Mojito Monkey Mama's 2 cont'd

I was a bit sleepless last night thinking about an off the cuff remark I made yesterday. Our Pooh is priceless and I would not want to offend her, or anyone else, anywhere let alone here. PLEASE understand that 99.9% of what I type is written with a smile or at least a sense of humor/irony and take it with a grain of salt?:)

Ants, in my younger days it was a joke in town because my name and number was down for a majority of the kids in the school in case of emergency and now I am on all of those life alert necklaces that my friends wear. As much as I enjoy helping others, as you do, it sometimes get a bit overwhelming though. I hope your neighbor was alright and you did not have to spend the night in the ER. Technology is wonderful and especially when it means that you can see your dad's face and even hear his voice and know more of how he is doing. I hope today brings good news.

Pooh, so it were a 'Three Dog Night"?? I wonder what was bothering them? Did you try singing along with them to make them shut up? Used to work when my kids threw fits. Made them laugh and shut up.

Mom2Evie, I enjoy all the talk about airfare and all as I am practically a virgin having only been on one flight in my entire life. I hope it all works out for you. Bad timing can ruin a day , or two , of a vacation and especially with a child along. If I ingested the medications that Paula has I might be as cheerful. I kind of worry about that girl.

WIC, our big screen TV died so I went upstairs and got a 12 inch set to watch until Christmas time when I plan to buy a new TV and Wii as our present, if not sooner. My husband sits and watches a small set in the kitchen all day long and then we have a 25 inch set in the bedroom so that will have to do. He is the one who wanted the big screen and I swear he has not watched ten hours on it in all the years we have had it. Spending $700 for a 32 inch set has my teeth on edge. I hope your problem does not mess with your vacation.:scared1: Whoopie is like a wise mom of a whole bunch of kids and she keeps it all under control on The View while letting folks express their opinions. I like that and would like to get some lessons.

BONZ, thank you so very much for your kind and generous offer but I would have no one to pick me up on this end and I think it is worth the cost in gas etc. to have my own car down at DW. Would be more cost efficient if I were spending a month instead of two weeks though. :rotfl:

I have the mess from the electricians all cleaned up now and have done the paint edging that needed to be done before moving the furniture back in place and am worn out. The lawn is so tall it is not funny but it has been raining. I hope it will dry out enough to do it before I go pick up my birthday boy. He is spending the night. :cheer2:

Just my .02 but there would be no way I'd pass on that fare + code. Won't you have time to do AK earlier? You girls could just have a nice "good-bye/going home" breakfast, reviewing all your highlights:goodvibes

There are two flights at $66. One arrives home at 1pm. One arrives in Richmond, an hour away at 8:15pm. Part of my BFF's reason for me to take a later flight is that we're already flying down late on Wednesday. Our plane doesn't land until 9pm. Flying out before the parks open on Sunday gives us only three days in eeh parks when we're paying for 5 days. Of course, if I were going to fly home late on Sunday, I could just come into Norfolk at 9PMfor $82 each. That would put us actually arriving home earlier than the Richmond flight since we'd have an hour's drive home from that one but only 15-20 minutes from Norfolk.

I think your name says it all. I can't think of a single post written by you that could possibly be misconstrued as offensive. I think we all know how silly & funny you are. Relax, you are among friends.

Aw, thank you!! :goodvibes The timing is poifect because I lost my job today :sad2: BUT that means I'll have time to play around on line while job hunting.;) When things get a bit low, what better time to dream of WDW?

Of course, it is always stressful to lose a job (because I did not go to the Dr yesterday in the middle of a 24 hour stomach bug - can you imagine trying to leave the house?? LOL), but it was one of those jobs where the emotional stress was taking a toll.

I LOVE my job (pre-school teacher), LOVE the munchkins and parents, but the director was, well, um...let's just say I will not miss her. As a former director I might be a little more sensitive to her insensitive nature - clear as mud?

Looking forward to getting to know everyone:goodvibes

Yeah, she'll tell you off via a wicked PM and... no wait, she can't do that for a couple of more weeks. my bad. Yeah, I guess you'd totally be off the hook for a bit. I'm betting she's making a list & checking it twice though. Be forewarned!!!

Sorry to hear that you lost your job. I happen to think the world is already short enough on people that givea damn about children and are trying to makea difference. As if we could ever have enough of those kinds of people. I always went out of my way to make sure that DD's preschool teachers knew they were appreciated: finding out their fave places & getting gift cards, saying thank you every once in a while, making sure that my daughter treated them with respect, and never assuming the worst about THEM when my daughter got upset about something the teacher did/said. They are all grossly underpaid for the work they do and I know that I wouldn't have the patience, tolerance or skill to do their job. They're helping shape the future, all I do is write computer code but I make more. Go figure, the world is a mixed up place. I hope you soon find a job in your field (& a director) that make you happy & that you feel rewarded.

