We have never been before, but are going this year! I'm not much of a Halloween fan, but what really piqued my interest was reading about the Headless Horseman riding through the darkened streets prior to the parade. Sounds so cool! The other day I called Disney Dining to make our ADR's and the CM was telling me about the gravediggers towards the end of the parade, looking very macabre dancing with their shovels, dragging them along the street making sparks. Wow, can't wait to see that. :cool1:

So what single little thing or things make the Halloween party so awesome to you veterans? Tell me about the little details! I want to know everything!

The fireworks completely around the park were awesome! Not sure if they've changed that since Wishes, but when we were there a couple of years before Wishes we watched from Frontierland, right between Splash Mountain and BTMRR, and felt like we were in the center of the show!

The fireworks are awesome HallowWishes I believe they are called. The parade is great too, my husband and I went last year and we just loved it. We didn't find it too crowded either, unless you were in front of the castle that area was pretty busy.

We rode a lot of rides, met a lot characters. Meeting rare characters is always fun too and they are out in full force. You also get to meet and greet witht he villians and see the villians stage show.

I could go on and on..it is wonderful. So wonderful in fact we are going again this year and taking the kids too.

Love the Headless Horseman, love the parade, love the fireworks. :cheer2: All the candy is great too.

:sad1: DH and I are going in september. Arriving 9/16 and leaving on 9/21. Just us and the littlest Disney nut.

I played with our dates, but alas....we cannot go a day early for the party or stay a day late. He cannot get off the 15th and I cannot get off the 23rd (we would have to stay 2 extra days for the party).

We are both very bummed about missing the party by a day.

My mom says to me this morning, "but honey, you'll only have Johnnie, he is too little to care."

Silly silly mom. WE are the ones who want to go. :rotfl2: Not the kids!!

:rotfl:
We are just happy to be sneaking in an extra trip, and BONUS...DH is now talking about adding a MNSSHP trip to 2007!! With all the kids. WOOOHOOOOO!

In the meantime, keep up with these threads on the party so I can live vicariously through you til we get to go to one!!!

We loved the parade and when we went in late September last year there were no lines for the rides which was also great. My 4 year old DD's favorites were the dance party at Ariel's Grotto and getting to see the Pooh characters in their Halloween costumes.

We go every year because we feel it is the best event WDW offers. I have two things that tie for best part. Fireworks and atmosphere. I love the werewolves howling and the creepy but fun shadows lurking on the Main Street buildings. The parade used to be my favorite but then they changed it last year and it was very disappointing. So now I have my other two favorites of the party~

The Headless Horseman was without a doubt the highlight for me. We didn't do a very good job of planning our last MNSSHP trip, so I have been putting loads of effort into reconning this one! The amount of characters out and about sounds great (we just saw them in the parade)

My fiance and I went for the 1st time in 2004. We both loved the entire evening! I think one of the best things is that there are tons of characters everywhere!! We both love the villians so it was great seeing so many in one place! We're going again this Oct and I can't wait!

We went for the first time this past November. It was a suprise trip for DS who turned 8 the day before. For his birthday, we gave him an invitation to go trick or treating with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the gang.
The best things were dinner at LTT with the chracters dressed up, Seeing most dressed up, being able to ride all the rides with hardly any lines, and the fireworks.
My kids and DH are not parade people so we skipped it

The parade is great...one of the gravediggers came right up to my 8yo dd. She jumped a mile high, but came down laughin'...she loved it! We watched from Liberty Square and had a great spot. My favorite part of the night, tho, was when the "dead" cowboys sang happy birthday to me and my daughter!

HI All!

We are going to The World 9/16-9/23 and doing the party on our last night there--the 22nd.

I have a few quick questions for you MNSSHP veterans. We will actually be "doing" Epcot that day and using our FREE (yes, FREE--I LOVE THAT WORD :smooth: ) TS at one of the EPCOT restaurants...so we will have to park hop over to the MK to catch the party.

I've read that it starts at 7, but some people are posting saying you can actually start at 4. What is the correct information? When does the park close to the general public? Will I miss anything if I don't get over there until 7?

What time does the Headless Horseman make his grand entrance? That's what I really want to see! :yay:

So many questions...but I know you vets are lurking out there! Help! :rolleyes2

Everything! The parade and fireworks, the characters, the atmosphere, the villians. It's just fabulous. I think the coolest thing though, is that only the people that buy the tickets get to see it all. (As opposed to MVMCP - for it, you pay to see the same thing everyone sees Christmas week.)

The party officially starts at 7, however they will let you in with your MNSSHP ticket at 4 (they give you a wrist band)...they clear the park of everyone (except wrist band wearers) at 6pm...all of the "early birds" to the MNSSHP will be quarantined to one of the lands...last year it was fronteirland (the rides are open here only)...the year before it was tomorrowland...b/n 6 and 7 they "transform" the park...

You won't miss any actual party activities if you don't arrive 'til 7pm...all the activities are scheduled after this time

The headless horseman rides before each parade, 15 minutes before I think??...BUT only on days with nice weather, if there is any rain even a sprinkle he will not go...Mr. Knickerbocker (sp?) reads the story of the HH at the Liberty Bell and when he finishes the Horseman rides...

I've heard a few people say he only rides before the 1st parade...however last year we saw him ride before the 2nd parade (10pm) one...

Can hardly wait...! pirate:

This will be our first time going to MNSSHP (9/22). I can't wait!! It sounds like so much fun! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Anyone have any good costume ideas for 2 boys (age 11 & 7)? :confused3
I'm sure my dd will wear 1 of her princess costumes.

I actually like going closer to 7. I would miss that feeling I get walking up to the park and entering as MNSSHP begins. Evening is setting in and the music and atmosphere sets the mood for enjoying the party.

Halloween wasn't on my list of favorite holidays before, but it certainly is now after two MNSSHPs. I adore this party.

My favorites:

HalloWishes - worth the ticket itself - amazing and fun
Boo to You parade - absolutely charming
the Villains coming out to play on the castle fore court
riding BTMR at night over and over as fast as we could walk through the queue

I'm already feeling sorry for myself that I won't be able to attend this year.
