Mom & Son eat the World! 11 days of DDP with tons of pics! Now Complete!

I totally agree with you about the Tonga Toast. Although I KNOW it is a favorite here on the board (causing me to try it on our last visit), it's not a favorite of mine. It was so sweet, that it made me sick, causing me to miss most of that day's outings and have to stay in our room.

And as for the Dole Whip...another board favorite....I WILL have one this time. I MUST....I MUST....:goodvibes Your pic looks so yummy!!!

DS loved the Tonga Toast and ate every bite without any issues (thank goodness). I enjoyed the piece that I had but wouldn't want a whole portion.

I love the Dole Whips. DS not so much. But he had most of the shake so it evened out. :goodvibes

Loving your latest reviews. California Grill looks amazing. I do like the Tonga Toast at Kona but agree ti is very sweet - last time I shared it with DD and 1/2 of it was more than enough for me.

Great reviews...making me want to do the deluxe dining plan the next time we go. We were thinking of just doing the counter service meal plan...but I think we will fork out the extra cash now.

I agree with your review of Tony's....we also have been several times and the service and food was a little sub par for the money they charge....but we had meal plan so eh.

Also, your son eats a nice variety of things. My son won't eat anything like he was shown! I wish i could get him to eat that well.

Awesome reviews and pics. I can't wait to try tutto italia in December and you now have me considering the Wave.

I could probably split an order with DS next time. But I did love the macadamia pineapple pancakes!

Yeah, if I had paid for Tony's out of pocket I would have been even more upset about the meal!

I say go for the Deluxe Plan! It was fabulous for us. We really enjoyed the midday air conditioned meal. My son was not nearly this adventurous a few years .. heck, even a year ago. He would always eat most meats but wanted them plain. He is really just now starting to realize that he likes different spices & sauces. Still doesn't eat very many veggies but we are getting there. Baby steps!

Definitely try the Wave! We were so pleasantly surprised!

THANK YOU all!

The Wave review was great! I was considering the lamb shank - did your son comment on how much actual meat is on the shank? Is there a lot of fat on it?

The flank looked good too, I share in your enthusiasm for the green stuff, I've been known to eat it by the spoonful more than a few times! :goodvibes

Thanks for more GREAT reviews! I am really enjoying them! This is sad but I wish I had realized Caseys had those little corndogs back a few years ago when I swear my son would only eat corn dogs and macaroni and cheese for a while! :rotfl2: Now that he's 15 he eats ANYTHING!

There was definitely some fat on it, but it seemed that he was pulling off quite a bit of meat. I know he wasn't hungry after eating it. I hope that helps!

:rotfl: It's funny, as a rule DS and I hate corndogs. The only place we eat them is from Casey's. We only tried them because the one trip we went with my brother in law (named Casey!) he got them and insisted we try them. Needless to say we ended up going to get our own order! But we have tried various corndogs outside of Disney and we hate them. :confused3

I have added the pricing info to my last reviews. Here are the pics from the top of the Contemporary ...

Just a wonderful place to watch Wishes!

Can you remind me where to go to experience this? 8th Floor?

Great update, The Wave sounds really good and I love the look of the desserts, even if all of them weren't quite up to scratch.

It's the 15th Floor. The escorted us up in the elevator for our dinner. I am not sure that they let you up unless you had reservations at Cali Grille on that day. It was a great experience, that's for sure!

After your review of the Wave I am so happy I snagged that ADR for our trip! We're staying at the Contemporary so I think we're going to try to get in there for a breakfast during our stay too.

I'm really enjoying your reviews. Keep them coming :thumbsup2

Thank you! I would love to hear your breakfast review when you get back!

the photos of the castle at night from CG are beautiful!!!

how disappointing, you didn't like all the Wave desserts - they looked really pretty, though!

WOW! You really put alot of work in for our pleasure!! I'm jealous, not going till April can't wait to EAT!

Your review of Tonga Toast, as well as a few other reviews saying similar things, have me re-thinking that I may go for the Big Kahuna, or just the pancakes during our breakfast in November. I do like sweets, but to a great extent. DH is planning on ordering the Tonga Toast, so I think I'll just snag a couple bites from him!

Wow, these reviews are great! :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing, I loved all the pics. The pictures from Spoodles looked really good. I've never thought about eating there, but I definitely will now! I'm also glad to hear that the Wave was good. Always nice to have another sit-down option in the MK area! :goodvibes

amazing reviews and you photo's from CG are totally fab:thumbsup2 you seem to be picking stuff off the menus that I would have :thumbsup2

Day 10 was our last full, non-travel day.

No breakfast scheduled for today. We did end up getting a muffin and a bottle of water from a snack cart by Test Track that did not take snack credits. Sorry, no picture. OOP cost - $5.10

Lunch was at San Angel Inn.

We had eaten here a few years ago for dinner and didn't 'love it'. But for the atmosphere we decided to try it again for lunch.

First they bring the chips and salsa

img_1694.jpg

For appetizers we both had the Sopa Azteca - Traditional tortilla soup with avocado, cheese and pasilla pepper

img_1695.jpg

img_1696.jpg

This was fantastic! You get a bowl of the tortilla strips, avocado & cheese and the server pours the broth into the bowl to 'make' it soup at the table. This rivaled The Wave for best soup of the trip.

Things kinda went downhill from here ... I don't see either of our entrees on the Allears menu. DS had a tenderloin/enchilada combo

img_1697.jpg

He liked the enchilada but the steak was somewhat flavorless.

I had what I think may have been a special that day. A different cut of steak and I cannot remember the name of the side. It was layers of tortilla, cheese and a tomatillo sauce.

img_1698.jpg

The side thing was good ... spicy but good. My steak was tough and somewhat fatty.

We didn't feel like dessert so we skipped it. I didn't realize it at the time but DS was on the verge of a nasty stomach bug:eek:

Total cost with 2 waters because they only had sweetened tea - $50.06

We walked around the WS and only made it to the boat launch by Morocco before DS started to feel a bit under the weather. Once we got across the water, we grabbed two iced teas from the McD ($5.10 oop) and sat for a bit. He felt a bit better and we wanted popcorn so we got

img_1706.jpg

Now we never really even saw the dream team the whole trip so we had kinda forgotten about the whole dream thing. Well, the girl that gave me the popcorn said it was "Mickey's Treat" and to enjoy! Very cool! :yay:
