*Mommy & Me & the Mouse! A Christmas Time PTR!!*

I think you'll still be happy with the QS plan. Plus, without so many dining reservations, you'll get so much more park time!!!:cool1:

That is very true. I never really wanted ANY ADR's in the first place. I just wanted to go along with how we felt. This will most likely be better in the long run.

And now for the serious, if somewhat too personal portion of our PTR...

So, I've got this responsible adult (read "Grinch") co-worker who is trying to talk me out of taking DD back to WDW in Feb. When I mentioned it to him, he goes "Don't do it. How is she gonna go to college?"

And he has a point. I don't earn that much money. I don't have a degree in anything. I'm an executive administrative assistant/office manager (read "receptionist for a small company"). I live at home with my parents, I drive a hoopty, the fanciest restaurant I eat at on any sort of regular basis is Chuck E Cheese. I pay my bills but most times I do live paycheck to paycheck. I buy Lily what she needs, and when there is extra money I try and hand it over to Disney.

I myself had been having doubts about a second trip to Disney in my current situation. But, I always go back to "What if..."

What if something happens to me and I am left immobile for the remainder of my life? What if I suddenly became terminally ill? What if I don't get "the rest of my life" to do things like this with her? She'll be starting school in 2 years, and then it will be even more difficult to travel. Especially during times when things aren't TWICE as crowded :crowded: and TWICE as expensive!!

And no, I don't think that WDW is the ONLY place you can make great memories. I don't think that if you don't or can't take your child to WDW that you are a bad or unconcerned parent. Everyone has their priorities and for me, I want to travel with my daughter while I can. When I can't do it anymore, then I wont. As I've stated before, I don't get enough time with my daughter (especially with the two of us alone) so I want to make the time we do get worth remembering.

So, for now, I am going to take my daughter to Disney World and make as many happy memories there as I can. And I will try worry about crossing other bridges when I come to them. Am I irresponsible? Most likely. At the heart of everything, my DD is my lifeblood. I just don't want to be persecuted for wanting to take my little girl to Disney World while she is still a little girl.

So haters, keep your negative comments to yourself. I've got enough negativity surrounding me already and I don't need yours. These trips are nice reality breaks for the both of us. And who doesn't love a little break from reality? I think I'm a reality break junkie!!

Hi, I've been lurking. I want to give you something to throw back at your co-worker...Tell him she's smart & she's going to get a scholarship, or working your way through college builds character. My parents saved for us to go to college, but there just wasn't enough to make a dent in things. However, they instilled us with good work ethics & both my brother & I had multiple scholarship offers. Nothing was a full ride, but I got tuition paid at a school that was top ten in the nation for my degree. I lived at home & worked to pay the books & fees. That work experience put me ahead of the pack for jobs out of college.

So with college out of the way, the best things my parents did for us was to take vacations. Two vacations a year - once in the summer & once over Christmas. In the summer we camped, at Christmas we stayed with relatives (thank you relatives who live by Disney Land). They may have been cheapo budget vacations, but the memories they created are priceless.

Woo-hoo! I have lurkers!! :woohoo: And thank you for what you said. Those were my thoughts exactly. What if she gets a scholarship? What if she decides she doesn't want to go to college? What if I win the lottery? ( :worship: )

HI! Joining in!! We will be there in December as well (see my PTR in my siggy). We did the QS dining during our last quick trip and we were REALLY pleased with how many different types of food you could enjoy. Another really good perk with the kids was how quick it was to eat. No servers, tickets, table waiting, etc. HTH :goodvibes

Oh MAN you guys got the WL!!! I am so jealous. That is what I have been DYING to get for Xmas.

Thanks for the good notes about QS. I'm sure it will be a lot better without all the waiting. That would really irritate my 3 year old.

I was very happy with the QS plan when Jack and I went in September. We did pay OOP for Biergarten, which was worth it, and Jack was free since he was under 3. I just knew we needed one meal where we could sit down and rest (so I picked a buffet, silly me)

 I still have a few I haven't canceled yet. I know this will be my ONLY chance to go to Hoop Dee Doo. It really is too pricey a dinner to expect other people to want to pay for it, and not that I mind taking a break from everyone and going for a dinner with just DD and I, but that usually places unintentional guilt and stress on the group. So...this is my guilt free opportunity. :rotfl:

I LOVE this and can totally relate to it! I am also a single parent. Me & my DD take yearly mom/daughter trips, but we only started about 5 years ago. I was always kinda scared to travel far away, just the two of us. I agree with you about being able to take vacations NOW, before she starts school. We usually have to go during Spring Break, and it's so crowded, but we still love it. I always wish now that I could have taken her as a little girl. Well, she's a teen now, and we just love our trips together.

My favorite TR's are the mom/daughter ones!

 Thank you for the vote of confidence!! I need to find some more mother/daughter TR's. They are great! Especially the ones with little ones.

36 days until we leave to WDW and we got our Magical Express letter in the mail today. Woohooooo!!!! :woohoo:

Now, we only got 2 tags. Should there be more? Can you request more? HOW DO I GET MORE?!!?! I doubt Lily and I will need more, but still...I'm a little freaked that I don't have that option. :scared:

I think it's time to get the bags down and start throwing stuff in them. I've got a pile growing in the corner of shopping bags filled with things I have bought for the trip. Galoshes, new jacket for Lily, decorations for the room, etc.

:yay: It's getting close and I'm getting excited!!! Still a little in denial that it's actually happening though.

that's so exciting you got your DME mail! :yay: ... I think I've read on other websites, that you can just phone DME and request more luggage tags :thumbsup2
We don't get DME mail anymore :sad1: used to, but I guess the international mail costs got too much! now we just print off the confirmation email.. it works fine, but I did like getting that Mickey mail ;) hehe.

Hope you're having a good week! Know what you mean about being in 'denial' - I've been counting down to our trip since January.. doesn't seem right that now it's just 36 days away?! :wizard:

Emma princess: x

You can definitely get extras by calling. I just called and scheduled ours, and I asked for extras and she is sending us 2 per person. I know what you mean abotu buyin gstuff for the trip, I keep buying Jack little presents to take with us... I think they are going to take up more space than my clothes!

So, I think I have been taking advantage of the fact that the trip "seems" so far away. I'm getting lazy with my planning. I think that since I have now downgraded (and paid off) to the QS dining plan, I will be ordering some groceries thorough DVC to be delivered to the room. Some breakfast/snack type items. So, I need to get on picking those things out and calling them up. Or faxing it in or whatever.

Also, I need to maybe plan out my days better?? At least which days we'll be going to which parks. Since I no longer have oodles of ADR's tying me down, we are more free to do as we please.

Also, I need to get our shirts together. I've gotten some great DISigns from friends on the DIS that I need to print out and get to ironing. I should go look for shirts this weekend.

Let me see, what else? Oh! Maybe start getting the box together that I'll be shipping out to the resort early full of decorations and toys for DD's stocking each morning.

Hmmm, let's see....

Anything else??? :confused3

I know what you mean, I finally went through all out Disney stuff yesterday, all the presenst for Jack and all his travel gear etc, and got it all sorted, but I almost forgot to put our MVMCP tickets with the rest of our stuff :scared1: It made me realize I need a list!
