Mommmy & Daddy go to Disney World! *ALONE!* !!!6/30!!! Final thoughts!!!

Awesome update Melissa, i'm glad your trip there was quick and easy and uneventful!

The Poly is so beautiful, isn't it? :goodvibes

Yayyyy you made it there! Everytime I see pictures of the Poly it makes me want to stay there more and more, its just sooo beautiful. :cutie:

I can't believe you didnt like the Dole Whip! I've never had one but I'm going to try one in a few weeks when we go and I'm going to make sure to go for the swirl one :thumbsup2

Loving your report so far! Looking forward to more! DH and I are headed to WDW for a special adults only anniversary trip in May. (though we don't think we're going to tell our DD (4) where we're going...she's too young to understand!)

Great pictures Melissa, the Poly is beautiful.
I guess a plan ride would be uneventful without kids:laughing:
Did you take pictures of the room?

Thanks!! It was nice not to have to worry about any fidgety kiddos on the plane!! I did take soem pictures of the room later in the week, I was just so enthralled with the view on our first day that I didn't really care about the room!

It sounds heavenly to fly without the kids and to have empty seats around you to boot. Wow!

It was sooo much more relaxing!! DH doesn't like to fly. When it's all of us I think the kids kind of feed off his anxiety a little and get nervous themselves! Not to mention Johnny, our 6 year, gets air sick! :scared1: It was super nice to have to worry about that!

Stop it, we are going to do a couples massage and we are doing Deluxe Dining and horseback riding and a carriage ride and Around the World (segway) tour. I am staying DVC, so does that count me out for Platinum plan?

Yeah I figure that since I won't have seen much of him for months, even if it's so busy that I don't leave my beautiful new BLT studio... I'll just be bummed I didn't get a 1BR. With the monorail there and the ability to just wander, I think we'll be okay!

Great update-- I can't even wait to stay at the Poly!!!! Love the pictures!

I'm not sure about DVC and the platinum plan, although I'm intrigued to find out. I will tell you it was one heck of a lot of food! We refused desert serveral times even though it was included, we just couldn't eat that much!

Is your room at BLT MK view :cloud9:? I would love to stay in one of those rooms!!! That's definitely something we'll do in the future! ;)

Awesome update Melissa, i'm glad your trip there was quick and easy and uneventful!

The Poly is so beautiful, isn't it? :goodvibes

I really feel in love with Poly!! It's so beautiful and tranquil!! :cloud9:

Poly is soooo beautiful! You definitely have to stay there in the future! It's perfect for say a honeymoon ;)

I was totally not into that dole whip! I love pineapple too! I don't know! I think the mix with vanilla maybe better, I'm going to give that a try next time!

Loving your report so far! Looking forward to more! DH and I are headed to WDW for a special adults only anniversary trip in May. (though we don't think we're going to tell our DD (4) where we're going...she's too young to understand!)

Thanks for joining in!! We thought about not telling the kids but DD is too smart and would have figured it out. We can't keep a secret around her! They were really fine with it though!

popcorn:: joining in popcorn::

Thanks for joining in!! More to come soon!!

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to let you know I didn't forget about my TR! I'm hoping to post another update later today!

It's been a busy few days and now the big kiddos are on school vacation until the Tuesday after Easter! they have a total of 11 days off of school! WOW!

We have a few fun things going on today, our usual family Sunday breakfast, a trip few towns away to see a house MIL and FIL just renovated, a spin on a local carousel, an easter egg hunt, and dinner with MIL and FIL! Phew! But, then I hoping to have a second or 3 of peace to get a new update up!

I got my photopass CD yesterday! We didn't a lot of photos done but the CD was included in the package so we got it. The funny thing is that they say your photos expire 30 days from the day you first look at them on the photopass website. Well, when I went on to do our new photos all of our January pictures were there and all of our January pictures came on the CD! I did those pictures right after we came home so it's been 2 1/2 months!

Looking forward to the update whenever you can-- sounds like you have an awesome busy Easter break planned!!!

We are staying at BLT lake view because over NYE is SUCH a high point holiday that we can't afford MK view without borrowing points. Next time I stay in a more "off" time, namely not oen of the only big two holiday weeks, we're staying MK view. I ccan't wait!

I am looking forward to reading more. I always thought that I would celebrate my 25th anniv. at Disney with my husband...well, next year it will be 35...will I succeed then??? So, you see, I am totally enjoying your pictures and report...

I am so excited to read your trip report!

