For people who’ve used mobile order since they brought it back, what was your experience? Do they have it working smoothly?
 
We have used it frequently from this past August to the present and it worked fine. We typically tap on Prepare My Order early, like 10 minutes before we arrive at the restaurant and then hardly have a wait. The only place we’ve experienced long waits is at Bread Box. On the two separate occasions we’ve mobile ordered from here it seemed like it took forever waiting for our food. There weren’t many customers inside so I guess they get a lot of mobile orders maybe.

The downfall is that some mobile order menus are limited. For example, we were going to order breakfast sandwiches from Croissant Moon but didn’t see the sandwiches listed so we figured we’d order them in person. We arrived there to get in line and the line was way out the door and barely moving. (This was about two months ago). So we mobile ordered some of their muffins (which were great) and walked right in the side door to pick them up. No protein for breakfast that morning but saved us a ton of time to get on key rides.

You can check mobile order menus in the UO app. There are many counter service restaurants included now with mobile order compared to this past summer. This will give you a good idea of where and what you can order during your planning.

ETA: occasionally we manually checked if our order was ready as we didn’t always receive notifications

We had a bad experience at the Burger Digs (about a 45 minute wait, had to check in person more than once on the progress of the order, which was ultimately wrong anyway). Hopefully, it is working smoother at other places.

That’s our 1 and only experience with mobile order at Uni but it was 2 years ago (at monsters cafe). It was a nearly empty restaurant and it took them an hour to make our food after me checking in 4 times and finally just standing there watching them not do it. The manager finally comped the meal but it was super frustrating. I assume they’ve gotten much better but thought it would be good to check.

@Lynne G, I’m definitely planning to try that. We skipped voodoo last time because the lines were so long and I really want to try them!

Fingers crossed but I think you’ll be fine. We’ve had great frequent experiences besides the one at Bread Box and that could’ve just been an off day or something, as with anything else. Speaking of Voodoo doughnuts, every trip we mobile order doughnuts at park closing for the next morning and that has been a blessing. It’s so nice to bypass that long line. They recently put up a separate little stand outside of Voodoo exclusively for mobile pickup which I think will be nice. I always felt bad for the TM outside trying to manage who was in the regular line vs who was walking in for mobile order pickup.

One more thing, if you have an AP don’t forget to scan that for your discount during checkout while mobile ordering. It’ll prompt you towards the end but the print is small.

i think it was early growing pains so hopefully most places know what they’re doing.

Yes - we definitely plan to pick up donuts the night before at least one night (probably more).
