I am renting points from a member for May 2-6. My son who is in the Air Force can't make it that week so we want to try to bump it up a week, is this possible if there is availability?

It really depends on the member who is renting you the reservation. They are the ones you need to ask since it is an agreement between you and them. Some members who rent make it clear at the beginning that changes are not allowed and others have policies that allow it, subject to availability. If you have a contract, check there as it may give you the information you are seeking.

As noted it's between you and the party you're renting from. Since there is no May UY that should't be an issue. But it will be more points, maybe an extra 30-40 or so for a 2 BR depending on exact dates and home resort.

As everyone has already said, you really need to be asking the owner as it really is up to them. They are in no way obligated to make a change. Flexibility is one of the things you give up in exchange for a great deal on accommodations. Hopefully you understood the intricacies of DVC rentals before entering into a rental agreement.

As for availability, you are only about 6 weeks out so expect options to be very limited (assuming you have a very generous owner that is willing to help). I would guess AKL/SSR/OKW to be the only possibilities (due to resort size). An as Dean noted above, April is a different season for DVC and the points requirements are higher than May.
