easy. My mom taught me a trick a long time ago for dressing up as a pirate and donning fake stubble. Put a little Vaseline on your face and pat some coffee grinds on et voila...insta-stubble. I tried it one year when I went as an "Ugly Stepsister". It was hilarious. And my face smelled very caffeinated. :rotfl2:

HAHA you actually put coffee grinds on as whiskers :lmao:. How clever! I would have never thought of that! I can't wait to see pics of this years costumes! Is she going to be the new Disney Rapunzel or just a classic Rapunzel?? I can't wait for the new movie to come out!

New Disney. She has been SO excited about this new movie coming out. If I remember correctly, the day we go is the 1st day Rapunzel and Flynn will be in the park. She will flip out! :scared1: <---DD :rotfl:I just need to find a Slash-type hat and I'll be all set. I am excited to see how it will look when I pull it all together. :cool2:
