Ok so we are trying to decide on a mod resort. We are tossing up between Coronado Springs and both of the POR resorts.

CS appeals because of the fitness centre while the POR resorts appeal because of their small size and proximity to DD.

Is anyone ale to offer advice/opinions on any of the resorts? :confused3

Stayed at CSR in Sept 2012 and it was awesome. The only downfall was that there was a convention going on so sometimes you could hear the conventioneers until the late evening hours after you got back from the parks.

Stayed at POFQ in June 2009 and it was amazing. Small but very nice. Loved the boat to DTD.

Never stayed at POR but have heard good things.

I know this isn't much to go off of but it's 5:30 am and I just got home from work. I'll try and give more information after a few winks of sleep. :)

We've stayed at all three. I'd rank them CSR, POR, and POFQ. IMHO, CSR has the best water slide and the best theme of the three. It is big but we always rent a car so that wasn't an issue for us.

POR has a good food court. We eat there every trip, even though we haven't stayed there in years. POFQ is nice if you're traveling with little kids. The pool area is suited to them. We had our worst onsite housekeeping experience at POFQ, so that definitely colors my opinion on it. (Bad housekeeping can happen at any hotel, it was just our luck it happened there.) Both have the boat to DTD, which is a nice little perk.

Stayed at CSR June 2012 & LOVED it!!! Have not been to either PO as the themes do not appeal to us. We stayed at CBR May 2011 and also LOVED it. (I know CBR wasn't one of your options but we really enjoyed it.) Who is in your group? For little kids there is a designated kids pool/splash area at CBR + zero entry in the main pool. Our kids were 13 & 8 when at CSR and they loved the slide. The main pool is huge so it never felt crowded. Roasting marshmallows pool side each night was yummy! CSR has a pool bar/mug refill station/snack counter that is really handy. CSR (& CBR) get alot of flack for being so big. Granted, we were lucky both times and got great room locations close to the food court/main building, close to bus stops and close to quiet pools/main pools. Make room requests and if not satisfied ask to be moved. We would go to either one again in a heartbeat! As many have said on similiar threads, pick the resort with the theme that appeals to you. CSR & CBR are both tropical/beachy which is what we like. POR & POFQ have their own unique themes, but are just not what we look for when picking our resort.

If we can't get free dining applied to our Little Mermaid reservation for September, we are going to switch to either POR (will request mansions) or CSR (will request cabanas section). CSR has good bus transportation and a gym which my husband likes. POR has the boat to downtown Disney but I am leery of the buses. Hard decisions!

I would give the edge to CSR...
We stayed at CSR in 2011 and just got back from POR (March trip). Honestly both resorts are beautiful and you are not going to be unhappy with either of them. I will preface this opinion with we are not "relax at the resort" kind of people. Our kids use the pool and we will take walks in the evening. We might eat at the food court, but mainly go there for dessert and evening coffee.
We found CSR easier to navigate. POR has sidewalks that wind back and forth so there is no direct route anywhere...we got turned around more than once. Also, our car was parked directly in front of our room and we had to wind back and forth along the sidewalk. Not a deal breaker, but kind of annoying.
At POR, the elevators could be a really long way from your room. After they put my parents (with noted walking issues) on the second floor, we discovered that they have one elevator for all three buildings and my parents were as far as they could be from it...not convenient. They did move them to a first floor room without a problem.
We thought the food court and the pool was much better at Coronado and we found that the bus service was much more efficient at Coronado as well. We preferred the theming at CSR over POR...it was so beautiful to look out over the lake at night.
So while we did not hate POR...it was a lovely resort...if we had to choose, we would definitely stay at CSR.

it all depends on your preference. To me, POR is my favorite Mod. I love the food court - the create your own pasta and salad bars are amazing. I love the boat to DTD, I love the relaxed theming, I love Yeeha Bob in the lounge at night. I have never had a problem with the buses here and i've stayed here 10 times. I only ever had 1 long wait in the 10 times and 50 bus trips i've taken from there. I liked CSR but the theme doesn't really appeal to me. I do like that it has a gym, but I can't think of a single time I would want to be in the gym rather than the park or the pool. CSR has an amazing pool, but POR has a good pool, so that's good enough for me.

I am having the same trouble.. Trying to pick between CSR and the Port Orleans.. My mind tells me to pick POFQ b/c the pool is more suitable for my children but I love the rooms at CSR!

Currently having the same dilemma over which to pick CSR or POR. Would love to hear more comments :)

Thanks to everyone for your responses, they have been very helpful! :thumbsup2

We are heavily leaning towards CSR becuase the theming is more suited to our taste and it seems to have a few more features than POR and POF.

For those who are also tossing up, I found this website handy. It was suggested to me by another user and is full of useful information :cheer2:

Stayed at CSR last September and absolutely loved it! Theming and scenery was perfect. The main pool (Dig Site) was great, the slide was fun! Also a plus to have the option of dipping into the quiet pool in each section of the resort! Good variety of food choices also. The bus service was on point, never had to wait more than 10 minutes for any bus. We stayed in casitas 2, which was very close to the first bus stop which was definitely a plus. Casitas 2 also has the quiet pool right there. The walk to the main pool was a little far, but not horrible!

Would definitely stay here again! :thumbsup2

Edit:
Also to add there is a ping pong table and a beach volleyball court at the Dig Site, which is really fun!

We have stayed at POFQ & CSR. I choose CSR on the last trip because at that time it was the only mod with queen beds & I enjoy trying new resorts. CSR had the best bus service of any resort we have stayed at. We liked the Cafe Rix over the Pepper Market but we tend to use a CS place at our resort for a quick meal & we thought the Rix was alot quicker. Compared to POFQ the resort was more spread out which does not bother us. I did miss the boat to DTD. If today I had to pick for a future trip I would pick POFQ I just liked it better no one clear reason maybe the size.

We had great service at both resorts.

While P0R is great in all aspects except bus situation POFQ falls a lil more behind that. Both of these are similar yes, but FQ is just too cramped for my liking. Sorta claustrophobic IMHO. But some like this feature... FQ pool is geared towards the younger ones too. And no TS rest. Either. Now POR n FQ have the boat access to DTD which is a nice perk. Food courts are good at both places too.Yeehaw Bobs ( in the lounge ) at POR is so much fun for everyone too.

NOW for CSR..... Possibly one of the best resorts in all of WDW. Especially for the price. We like to call it a deluxe lite for all the amenities you get.

Pool... 2nd or third best main pool out of all resorts IMHO.

Rooms... Theming is perfect and authentic and all refurbed rooms with comfy queen beds.

Buses... Best out of all resorts....Including deluxes... Hands down.

Convention hotel....??? I guess if u happen to b put in a room close to where they are most staying then yes it would be a lil noisy. This could happen at any resort. FWIW we were there 9 nights and experienced none of this and there were conventioneers there as well. ........also to add, the fact that there are conventions here helps with the buses not being full, or ever having to wait for a second bus, or having to stand..

Pepper market. Most people hate....I happen to like this. Huge bang for your Disney buck here. Also you already have a seat when you get your food.. meaning no more wandering around while your food gets Cold..LoL

Grounds... Beautifully landscaped nice relaxing beaches with plenty of hammocks to take a load off.

To also add they have one of the biggest hot tubs I've seen and a nice fitness center to utilize.

Either route you take I'm sure you'll love both but if it weren't for us being DVC owners we'd be back year after year in our lil CSR.:thumbsup2
