What a lovely afternoon and evening with Jeff and Karen -- swimming, visiting, and ice cream for dessert are great ways to ease into vacation.

Too bad J's prom was the same weekend.

I totally get Alex's irrational fear of dogs. It must be related to the ASD.

We've had Aimee for, what? Four years? And yet Billy still yelps and gets frightened if she comes running toward him! If she approaches him slowly, however, he will pet her so nicely...

I kind of understand about your nephew and the prom. It's so hard for teens to choose family over friends (especially girlfriends!)

We had two cats from when Alex was born until we had to get rid of them on Zach's 1st birthday, Alex would have been almost 4. I'd had the cats since they were kittens, they were 10 & 12! All of a sudden he was scared to death of them. They never bit or scratched him, that we know of. In fact, he was always completely oblivious to their existence. He was learning to walk and they would rub up against him and knock him over... he still didn't notice them. I don't know if they rubbed up against him with their sharp teeth and scratched him or if he just noticed them one day, but it was almost overnight.

I was reluctant to put up a new ticker until I knew for sure... but it looks like I'm taking a long weekend in October with my good friend & neighbor, Laura! We haven't booked anything, but I'm 90% sure we will be doing so within the week. Not sure if/when they might be released, but I'm hoping for an AP room-only rate. Looks like we'll be there Thursday, 9/30 through either Sunday 10/3 or Monday 10/4. Not sure where yet... I'm sure it will be a value or moderate.

And the dates aren't set in stone for February so I might have to change it, but I wanted to put up that ticker too.

I’ve never heard of that before! Boo for your van being not up to standards!! Great idea to take pics before you left though. Aww cute pics of Zach walking the dog! Don’t worry, I wasn’t bored…yet! Thanks Tracy! I would love for Alex to get over his fear, not only so we could get a pet, but so he could function better... he was afraid to walk out of the garage to the car this morning because he was afraid our neighbor's cat was out there.

Yes - this wasn't our best rental car experience, but overall our trip got off to a good start.

New tickers are always good to have! You will love being at Disney in October especially if you plan on hitting the Food and Wine Festival!

We were there in October 2007 and got to experience MNSSHP and all of the fall decorations, but we didn't even step foot in the Epcot WS that year. I think it's a great time of year to visit... especially for an adults only trip!

Nathan also dislikes larger or small barky dogs...poor guy a few weeks ago when out delievering b-day invites a dog bounded out the door, scared him horribly and he fell off a 3ft stoop landed on his head. He had a nasty contusion and a trip to the ER plus a CAT scan...geez he is good though now.
