Moist, sweet cornbread recipe?

I've used this one for years with one addition: I typically serve this under chili (the way some people serve chili over rice or like the weirdos in Cincinnati serve it over spaghetti :drinking: ) so after I mix all the ingredients, I add diced picked jalapeños and gently fold them in the batter right before putting it in the oven. You could skip that step of course. Best tip I can give is only mix the ingredients until they're well incorporated. If you over mix this it will be very dry (like most baked items).

$tree has Texas cornbread mix which is dense and tasty. I usually add real maple syrup to taste and sometimes walnuts or blueberries (more of a breakfast cornbread). It takes 3 eggs and I use a can of evaporated milk in place of cold milk. I bake in a 9" square pan so it is nice and thick. Yum!

My wife grew up with cornbread, so we have it once in a while. I've never liked cornbread because it's usually so dry. That is, until we came across this at the grocery store:

While it's not moist like a cake, it is a LOT moister than other cornbread I've eaten. On top of that, it's actually pretty good. I've even had a 2nd and 3rd piece.

Grocery stores always make better, I have never had a recipe sweet enough - I guess I like cornbread cake ;)

That is our favorite. They also have a Sweet Cornbread mix that one of our local grocery stores carries.

Yes, Jiffy mix is very moist. Want to make it sweeter? When you oil the pan, sprinkle sugar over it then add batter and bake as the package suggests.

Two boxes of jiffy mix made per instructions. Add in 8 oz of sour cream and one can of creamed corn. Very sweet and super moist.

Edited to add: I also heat my pan in the oven with about a 1/2 stick of butter. Pour your mixture into the hot pan and bake. The hot pan and melted butter create the crispiest most delish edges and a really nice buttery top.