DH and I had our honeymoon at WDW at the Polynesian on the then "Deluxe Package" and loved it:goodvibes! We now have an almost 4 year old DD and have been 2x with her (with 3 more trips planned since we bought DVC) and DH is saying he can't think about going to WDW without her:confused3

Our 10 year anniversary is in 2011 and I'm trying to work on an adults only trip to the Poly again so I'm taking notes on your report:teacher:!

I am in also...after this trip we just took with the kids, we decided we didn't get to do what we wanted so I booked us a quicky trip on Memorial Day W/E. Can't wait to be alone...hasn't happened in 6 years.

Cheryl

I'm here and enjoying your report! As you know, we just have Henry, but that is a lot to deal with on the plane already--I cannot imagine three plus a husband who doesn't like to fly! Stressssssss!

Your view was beautiful!!!!! Someday I would love to stay at the Poly - it looks perfect for a Mommy/Daddy only getaway--very romantic!

I'm posting my update after this!

I'm sure an MK view room that week is like a million points! I'm sure the lake view is beautiful too!

I just finished the January trip - I can't wait to hear all about the grown up one! popcorn::

Does your Travel agent specialize in Disney?

Yippee! Thanks! I can't believe you read allllll that! :lmao:

She does specialize in Disney! She's great! I found her through another board :rolleyes1 and used her for the first time for January. I did it through a TA mainly because if a new deal comes out it easier to get the deal through a TA. All she had to do was do a quick change to the reservation. If I had booked myself I would have had to cancel and rebook. She also kept an eye out for anything that maybe pertain to us. She saved us a TON of money on both trips!

I am looking forward to reading more. I always thought that I would celebrate my 25th anniv. at Disney with my husband...well, next year it will be 35...will I succeed then??? So, you see, I am totally enjoying your pictures and report...

:lmao: I hope you succeed! I think you deserve GF MK view for the extra 10 years!!!

Thanks for joining in!

It was a totally different trip! Really, a completely different experience without the kiddos! I was a little apprehensive at first to go without them but it was great!!!!!

Thanks for joining in!

 for your alone trip!!! 6 years is a long time! DH and I have been away before, for wedding etc, but never more then 2 nights and not at all since the little one was born! It was very nice!

Thanks for joining in!!

Hi Brook!! Thanks for jumping over!!

If it wasn't for the fact that I know the we're goingto Disney World I would NOT get on a plane withthe kids! No way!! Especially with Ryan! The first time he flew we took his car seat, for January I bought a CARES harness. THe CARES was a lot easier then putting a giant Britax car seat in the seat and no had to lug the thing across the airport! It's still stressful though! I normally end up exhausted just from flying!

Poly is absolutely beautiful! I really feel in love with it! I think it's my favorite resort now!!

Day 1 part 3!

We took a quick Monorail ride over to MK! I just love the monorail! Ok, I don’t love the fact that it always smells funky, anything from a bandaid to stinky socks to BO. But, I love the convenience of it and the wonder of this completely different mode of transportation! It's so fun and so disney!!!

We got to MK and went quickly through security. Throughout the trip we had many instances when not having the kiddos with us made things a lot less stressful and a lot easier. Security and just getting into the parks was one of those. DH and I watch our kiddos like hawks, we’re are not the parents who let their kids wander. Our kids know that they must be within arms reach at all times. They know that if one of us clears our throat and holds our arm out that their too far away. Going into the parks and going through the security is always a feet of child wrangling know how! With just us I opened my bag and DH opened the camera bag and we breezed through! WOW! I swear we saved like 5 minutes at each security stop without the kids! Not to mention we kept the line moving instead of causing traffic!

Under the train station we went! I kid you not when I tell you DH headed for stroller rental! :lmao: No joke! DH is always in charge of getting the stroller while I stay to the side and out of peoples way with the kiddos! He started to go in and I said “Honey, where ya going?” He stopped, turned around and laughed! He did the same thing at least once more during the trip! :lmao::lmao:

Then we were on Main Street!!! I LOVE Main Street!! I could wander around for hours, looking at the buildings, gazing at the castle, people watching. AHHHH!

Then we stopped to take a few pictures! I may have forgetten to mention that when we landed in Orlando it was raining, but by the time we got to Poly it had stopped completely, it was a breezy and cloudy. You can see that by my castle pictures!

Moving along a bit we stopped to have our first photopass picture done! DH kinda grimaced and smirked. I told him he HAD to humor me and do this! He agreed! I think they came out cute!

Then it was off to ride some rides!! DH loves Buzz so we headed that way and got a fastpass. The return time was only an hour away so we discussed what our next move would be. We decided to go see Carousel of Progress!

