Moderators: This board seems off topic!

It seems as this board gets frequently off the topic of budgeting as related to Disney trips and off into other areas like JC Penny coupons and Ebay, etc. Help!! It makes finding great budget-related tips really difficult for trip-planning! Since it is under the "trip-planning" area, it seems like things should relate to trip-planning and not general life!

I've noticed the off-topic become A LOT more prevalent lately.

I see this board as not only how to do Disney on a budget but how to save money that can be applied to a WDW trip and how to earn money for a trip.

I have gotten a lot of free samples that will be used on my WDW trip that I would have had to buy. That helps my budget.

I have learned a lot of things from this board and hope that it stays the way it is. But that's just me.

I totally agree with the two previous posts....leave board as is.....has great money saving tips and I have gotten tons of advice and saved a lot of money due to these boards and the combinations of topics......Leave as is....great tips on tons of different things.... ;)

I agree, with other posters, ways to save money translate to more trips to disney IMHO. I have recently PM a moderator though to mention that I thought a seperate EBAY forum might be a good idea, to condense information, and have a resource for sellers/buyers. But I love the current condition of the boards...espically since they added the little box so you can read the beginning of the thread. You just have to go with the flow... :boat:

This has been the board I've been visiting most often lately! Please don't change it! :worship:
I'm saving all sorts of money via free samples, learning about other ways to make money (mystery shopping, Ebay, etc.), hearing about great sales and coupons to use, etc.!! :flower:

I just feel that there should be TWO boards - one non-planning Budget Board, and one trip-planning Budget board.

I visit when I come to the DIS. I have saved money on stuff that will help me save and pay for my tickets and airfare this November. Please leave this board alone, it's literally made me a better shopper!!!!

ITA.

For the OP: It's usually easy to skip over the obvious non-Disney tips, of "hover" over the thread to see the first line. I think it might be helpful if people used descriptive subjects and didn't use "Teaser" subjects so folks like the OP don't have to open a thread only to find out it doesn't apply to them.

Ditto to leave it as-is.
I never realized all the "found money"
and other free stuff available out there.
All these savings are applied to our
Disney trip. So, I think the current
situation is very condusive to saving
and budgeting for Disney.
IMHO,
Lori

Love this board. I've learned so much from my fellow savy savers!!! All money I can save, is more for Disney trips!!! (the free carry ons, someone on this board suggested will be going with us on our next trip!!!) :cool1:

Another vote for "Leave It Alone".

Unlike other boards that can bury a thread in a matter of minutes, most threads on this board are viewable on the first page for a couple of days. If any new Disney-only threads are started, you'll see them.

Many of the "off-topic" threads help me to save money so that there's more to spend at WDW. I happen to like the "finds" that others post here and I know that if I want to make an online purchase, someone here probably has a discount code for me to use.

Chances are very good that if you want to find a room code, best place to buy tickets or affordable place to eat, you can also find it on another board. But if you want to find opinions on a cheap long distance service, you'll get great info here.

another vote for leave it alone - I just bought four bathing suits for WDW from JCPenney b/c someone was kind enough to post the sale.

I like the Board as it is and find very good budget ideas. I agree with the postere who said members should try to put as specific title as possible so that those who only want Disney trip planning can find those posts easier...

"Princess costumes on sale at Target" is better than "Guess what I found!" for those who want to read only certain messages.

Other than that, I like the Budget Board as is :)

I also would like to see this board left as is!! It is a budget board and I agree that that helps us with our trips to DW!! I visit this board more than the others looking for ways to save money!!

I agree, I just had to spend my Disney savings on a new (to us) car so I'm not planning a trip right now and I still visit this board almost daily just to find more ways to save $$.

I agree, this board should stay the way it is. I have found many great deals and ways to save money that I would never have known had it not been for these tips. Do not change it and as the others have already said, the more we save the faster we get to WDW.
