"Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!" New 7/30 - pg 43 - Final Thoughts & PTR Link

I'm so excited!! :cool1: I knew all my DIS-friends would be proud of us for deciding on BWI!

As far as the beds go... we are a party of two so they may have assumed a king room would be good for us, but we've requested 2 queens so that's all we can do and hope for the best. I've shared beds with friends before and knowing Laura would be OK with that makes it OK with me. :thumbsup2

Did you request rooms with daybeds? I'd do that so they at least know what you want. Hopefully it will work out for all of us.

I did, for both rooms. I'm trying to figure out what ups my odds..online check in or "live" but early in the day. Also wondering if they will let us check in both rooms since one is in Sandie's name. I can check us in early, no idea when they will arrive since they are flying standby.

We want connecting so....

:confused3

I'll cross my fingers for you!!

I apologize in advance if I forget certain details from the trip from the this point forward… I have my notes, the photos & our receipts to refer back to, but I had only typed up my TR in Word up to this point. I’ll be winging it a bit to fill in the gaps of my notes.

Day Eight (Thursday, April 29th): Today was originally planned as our Epcot day, but when we found out Jeff, Karen, K (& J at the time) were coming we changed this to our resort day. Sine Jeff, Karen & K wanted to join us for a second park day, we went back to our original plan and decided to go to Epcot!

When we got up that morning we hung out for a little while then headed over to Epcot. On our walk from the parking lot we saw the Tron monorail:
100_0904.jpg

It was busy!
100_0906.jpg

100_0907.jpg

There were also a ton of school groups there. Many of the groups were music groups – there were little concerts going on in various places. We also saw a marching band at DHS the next day. This day there were also a ton of field trip groups there – one of the groups was an eighth grade graduation trip. It must be so fun to live near Orlando!

Once we made it through the huge line at bag check we headed right to Test Track. Karen & Nancy sat this one out.

The boys argued over who would be the “driver”. This is always an issue for us… there isn’t a steering wheel, but the boys think whoever is in the front left seat is the driver. In the past we’ve been able to convince Zach that there are other driver’s seats and he’s gone along with it… but not this time! We finally had it all worked out as we approached the pre-show area. We watched the cute little movie then nothing happened. Still nothing… Finally there was an announcement that the ride was closed due to technical difficulties. :headache: Alex was not happy! We made our way back out through the entrance and were handed FPs for later in the day. (This always happens when we are there with Jeff!)

Here is where I had a little temper tantrum… Nobody could decide what to do & the kids were cranky. We started walking toward The Seas to visit Nemo and everyone was dragging their feet… It was nice to check out the butterflies & some of the topiaries:

But now we needed to get moving! I just took off with Zach in the stroller and Alex speed walking to keep up. Tim sort of followed along with Nancy behind him. Karen, Jeff & K were wandering around aimlessly. Poor Nancy was trying to keep the group together, but I wasn’t having any part of it. I felt like we’d been at the park forever & my kids needed a ride! We got to the Seas & Tim couldn’t find his mother… He stayed outside to gather everyone up & I took the kids in to see Nemo. Finally a ride! But the crazy people next to me kept taking flash photos through the whole ride! Non-stop! As you can tell I was in a bad mood at this point & I almost said something to them… but being non-confrontational, I kept it to myself and grumbled our way through the ride. I was able to get a few non-flash shots in between their flashes:

After the ride we went back outside(so much for Crush) to find Tim & Nancy waiting. Jeff, Karen & K had decided to go over to the Land and were going to ride Living with the Land (they accidentally ended up seeing the Lion King thing instead). We were going to head there next so we could ride Soarin’ together. We headed that way & decided to check out Sunshine Seasons while we waited for Jeff & the gang. Unfortunately there didn’t seem to be anything there that Alex would eat. They sort of laughed at us when we asked if they sell chicken nuggets… apparently they don’t serve anything fried. Only healthy food there. We were all pretty grumpy now, so we headed to Soarin’ without Jeff & the gang. We figured we could ride again after if we caught up with them. After an always amazing ride over California we called Jeff… they were starting to head around the WS. I kind of felt relieved at that point that we could just focus on what we wanted/needed to do and catch up with them later. We decided it was time to eat something! Since we couldn’t get food for everyone at Sunshine Seasons we opted for snacks with a plan to eat once we reached the American Adventure. We got popcorn, pretzels & chips along with some drinks and everyone felt much better. :goodvibes My receipts say it was around 12:30… late for us to be eating… again! Lesson learned from two days in a row of being grumpy from a late lunch! And honestly… I think I was the grumpiest!

Continued next post...

Refreshed with fuller bellies we headed into the WS ourselves. The boys had masks to finish! First up, Canada – still eating my big pretzel, I didn’t take any pictures in Canada! We talked to Jeff again and they had tried to eat at Chefs of France but were told it would be a three hour wait! They ended up eating crepes! Next up for us was the U.K.

But before going inside we stopped at the pin cart & Nancy treated each of the boys to a pin – I can’t remember what they got though. I bought some locking backs – my receipt says it was almost 1:00.

We went in to get the masks stamped and saw no line to meet Tigger & Pooh:

After the UK we headed toward France:

(After seeing this picture I remember that Alex didn't get a pin, he got another Mickey stuffed animal to add to his collection. I'll try to remember to take a picture of all of his Mickey's to post later.)

We bumped into Jeff, Karen & K snacking on a park bench. It was 1:30… We made a plan to meet up later to try to catch Sergio in Italy at 2:30. Tim grabbed himself a chocolate crepe then we continued on our way to get the boys masks finished. Nancy stayed with Jeff, Karen & K… they went to see the movie in France. Next up for us was Morocco… once we dragged Zach away from the fountain:

I have to say that Morocco as beautifully themed! It was my first time in there & I thought it was gorgeous!

But before heading inside to get the masks stamped we ran into a PP photographer:

I love those photos!

The boys enjoyed this kidkot area:

While we were inside Zach really wanted this little flute thing… Alex was learning the recorder at school & never let Zach try it…

He was using his own money so we bought it. It was 1:45 and we still needed to eat and be in Italy for 2:30! I was determined to see Sergio!

Still more... continued next post!

After a quick stop in Japan it was off to find lunch:

100_0981.jpg

Yay… we made it to America!
100_0984.jpg

The boys were funny… they had been asking how to say hello in each of the countries. They asked the CM in America too! :lmao:

As we entered the Liberty Inn, we saw these guys finishing up their show:

100_0985.jpg

Finally time to eat! I think every school group at Epcot that day was eating lunch at Liberty Inn! It took forever for Tim to make it through the line! I took the boys to find a table. The boys practiced writing their names from the different countries:

Actually it looks like Alex was making some lists. ;)

Up next: Did we make it to Italy in time to see Sergio? Did my dream come true & Alex got to be in the show?

I don't blame you one bit for having a bit of a temper tantrum! I would have, too -- not getting anything done drives me nuts! Traveling in a large group can be so difficult sometimes.

Love that the boys asked at the American Pavilion how to say hello! Too funny!

Not getting anything done drives me nut & makes me nervous that the kids are going to freak out... they hadn't fully freaked out yet, but I knew it was a matter of time if I didn't get them on a ride.

And I vow to always eat lunch before noon from now on at Disney! ;)

Oh Amy, I would have had a tantrum too!

I think we all have at one point, SOOO frustrating and it's not just that you want to get moving, you are looking out for the little ones who are on the verge of their own tantrums.

Food, and eating it early enough, gets us in trouble too. I need to remember that this trip!

I definitely tend to have more tantrums when I'm hungry and when we are with the larger group. That's one reason we're hoping to do the Disney portion of our February/March trip alone... we'll see if that actually happens. :confused3

Found this on photobucket... thank you to whoever created it!

After a lazy morning we're finally going to get our 4th of July started! :cool1: Alex has decided that he wants to learn how to ride his bike without training wheels! Finally! He hasn't had any interest until recently... I've noticed him watching other kids his age, and much younger, on their bikes a lot lately.