Who would have thought that Carousel of Progress would be our first ride!?

DH outside of COP

I love COP! We do it every trip! I remember going as a kid and actually thinking it was very cool! I guess it’s kind of a nostalgia thing!

We took our spin thing Progress but when we got the scene in the 40’s (I think) that’s Halloween time Rovers tail was broken! OMG! The furry covering was off and laying on the floor! You could see the plastic piece that is his tail and some of the workings!

Well, of course that crowd laughed and whispered! I was kinda shocked that it was like that! The man in front of us pulled out the camera and started taking pictures. No big deal but he forgot the part about no flash photography and was using a giant SLR camera that took film. Has he not heard of digital photography?! The camera was soooo loud when the film advanced! It was soooo annoying! His wife nearly had a heart attack! She gave him the look of death and did something I thought only women in my family do, she talked through her clenched teeth! She told him in no uncertain terms to knock it off and what the he%& is the matter with you! Oh boy!!

After that we talked about what to do next and DH decided we should head to TTA. All I could think was how weird it was that our first 2 rides were 2 of the least popular attractions in the park. But we had a nice, quiet, relaxing ride. I love the part where you go through Space Mountain. You’ll never get me on SM so this is my only opportunity to see it! I wonder what they’re going to do when SM goes down for the big refurb! I guess they’ll put something on the windows.

After that we still had bit of time before our FP for Buzz was good so we headed to Fantasyland. We discussed going on the speedway alone the way but the wait was like 40 minutes, no thanks. We talked about Pooh, but again the wait was like 40 minutes, nope. So we decided to hit one of my very favorites, Mickey’s PhilHarMagic!!

I just love it!!! I love all the kiddos reaching for everything, I love the effects and scenery! After PhilHarMagic we browsed the shop and then decided to head to Buzz.

We were excited to ride together for the first time! Normally DH and I are split so the kiddos have Mommy and Daddy with them! I usually stink at Buzz and DH is the most competitive person in the entire world, its part of his DNA for some reason, so figured kick my butt.

Guess what happened?!

I kicked his butt! The whole ride he kept looking at my score going OMG! I guess I’m a lot better without a baby on my lap and a kiddo to worry about next to me! DH’s finally score was something around 265,000 mine was around 495,000! Yippeee for me! I tried to take photographic proof of his utter defeat figuring he would deny it but it didn’t come out! Oh well!

After Buzz we decided to head back to Poly and rest. We had a dinner reservation and fireworks to look forward to that night and wanted to be ready to go for the evening!

We walked toward Main Street and browsed the shops, we didn't buy anything though, and then headed for the Monorail!

Yay! Great update Melissa. Sounds like you and your DH had fun at the MK. Don't you just  the TTA!

Funny how much easier it is to play when you're not holding a baby lol!

What a nice relaxing morning at the MK! Who would of thought those would be your first 2 rides? :confused3

Congrats to you for kicking your DH's butt in Buzz! You just represented for all the women who lose to their men everytime on that ride!! :rotfl::thumbsup2

Day 1 part 3!

Nice update!!! Cute photopass pics with your hubby-- i've always wanted pictures like that!!!

COP and People mover are like my favorite rides next to space mountain so I probably would have done the same thing. Love the monorail-- sounds incredible.

Can't wait for more

PS that's really funny about your DH and the stroller!

So funny you whipped his butt on Buzz!

:cool1: I was soooo proud of myself! When we talked to the kids later that day I, of course, told them and they were so excited!!

Yay! Great update Melissa. Sounds like you and your DH had fun at the MK. Don't you just  the TTA!

Funny how much easier it is to play when you're not holding a baby lol!

:cloud9:I loved to look at the sites and sit back with the breeze in my face!

:lmao:I could actually try yo aim the gun instead of just randomly shooting!

What a nice relaxing morning at the MK! Who would of thought those would be your first 2 rides? :confused3

Congrats to you for kicking your DH's butt in Buzz! You just represented for all the women who lose to their men everytime on that ride!! :rotfl::thumbsup2

:confused3 Everyone runs to Space Mountain, Splash Mountain etc, not us! :rotfl:We aren'r rollercoaster people anyway, especially DH.

:woohoo: Thank you! LOL! I couldn't believe I beat him!!!

We love the COP and the Wedway thing....it always makes for a nice noon ride break for us right after an early lunch....gets us away from the crowds. We were just there at the end of March, and I don't remember the dogs tail. And that is funny about the stroller!!!! :lmao:
