Hoping experienced folks can give me ideas. We were a party of 8. Grandparents, both kids and their spouses, plus us. Grandparents are in their 80s and were the first to drop out. We had two reservations. One room only that they were in with my son and daughter-in-law. Room only because the grandparents weren’t going to the parks. My son and daughter-in-law bought tickets separately. Then a package room with my husband and I as well as our daughter and son-in-law. Now my daughter and son-in-law aren’t going. COVID is running rampant and they are in the medical field. They are vaccinated but afraid of catching it and it impacting their ability to work post vacation. We’ve paid the package in full and travel on the 26th. I’m thinking about two options either getting rid of room only and the 4 of us staying in my paid for package room Or keeping both rooms and dropping the grandparents from the room only and my daughter and son-in-law from the package. With it being so close to the trip, will we be able to do either of these? Is there anything to consider when making a decision? Thanks for any advice.

You can do either. If you want to cancel the room only, do it before 5 days prior to check in so you don’t lose your deposit. If you keep the room only and drop your children from the package, technically there is a $50 change fee but Disney may waive it in this circumstance.

My family often gets one room at deluxes because of price: it is nice to save $700 or more per night. :wizard:
But-- if I was traveling with my DIL I think I would want two rooms. If I was staying mod or value I would get two rooms. It's just preference. :smickey:

If you do this, there will be an an extra set of tickets. Shift them to a dummy profile that you manage on your MDE and save for credit towards future tickets.

As PP mentions, there may be a $50 change fee for dropping DD+SIL, but they may waive it.

Personally, I'd keep the 2 rooms but it may depend on budgets and how close you all are, whether anyone would mind staying in a single room.

You were paying an extra fee for four adults in a room, so you will save some money when you change the reservation. The room only reservation is easy to change to two adults only. There won't be a fee for that. The package room will be different because you want to cancel tickets as well as take off two adults. You will incur a fee for that. This is why I never book a package. I like the flexibility of being able to make changes or cancel without paying a fee.

I would keep the two rooms and eat the $50 fee. But like PPs mentioned you’ll be saving some money by not having two extra adults in the room.