Have a Happy 4th. everyone! :beach:

Though, I'd rather be in Disney! :disrocks:

Glad you picked your resort. I noticed you switched from POFQ to Boardwalk.
The walk from MK to Chef Mickey's is a great idea. W'ell remember that one for our next trip I'm sure.

That's funny about Zach & Alex asking how do you say hello in America.:rotfl:

After reading this I really think you should do the parks alone. I mean they sort of just took off to WS without you and were going to eat at Chefs' ???? :confused3 They live there and can go anytime....why wouldn't they stick to whatever you had planned for the boys.

Oh and by the way.....we all now drink to get thru Epcot (the most tantrum inducing park there is). A grey goose slushie is actually medicine.....I'll write you a Rx for the next trip! :lmao:

Happy Fourth of July, Amy! Love the Mickey clip art! Good luck to Alex learning to ride without training wheels!

Heidi, go ahead and write my Rx for a drink in World Showcase!

Charleston Princess, I see you all are going in 2 weeks!

Have fun and drink a few for us!

Oh Amy, I know how you felt not getting anything done and everyone just wandering around. DRIVES ME INSANE!! I am glad you took off with the boys to take them on rides, you did what you needed to do.

I also know what you mean about eating before noon, I tend to get cranky if we don't eat on a schedule :rotfl:. Loved the photopass pictures of the boys. I hope you got to see Sergio.

hello! im new to your TR and not quite caught up yet (im on page 11) but i wanted to pop by and say im really enjoying it! :goodvibes

Wow! Great updates!:thumbsup2 Sorry TT broke down.:sad2: But...you got some beautiful pictures of the Fairy Garden! The Tigger and Pooh pictures with the boys are adorable!:goodvibes It looks like they were having a lot of fun with their masks. We had wanted to make more time to do that on our trip but ran out of time. Oh well...there's always next trip!:thumbsup2 So cute about the boys asking how to say hello at the American Pavilion.:rotfl:

I hope you make it in time to see Sergio!!popcorn::

Oohh...I forgot to add...YAY! for deciding on BWI!!!

I'd rather be at Disney too... but can you imagine how hot & crowded it would have been at MK yesterday! :scared1:

Yes... we switched resorts to BWI!! :cool1: We were actually at POR... POFQ was my first choice but it was all sold out. But it all worked out in the end and we get to go deluxe!!

I recommend walking to/from Chef Mickey's!! :thumbsup2

I have no problem splitting up in the parks and letting everyone do what they want to do, but it just got too crazy that day! Part of the craziness is my fault though too... they always tell us to just do what we want, not change our plans for them, etc. But I always want to make sure they have a good time so I end up changing things around. Then they either don't realize I've changed things around for them or they don't appreciate it and then I get frustrated. If they end up coming along (which I hope they don't) I need to do a better job of just focusing on us.

Yes - they live there and can go anytime... but they don't. Which makes us think they don't really care to... they just do it to spend more time with us. So hopefully if Tim can explain it OK - they won't feel obligated to come. Or we can just get a one bedroom condo and they won't have a free place to stay. :rolleyes1

Hopefully you can give me my Rx in person soon! ;) I definitely should have been drinking that day!

Happy Fourth of July, Amy! Love the Mickey clip art! Good luck to Alex learning to ride without training wheels!

I guess the bike riding went OK... Alex says he's a 2 wheel rider now, Tim says not so much. :confused3

We are leaving in two weeks! I can't wait!

I will definitely drink a few for everyone!

Hi Tracy!! I knew my DIS-friends would be able to relate to my issues. :rolleyes1 I guess some people like to wander around aimlessly, but not me!

It's funny... the only days that we had any problems with not eating early enough were the two days Jeff was with us. I need to stop worrying about everyone else! :headache:

hello! im new to your TR and not quite caught up yet (im on page 11) but i wanted to pop by and say im really enjoying it! :goodvibes

Hi Angie! I highly recommend doing the masks! It was really nice to get inside each of the countries. The KP missions are great too because you get to spend a good chunk of time in a country. At first I didn't think I would like that they place most of the kidcot stations toward the back of each country, but it was a great way to see a littl bit of each one.

Thanks about BWI!! I'm very excited!!
