Mods please close. DH talked to another person at CFNews 13 and may want to run the story. They are upset that I started this thread and I don't want to jeopardize any possibility of not running the story. I just stated what was said and it has caused uproar

I have trouble believing this, its just so sad. "People have disappeared because of Disney?" OMG Disney is like the mafia or something, yet they are a company that's supposed to be about family entertainment. If anyone can find a way to reanimate Walt Disney as some sort of friendly superhuman zombie so that he can fix this, please do it now.

That's...odd. As important as VMK is to all of us, it doesn't seem like the kind of thing people would be "silenced" over. Sounds to me like there's a reporter out there with a sense for the melodramatic.

As far as the lawyer thing goes, it's really, REALLY hard to successfully sue the press. I won't go into the whole politics, history and constitutionalism of freedom of speech, freedom of press, yadda yadda, but I can't imagine how Disney would find a way around all of it in such a way as to make the media afraid, behemoth corporation though they are.

Any more back from the first woman?

redshoe, I totally agree with you. I think there is a reporter who would have had a better career on stage

I will say this though, no matter how ridiculous that comment was from that reporter, Never underestimate the power of the Mouse.
Now do not get me wrong, I really don't think Disney has ever done any of the things the reporter claims. But I do know, the city of Anaheim rebuilt the freeway system when CA Adventure was added to Disneyland. I am also fully aware that they have enough clout to get a story pulled if they see fit, but would they really do that??? I think not, they will just offer the standard "no comment" leaving the reporter trying to get a story with nothing but a fan's perspective and say-so about something. Without a valid quote from Disney, that reporter feels he really has nothing.

Wow what that reporter said is so ridiculous! Yes Disney is very powerful but seriously, a family entertainment business won't kill people. That is so idiotic. If someone compares Disney to that of a mob, isn't worth it to tell our story.

I can imagine this. The reporter does story..... Story gets published...... Story gets national attention....... Disney is embarrased and Bob is now on a war path......... Easy Ending is reporter now amazingly scared for his life moves Arkansaws ( Fictional story first state that came to mind not singled out ) changes his name to Bill and lives on a farm to rasie cattle.

um i really think that's being read into too deeply...lol. disappeared...i'm not doubting anything about your credibility here...but everyone going on about the mafia and whatnot...maybe it's just in good fun that you're all saying it, like they're going to be snuffed out, but seriously? i'm sure the person meant FIRED...as in disappearing from the office, b/c look back at the whole incident with that female reporter from the NY Times who wrote the story about Disney & Pooh and the families and the legal battles, Bob Iger wrote a letter to the Times blasting her and she was fired like nothing. of course then she sued.... lol so that's most likely where the whole threatened thing comes into play...unless the reporter could just care less about our cause :-(

If you're aiming the comments to me, well I'm not reading into it too deeply. I stated what the guy said, I didn't say anything about the mafia, I have no reason to lie my credibillity is great. I'm sure the guy could care less about the whole story and probably needs a little help because of what he said.

ugh...this is exactly what i didn't want to happen...i wasn't trying to be sarcastic or rude or anything, and i was really commenting on what everyone else was saying...not really your comment, b/c no where in your post did you say anything other than what transpired with the Editor. sorry if it seemed i was conveying negative emotions where i really wasn't trying to... that's the one thing i hate about message boards and posting
