"Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!" New 7/30 - pg 43 - Final Thoughts & PTR Link

Day Two (Friday, April 23rd):

Jeff had to work today but not until noon so we spent the morning just hanging out at their house. We had pancakes for breakfast and just relaxed. Probably the most exciting thing that happened that morning is that Zach lost a tooth! Loose teeth drive him crazy so they always end up getting pulled out a little earlier than they should, which results in more blood than usual… Jeff’s not a big fan of blood.

After Jeff left for work (J & K had school), we went to the beach with Karen. We took a quick stop at the store to pick up a few more items including bread. On the way I made PB sandwiches in the back of the car. We arrived at the beach around 12:30 and the parking lot was full! We circled around and finally unloaded at the beach, then Karen took our car to a church nearby that allows parking for a $5 donation. It was so windy at the beach! Beach umbrellas were flying around & tipping over. We enjoyed playing in the sand & small waves for a couple hours then headed back to Jeff & Karen’s place. Karen texted J to have him come over and play basketball with Alex, but we couldn't get in touch with him?? :confused3 Alex was getting a little bit agitated because he had really wanted to play basketball with J, but there was still time before we headed to Orlando so he was managing OK.

Tim & I took the kids back to the pool while Karen ran out to get some food for dinner. We had a nice dinner then Karen & I ran back out to do an errand at Target… the tooth fairy needed a little help. :rolleyes1 When we got back, we got the kids to bed before Jeff got home from work… and it was a good thing because he didn’t come straight home after work… Remember how I mentioned that K was going to the Keys with her mom & grandmother? Well that left J home alone for the weekend… what often happens when a 17 year old high school senior has the house to himself? You guessed it… a party! He even skipped school! Jeff got a text from his ex, who had received a call from another parent. Jeff had to make a little stop by the house on his way home. I guess nobody was there when he got there, except J, but a bunch of kids had skipped school and had been hanging out there all day. I was surprised he didn’t drag J back to his house with him, but that’s his decision not mine…

Daily recap: Zach lost his tooth, we went to the beach & J had a party!

Sounds like you got lots of beach and pool time it this day! I guess why know now why J didn't answer that text,.....:rolleyes1

Geez! I was just going to switch to email so I could tell you about the IEP and the ticker.......:rotfl2:

It's never a dull moment with teenagers in the house.

I do hope that Alex wasn't too upset that he didn't get his B'ball game, but he did get to have some fun at the beach! :beach:

I am impressed that you were able to make PB&J sandwiches in the back of the car while it was going -- that would be a recipe for a great, big mess if I were doing it.

Sounds like a lovely day except for J throwing a party! You're right -- had it been me, I would have dragged his little self right back to my place. :sad2:

Happy Mother's Day, Amy!

I'm in...this is a very entertaining TR! Can't wait to hear what happens next! popcorn::

 A party ? oh boy...

I agree w/ CP on the pbj's in the car...impressive. Sounds like a perfect day in FL...minus the Mickey factor ;)

Great start to your trip report Amy! Glad to hear you guys had a good time at the beach despite the wind.

Wow! My dad would have killed me if I would have had a party when I was in high school without him knowing about it! :scared: J is one lucky dude!

The two upcomng trips sound so exciting! Have fun planning them! :goodvibes

Hi Amy! I'm in. I've kept myself away from the disboards for months...but I can resist no longer. Your TR looks great so far. :thumbsup2 You have a handsome family! Can't wait to read more.

Me and my memory...:rolleyes1 I forgot to mention earlier I believe I saw you twice from a distance on our HS day! (Not positive though ) When you arrived, before going through the turnstiles, did you and one of your sons head to the right and maybe sit down or put your bag down for a minute before getting in line. That was one time I thought I saw you. Another was a little after rope drop, my dad and I had went straight and rode R-N-R and TOT and were heading to Playhouse Disney to meet the others. I don't know the exact time, but it was a little before 9:30 and I thought I saw you, your husband and two sons looping in front the Hollywood Brown Derby away from Animation Courtyard. Does any of this sound familiar? If not, you have a look alike girl! :)

Sounds like you had fun at the beach. I need to tell Bill that since we have AP's we need to go back again in February :lmao:.

Hi Amy!:goodvibes

It sounds like the beach was fun...well except for the wind. Hmmm....a party huh? Well at least they figured out why he wasn't answering his text.:rolleyes1

Oh and Nick is the same way with a loose tooth...always pulling them out before they are ready to come out! But...on the brighter side Zach must have been pretty excited that the tooth fairy was going to visit him on vacation..what a bonus!;)

Alex was upset, but we planned to make up for it the next day.:goodvibes

Just PB, no J! That would be messy! ;)
The whole party thing threw us all off a bit, but I was surprised Jeff didn't drag him home. Maybe he was afraid he would kill him if he did! :scared1:

Thanks Julie! I had a great day! I hope you had a nice day too!

Yes, J is one lucky dude... I'm not sure what happened when his mother got home though... :rolleyes1

The boards have a way of sucking you back in, don't they?

Hmmm... what day would that have been? We had two mornings at DHS, Monday & Wednesday... We all headed to Will Call on Monday... On Wednesday Jeff & Karen headed to Will Call and the rest of us entered the park, heading toward the stroller rental area.

The second sighting is possible, I think we rode TSM then headed to Sunset Blvd on both mornings.

Sounds like you had fun at the beach. I need to tell Bill that since we have AP's we need to go back again in February :lmao:.

::yes:: Another trip in February sounds wonderful!

It was crazy windy at the beach!

I was glad Zach lost his tooth while we were at Jeff & Karen's. Back in 2007, Alex lost two teeth at WDW. I had made up t-shirts ahead of time that said, "I lost my tooth at WDW" and "My brother lost his tooth at WDW" with Chip on one and Dale on the other. Zach's loose tooth snuck up on us so I didn't have time to make any shirts. Luckily he didn't remember, and luckily he didn't lose his tooth at WDW! ;)

Before posting my next update I want to introduce you all to Zachary's new pet mouse, Umu. (He's named after one of Zach's Go-Go's Crazy Bones characters.)

I also want to wish everyone a belated Happy Mother's Day! I hope all of my favorite DIS-moms had a wonderful day yesterday. I had a lovely day starting with a little extra sleep. We got together with my mom & Tim's mom and all went out for pizza at a really cool wood fired oven pizza place about a half hour from our house. Then we stopped for ice cream on the way home. I don't have any pictures, but we shared some gifts as well. The boys do a fundraiser at school that turns their artwork into different items - Alex gave potholders & Zach gave dry erase boards, both with their artwork. The art teacher at our school does a great job helping them creat masterpieces that end up looking fantastic!

I do have a picture of the matted prints I ordered & framed...

There was one bit of drama yesterday... Umu actually isn't our first mouse... :rolleyes1 Last Tuesday we got two mice, Mosh & Boy. Well Boy was a bit aggressive. He never really liked being handled (we chose mice because the guy at the pet store said mice were probably the best small animals for little kids to handle). After a couple days he started getting too aggressive, attacking the Mosh. Yesterday it was really bad so we took Boy back to the pet store and got Umu. As the day went on, Mosh started to look worse & worse... apparently Boy really beat him up. Unfortunately, later in the day, Mosh died. :sad1: Zachary was very sad... We burried Mosh in the backyard. I'm glad we had Umu already. Zach decided he would rather just have one mouse for now.

I also want your input for my girls weekend... what are your favorite value & moderate resorts? I think I'd rather skip CBR since we stayed there last year. Laura has stayed at one of the PO resorts, I just can't remember which one... I'm not sure if she would want to stay at the same place again or try something new. I'm open to staying at POP again if we go value. What are you favorites? And why?

I hope to get my next update (day 3) posted tonight. :goodvibes