So much for you not being the supportive and nice one around here:thumbsup2

Ya know, those of us who so love working with and caring for little ones think of it as a vocation, not a job. My class had some wonderful parents, just like you (the uncaring type;) ) - it's just a matter of time before I am with new munchkins....and I'll keep in touch with my little ones.

The thing about this director, is that she will not allow us to put up a notice when a bug is going through the classroom (I talk with parents anyway since I am available for them 24/7), but she wanted a Dr's note from me - now why in the world would I miss a day being with my kids unless it was not safe for any of us?

over the years, when I had parents who had no desire to ever go to WDW, I'd take a munchkin to Disney for his/her 6th birthday (this was families with whom I'd gotten close)...and we even returned when they were young teens...sigh...sweet memories.

Ya know, it's a sad thing when one must borrow children just to visit Disney!!! :confused3 :rotfl:

I need a grandchild!!!!

Timmy's trying to take all of our fun away!!!! :sad2:

I gots me a birthday boy here, actually it was a couple of days ago but we are celebrating tonight and tomorrow, if we can get away with it. Went to Subway and got sandwiches and cookies and chips. Did you all know they take expired coupons? I still have the B1G1F ones so we ate mighty cheap. :thumbsup2

BaciBecky, I hear you on how hard it is to teach and work with wee ones in an environment that is not conducive to their needs. I work with small children and teach love of reading and such. I know that you will be able to find a place where your services will be appreciated and you will be happier too. I wish more folks would take off or be permitted to when they are sick. The world would be better for it.

Timmie, I am glad your neighbor did not have heart trouble instead. If I ever have a heart attack I will not know because the acid reflux feels similar. Did you have to stay in the ER long? I hate going there. Sounds as if your dad is on the mend. Did I miss where they figured out what was wrong?:confused3

WIC, I would not worry too much about good behavior around here. We are lifers and we do not get any time off for good behavior so why bother? Besides, I am at an age when it is my goal to embarrass my children. I seem to do that just by breathing though. :rotfl2:

Mom2Evie, if anyone ever sent me a PM complaining about something I did I would consider what I might have done, owned up to it and apologized. Pooh scares me though cause she knows my phone number and address.  It is funny when you say you are not caring and supportive. Sometimes telling the truth is the most caring and supportive thing a person can do. I am not so good at that one. :guilty:

Pooh, at this rate you are going to have all your wedding stuff done soon and have nothing to do but relax and enjoy! :cheer2:

Disney, nothing but Disney when my boy and I are together. If only school did not start so soon I would drag that lad along for a trip of a lifetime. This time I bet I could get him out of the playground sandbox too!!

SG/Linda

Boy you girls post so much it takes me forever to catch up on posts. lol

Timmy,
I am glad to hear your DF is going better and his spirits are higher now.

Baci,
Welcome, a fresh perspective is always welcome and I am glad you are joining us. By the way I have a dacshund and a shih tzu who look like the first and the last dogs on your sign in your post and yes they will be with me forever. They are just way too special to me to ever give up.

I am sorry to hear about your job but it really sounds like it will be the kids who end up losing out on such a caring teacher. I bet you find a much kinder place to work really soon. A great friend of mine works in a day care and she loves those kids like they are her own a lot like your described yourself. Funny, I am taking her to Disney this in August for the first time in her life (she's 25) and she is so excited it's funny.

SG,
You say something rude, please. Your posts are full of humor and good intentions at all times.

Crzy,
Sorry to hear that they cut you off from your Disney obsession at work. Time to look for another job. lol

Rei,
I would take the less expensive flight anyday. My way of seeing it is I think about what I could pay for at Disney with the money I save.

I completely agree with your advise about the main issue with DS being his safety. Thank you for all your advise. It is nice to get a perspective of someone who is involved in a way in that field.

The only difference from your advice is that last year I didn't discuss it I just told them I expected the gym teacher to watch over his class and make sure his students are safe in his locker room when we had problems then. I learned with this principal in grade school, before he switched to the middle school, that you have to tell him what you need because otherwise he makes excuses as to why they do things the way they do and won't suggest they do any more then the minimum when asked what he can do. The gym teacher has been watching better this year according to DS but he obviously slacked off. The other day I talked to DS and the principal and told them both that I want DS staying with the gym teacher and instructed DS not to go to the locker room or the gym without him. DS is fearful of being late so in front of DS I told the principal that was a fear of his but that I am sure the gym teacher would have no problem making sure DS didn't get in trouble for being late. This was a problem last year when the teacher was letting out the class too late to get to the next class and a bunch of kids kept losing lunch recess for being late (went on for a month) till I let the teacher know what was up.

So far DS is back to happy go lucky and he only had a few kids say rude things to which he told them to mind their own business or when he wants their opinion he will ask for it. I armed him with an arsenal of one liners vs swear words to shut them up just in case, and it seems to be working. Oh I also told the principal that I would appreciate him calling the police if anyone punches my son again so I don't have to go there myself afterwards because I will no longer be tollerating violence against DS.
