Does anyone know from experience if the "nuts" used in it are peanuts or something else?

The dish sounds awesome, but I have a peanut sensitivity (so far not anaphylaxis level, but I do get wheezy and my lips and chin itch and burn) and googling recipes for "mole sauce" online shows about 50/50 between those with peanuts/peanut butter and those with almonds and/or pumpkin seeds.

(There are other options I see on the menu I can eat... that one just caught my eye until I saw "nuts", and I figured I'd ask ahead of time so I can be prepared to order something else.)

I don't know about the San Angel Inn recipe, but Mole generally is going to have peanuts and almonds in it.

I'm sorry, I don't know what nuts are used in the mole sauce. The best thing I can recommend is that you note a peanut allergy on your reservations, and tell your waiter once you are seated. They'll have the chef come out, and the chef will let you know what is and isn't safe for someone with a peanut sensitivity. The chefs at Disney are really terrific about it, very knowledgeable about their menus and about how to avoid allergens for guests who are concerned.

You can't say this enough!!! No matter how much any of us think we know about the ingredients, the hers know more. And they are happy to discuss foods that are safe to eat inside of thier restaurants.

My DH ( who has different allergies) ordered this recently, and although it did not taste like peanuts, but rather almond/pine nuts, you already know to ask. For what it's worth, he loved it, but later had an upset stomach, and I found it terribly strong with flavors that did not blend well. We loved all our other dishes here, though. They did handle allergies perfectly (we had 12 different allergies between 2 people in our party... Not easy!)

Again, thanks all! I have solved "the mole question" for myself by deciding to either go for lunch where the dish doesn't exist or to go to my fall-back Chefs de France. I would like to try some new places this trip though, so the fact that SAI is new to me is a big plus.

If you are a fan of Mole sauce, the one at San Angel is delicious. I do believe Disney has a number to call if you have allergies or special dietary needs. You may be to find it by googling it.
