So while at DHS, A&J mentioned that they kind of wanted to go to Animal Kingdom. I hadn't planned on going there but decided on that I could easily change our Saturday plans. So instead of spending the day at DTD and going to the MK at night, we would separate during the day and go to DTD that night. The only problem was that I could not change our Morimoto reservation from lunch to dinner (even thru Open Table) so we had to change our dinner plans. More on that later.
I didn't really want to go to AK so DH and I went to MK. First up we decided to try breakfast at a place a couple of my Dis friends really enjoy - Grand Floridian Café.
First a pic of the beautiful rose ....
And the menu ...
Coffee for DH but tea for me ... loved the tea box ...
And my choice ...
I knew from reading Barb's (jabeads) previous reviews that I had to have the French toast ...
And from reading Brenda's (emmysmommys) that I could substitute and egg for the meat ....
My friends did not let me down! The French toast was crisp on the edges, light and fluffy in the middle and flavored with a hint of vanilla. French toast perfection! The egg was ok, a typical Disney scrambled egg But it served its job in giving me the protein I needed.
DH had the Eggs Benedict ...
O ... M ... G! This was sooooo good. Instead of ham it had thick cut bacon that was smokey and perfectly cooked so that it was cooked thru but still a bit chewy. The only 'complaint' was that the egg was cooked slightly more than we would have preferred but that was not enough to ruin the dish.
We also shared the crispy hashbrowns ...
These were also amazing. Hot, crispy ... perfect with a bit of salt!
Our server was Jared and he was really great. Some of the best service we had all trip. Such a great meal that we decided to go back on Monday with the kids!
After breakfast we headed to the MK. Because of the anticipated crowds, the parade ran twice at 11am and 3:30pm. We got there in time to get a spot at the train station to watch the first parade ...
Truly awesome!
During the afternoon we shared a couple of snacks ...
First Starbucks iced tea and a couple of cake pops ...
Such a yummy sweet treat. I don't know which I liked better, the birthday cake or the chocolate!
Quick pick of my favorite room in my favorite MK ride ...
And last snack ....
A cream cheese stuffed pretzel. Yum. Slightly sweet, warm cream cheese. One of my favorite snacks!
We had a truly perfect day. After it being super hot, humid and sticky on Friday it was mid 60's, sunny and breezy on Saturday.
Next up ... dinner in Disney Springs!
