I know this has been asked before but I never saw an answer. Are we able to modify our reservation to a new room/resort after registering for moonlight magic? I see for the next event at HS, you must have a finalized reservation for an event date prior to 4/17, and registration takes place 4/20.

I have a reservation for the 6/16 event but I’m currently trying to move to a lower point room or resort and have two waitlists pending. Can I change my reservation after I’m registered for the event, or is 4/16 the absolute last day I can modify?

You can modiy. In the past they've not even enforced having an eligible reservation after booking MM, but obviously that was then and who knows. They have never seemed together/with it enough to do a good job of doing that, though.

Modify has been reporting as working for keeping whatever tickets you have already. You just don't want any modification or changes to happen within the 48 hours prior to reservation as sometimes, that could cause an issue.

I guess in thinking about this, should I cancel my waitlists during that time period to make sure that a waitlist doesn’t go through during the timeframe from 4/17-4/20?

I don't know if I would do that, but I might go on chat and see if they can make a note on the waitlist to not process any waitlist matches during that window of time so it doesn't impact your registration.

Thanks for your help, Sandi!

I modified from a 2 bedroom for one night to the tree houses for two nights after I booked MM and had no problems with it. I got concerned when I read a post that said don’t do it but they let me in! And it was a blast!

Awesome! So good to hear from someone who actually experienced this!

I need to add a night, could do it now but waiting until after I (hopefully) register for MM. (cash room, it will be same reservation number).

I have a 1 BR villa reserved at OKW for one night on May 24, but when I made the resort reservation I wasn't sure who would be going with me. Yesterday when I got an email saying I was eligiblle for Moonlight Magic I remembered I still had not added any other guests to my reservation. (Whoops). I went ahead and added 4 other adults yesterday, but it was not within their 48 hours before time frame so I wasn't sure if it would work for 5 of us. Still, when I entered the queue (used 3 different devices and got wait times over 15,000 ahead of me for one, over 8000 for another, but only 365 ahead of me for my really old, old Android phone which was my oldest device and it did allow me to confirm for 5 of us to go on May 24. I was done with the whole process in under 10 minutes and even got the confirmation email about 5 minutes later. Woot!

I hope you got in - we have GF studio June 16-19 (there area 5 of us and that's all I could find) and I'm trying to get us into a 1 or 2 bedroom, but zero availability for the night of the 16th. I'm going to waitlist for a larger room (probably at Saratoga since it has most availability and two of the 3 nights show up). Since we got into HS for Moonlight on the 16th, I hope there aren't any problems! Just upgrading the room size, so hopefully all stays confirmed!

I didn’t get in :( . After reading other posts on here it sounds like most ppl who switched resorts had no problem checking in to MM.

oh darn it Tink!!! I'm so sorry. It was a stressful morning for us in the queue. And I told my family, suck it up if we stay in the studio and don't get our bigger room. But, I didn't activate my waitlist until after. So sorry.

My sympathies Tink. I did not get in either because I did not have a valid hotel reservation, which is totally false. I called MS yesterday to confirm it all because I did not get the email and they told me I was all set. Called them after and they couldnt do anything. I asked them about fixing the bug, and they said it was not a bug, it was sold out. The could not grasp the fact that being told i dont have a hotel reservation when I do is a BUG. I have no idea how to handle the animal Kingdom MM. Why should I expect a different result. Disney IT sucks.

This makes me wonder if there was a difference between direct and resale? My reservation was with direct points. Got the email yesterday and all went relatively smoothly. But you clearly did the right thing to check in and follow up, which is a bummer it still didn't work for you, but I wonder if it did make a difference? Not sure if your res was with direct or resale points? I have both resale and direct, and there shouldn't be a difference - if you had a hotel reservation you should have been in the queue!

My situation - 2 contracts, both 150 points, 1 bought directly from Disney, 1 bought resale, but before the latest round of resale restrictions. so technically both are eligible for MM. My stay is (WAS - I cancelled it now) not at a DVC resort, its a cash reservation on property at a Disney Resort. This clearly qualifies for Moonlight Magic. Since I did not get the email I called MS yesterday and was told its all ok. I was in the actually "enter your member number" page at 11:25 eastern, so 25 minutes after booking opened, so it was not sold out.

I am disappointed (and angry) but my bigger concern is going forward. And I do not think that there is any recourse. Why should I think AK will work? I guess the good news is I can cancel 6 nights of hotel and get the 500 deposit back.

I got a reservation at Coronado Springs because I was not able to book anything through DVC for 6/16. I was very surprised that I actually got the email that I was eligible. I entered the queue at 11, number about 5500, and was in the queue for about 40 minutes when I got the register screen. Almost had a heart attack because when I entered my "blue" member number, it was not associated with the reservation. After several tense moments of trying to go back and refresh and getting blank screens, I was able to put in my other member number. Still can't believe it all worked. Now I'm going to be afraid to change that cash reservation even if something opens up with DVC.

Wow - that is frustrating and I hope you can get into the AK one! Good information to have regardless for the rest of us and I'm actually glad to hear it wasn't a "resale" member glitch!

I had the same thing happen for Epcot and the HS event. I tried my blue card and it wouldn't take it, but it took my number that is associated with my resale contract.
