Mom/Daughter Trip to MK & Wonder Cruise 3/12/09: TR starts on page 4

Now onto our Nassau day. Our dolphin excursion was scheduled to meet at 12:45pm, so we planned our day accordingly:

We ordered room service for breakfast and got ready to get off the ship as soon as we were allowed. We had planned to just go walk around & shop a little bit. We made our way to the straw market, shopped, and decided to go back to the ship & have lunch before our excursion. So, we ate our lunch, went back to the room to get ready, and went to our meeting place.

Great update but I can't take the suspense. Hope the dolphin pics are coming soon. Dolphins have been my favorite since I was a little girl. I've always dreamed of swimming with them or even just interacting with them. I really hope we can afford to do the dolphin excursion by the time we go in Oct.

Dolphin Excursion at Blue Lagoon

We met at our designated meeting place at 12:45pm. The CM checked our tickets, got us to sign consent forms, and then a lady from the excursion brought our bracelets to us. She said they usually do the bracelet thing once off the ship, but because it was hot, she wanted to take care of that before we left the ship. I thought that was really nice!

By the time we did all that & walked to our boat, it was about 1:30.
We took a small ferry type boat to Blue Lagoon Island. It was a very nice ride! The scenery was beautiful! It was kind of a long ride though, I think it took about 30 minutes. But it was OK with me because I really enjoyed it.

*A word of advice: Bring some water & snacks with you. We had brought bottled water from home with us anyway. The night before, we ordered breakfast room service and ordered some extra cereal (Froot Loops) to take with us, which was a great snack to hold us over until we got back onboard.*

So we arrived at the dolphin location. Everyone goes to the Dolphin "school" before they get started, which lasts about 20-30 minutes. Even if you're just doing the "dolphin observer", you go too. Then they divide you into groups of 6-10 people. Everyone gets suited up into life jackets (mandatory) and wet suits (optional).

If you're doing the observer (which I was), you go onto this elevated deck where you can watch all the action.

The dolphin swim lasted for about an hour. Everyone got to hug, kiss, dance with, and interact with the dolphin. The last boat back to the ship was leaving at 4:00pm, and the dolphin swim lasted until about 3:30, so we didn't have a lot of time left, but we did go into the gift shop and buy our photos.

My DD loved this excursion! I would definately recommend it. Before we went, I had debated because of the price ($199), but after some advice (thanks again to the Disboards!), I knew it would be worth it. I am so glad I let my DD do it. She loves dolphins and has always wanted to "meet" them.

Since it was after 5pm by the time we got back to the ship, we decided to skip the Toy Story show. We went to Pluto's for a quick burger, then went back to the room. DD was so tired. She showered, then napped!

We went to Animator's Palate that night for dinner. Our table was right by one of the changing picture screens. I was so looking forward to that particular dinner. I had my camera right by me, so everytime it changed, I took pics!
I didn't know that not only some of the screens change from black & white to color, but some of them change scenes. What a surprise!

***Funny story about our tablemates: It was a mom & son that were supposed to sit with us, but the first night at dinner, we were there first. They came in and the CM was showing them to our table, and clearly you could tell they have never cruised before because they didn't know about having to share a table!
She demanded in kind of a rude way, that she wanted to sit by themselves!
So the CM found them a table, and me & DD got to sit alone at our dinners, which was really nice because we got to catch up on all our fun times we wanted to talk about. It was really special!

So we had our own inside joke about it, and everytime we saw them around the ship, we just laughed!

We were actually shopping for DD for outfits. She found that black & white shirt for her, then SHE found & picked out the shirt for me. I really wanted black & white for the Animator's Palate anyway. (She's much more into fashion than I am, so she helped me with finding clothes.)
