Modifying FP time -- will I lose my original time if a new time is not available?

This is our first trip to WDW. I booked our FPs ages ago but now realize that we will want to spend the hot part of the day at the pool and go to the MK at night. I have 7DMT for noon and would like to try switching it for later -- if I go in to make the switch, does it immediately put my time up for grabs -- can I lose it if I don't find an alternate time?

If I can't find a later time, we will just switch out touring to later but I would love to make the evening work, if possible.

Nope. Just make sure you click "change for a different time or attraction" instead of "cancel these fPs" because the cancel option will delete all three. If no other times are available it will say none available. If you don't like the new options, just use the back button. We do this all the time.

You have to click on modify FP, not new or cancel. You can drop down the times bar and see if anything is to your liking if nothing just leave it on your original time, double check that nothing was changed and click done.

Be aware, this attraction is unlikely to have availability if you originally chose it "ages ago."
