We are planning a trip in early 2013 and I was hoping for some help with which hotel to book. Would really like to know which one is the shortest bus ride to and from Magic Kingdom and any other experiences with the moderate hotels. Thanks.

Coronado Springs is probably the closest, followed very closely by POR & POFQ.

I have stayed at POFQ and am a big fan. Smaller resort, one bus stop (sometimes shares with POR), boat to DTD.

Negatives: No TS on site - can walk to POR.

We are staying in a POR - Royal Room this time just to see what they are like though.

In regards to the buses you will get a ton of different answers. It really depends more on the day, traffic, crowds, drivers - that sort of thing. Overall, I've stayed at POR and CBR for moderates (did not like CBR) and found the buses to be perfectly fine. Most we waited was about 15 mins.

POR is the best moderate, followed by CBR. Coronado would be my LAST choice and I'd rather stay at a value. POR has a great food court, a fantastic pool and gorgeous grounds. We stayed there several times a few years ago and never had any problems with the transportation.

Have a great trip!

i like pofq and por for their fairly central location. pofq for it's small size is nice but maybe to some seems a little more adult since a lot of kids have no clue what a mardi gras french quarter theme is. i've had great stays at csr and cbr as well. i like cbr when we're doing a lot of time at epcot and dhs. we've also stayed in a royal room at por and a pirate room at cbr both were fun but i liked the royal room a little better but the person we booked the pirate room for wouldn't agree lol so it depends on what you like. the sizes of the rooms are all the same unless you book a suite at csr. csr also has the advantage of having a spa if that's something that interests you so it has a lot of the amenities of the deluxe resorts but at a mod price...plus there is a 24 hr mcdonalds right down the street so if you have a late night munchies or a picky kid that can be helpful. basically i'd say look at photos pic a theme you and your family like and have a great time!

I like all of the mods, so my feeling is that you can be happy at any of them. POR-FQ is the most compact so if you prefer to minimize walking it might be a good choice. POR (dix landing) was recently renovated (this year) so that might be another good choice plus both POR locations offer boat service to DTD. CSR was renovated 2 or 3 years ago and is a conference facility so it offers extra amenities like a spa, work out facilities, several restaurants, a buffet, etc. and is the most centrally located to all parks of all the mods, so another good choice. CBR has the great pirate ship pool which is a kid's favorite - again, you really have some good picks. I personally would pick based on theme and amenities, since they are all about equal distance to Magic Kingdom by bus or car. If you want proximity to MK - you will have to step up to deluxe. You might consider Wilderness lodge. It is the least expensive of the deluxes, but offers boat service direct to MK. Would love to stay at any of them!!!
