I am sure this question has been asked a hundred plus times, but I cannot seem to "search" a thread about it.

I am attending the MNSSHP in October and am stumped on a summery lightweight halloween costume for my 3 year old boy. I live in Boston so when Halloween comes its chilly so I never had to give this much thought.

I am trying to find a lightweight (no pants or longsleeve tops) costume for him. Any ideas? I have searched tons of costume websites and everything seems to have long pants and sleeves.

My daughter is easy - tons of princess dresses to choose from, but my little boy is tough. Thoughts? Ideas? What have you done in the past?

Thank you!

I've been dealing with the same question. I think our family is going to do a revised version of the Incredibles - red shirts with the logo (short-sleeved), black shorts and the little black eye masks. I had another DISer suggest 101 Dalmations - white shorts and T-shirts with black spots. Would that interest him?

He likes Buzz lightyear and I saw a great costume on the disney website on clearance but it looks hot.

He is not into dalmations, but cute idea.

I suggested peter pan ( since my daughter is going to be tinerbell) but my hubby won't "allow" it - hahahaha

I was looking for a pirate outfit with shorts and a tshirt and vest... can't seem to find it - and I am soooo not handy enough to make it.

I was at target yesterday and bought my sons PJS. They are short sets that look like a costume. One superman and one batman they have a cape too. The boys loved them. I thought they would be cool to wear if it was hot and easy to get on and off of the rides in.

pirate: He can dress as a pirate-I've seen many costumes where the shirt is a tattered short sleeve and tattered 3/4 length pants. We always try to opt for cool costumes too, which is a switch from how it really is here at home for Halloween. Good luck. :goodvibes

check on line at littletykes.com, they used to have a pirates costume, all one piece, sorta felty. The pants are jagged at the bottom and the sleeves might be too. (not long/not short) DS wore it on Disney Cruise for pirates nitght w/ just an A-tee (aka wife beater tee) under it. look in role play section !!

check out a site like buycostumes.com (I think that is it, just google costumes and pick the first link.) Peterpan is a nice costume, DS was that for 3rd bday trip to WDW. Not sure of son's age, but there is a Highschool musical basketball costume, a new Wall-e 3D costume that you can put whatever street clothes under, or make your own. I made DS a Handy Manny costume last yr for our trip. They will probably have one this year. Disney store always has cute stuff, just alittle early for costumes yet.

I too am looking for costumes for my two boys and my two nephews. Everything I've found will be way too hot. The boys will be 5,4,2,1 when we go. Any ideas?

We thought about just buying matching disney t shirts for all of us but I kinda feel like that is a cop out. What do you think about that?

To the OP, how did you make the Handy Manny coustume. DH and I were considering that for our DS3. He just LOVES Handy Manny.

We are doing a revised version of Indiana Jones. I got my son a pair of safari shorts, a light brown shirt and a tan light weight fishing vest. I then took the indiana jones logo and scanned it into our computer and printed it out on transfer paper and ironed it onto the vest. Cheap, no sewing required and light weight. He already has the indy hat that he can wear if he wants along with the whip :)

When in Oct. are you going? When we were there at the end of Oct. I specifically remember wearing jeans and a sweatshirt to MNSSHP. My DD was one at the time and we bought here an adorable fish costume, but she wore a long-sleeved onesie and tights under it. October is a wonderful time of the year to go, but the mornings start out chilly and the temps can dip down in the night too. We are from NH, so I know what you mean when you say Halloween here is chilly, but depending on when you are going in Oct., I wouldn't count on the nights being warm.
MNSSHP is a BLAST...have a wonderful time!

CandCmommy, Handy Manny was pretty easy.
First he wears jeans w/ a cuff, so justed cuffed sons jeans. He also wears brown shoes. We needed to take brown shoes as we were also cruising and needed them for dinner, but I am sure tennis shoes would be fine. He has a green shirt (hardest part for me), really a baseball style two-tone would be perfect, I couldn't find one last fall, but old navy had some this spring/summer, check on line. The red/white ball cap was a bit hard too, but I ended up w/ all red one from Gymboree (just happened to have a "Mr Fix-it" logo). The yellow work gloves I found at Tractor Supply Store, he uses them in the house for his work bench. If you have a Disney Store they actually now have a soft toolbox w/ stuffed tools. (it came out for Christmas). When you buy, the tools are stitched to the toolbox to not fall out, it would be sooooo cute an addition. We ended up getting a small red bag (at craft store) then I printed a picture of tools and glued it on. We used it as a Treatbag. I bet there is some iron on transfer that would work too. No one really made mention of outfit at MNSSHP, but on the cruise several people commented on who he was and how cute .

Minnie4Me-Thanks for all the tips on the Handy Manny costume. I'm going to go check those places online now. We did see that toolbox at the Disney Outlet while we were in Vegas a couple of months ago, hopefully they'll still have it. I think it would be a great costume and not too hot since we are going on September 5th.
