MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

nothing new to add-I am just happy to see this thread-it is such a happy litttle thread. Can't wait-4th party this year:cool1::cool1:

We did what you're talking about during a late Sept. MNSSHP last year & it worked out really well. It was right in the middle of our trip so we planned to stay at Epcot until close the night before our MNSSHP evening, slept in that day & explored around our resort, napped in the afternoon & were at MK around 4:30/5pm. Our 4.5 yr old and 23 mo. old made it to midnight since they were so rested! The next day we slept in a little again & went back to Epcot to do World Showcase since it doesn't open until 11am. It worked out very well for us. HTH!

You're correct! Traditionally they start letting party ticket holders into the park at 4pm, so you would definitely be able to sleep in, hit DTD, then make your way to the MK after changing!

that is a great idea :thumbsup2 my parents will be with us this year (1st timers), & we don't want to tire them out too much! So, i'm going to add this to our plan. Thanks:goodvibes

I have to read this thrad in its entirety; but i'm pretty sure I'm going in October!!!! :cool1: :wizard:

HI!

We are going mid Oct. and are planning on attending our first MNSSHP. My question is, if we purchase ticket to the party it includes addmission to the park (anytime after 4?), right? We will be down there for 8 days and planned on an eight day hopper but we were thinking that if that ticket gets us into the park we may get a 7 day hopper and take the day that we attend the party to sleep in alittle and go to DTD for awhile then go back to our resort and change into our costume and go to MK about 4ish. Will that work?

Yep It does get you after 4pm but the diffrence between 8 and 7 Is not that much unless you really did not plan to go to any other parks that day. We went to other parks that day(well we did MNSSHP twice) and then went back to POP and changed. We love It!! and so much fun but paln early to get to the parade It fills up fast!! at least the good spots and If you goto the frist parade just find a good spot for both the parade and fireworks you can just hang out there.

I am actually looking for some tips?

Does anyone have any ideas for simple costumes(that would be the same theme) for our family. It will be Me, DH, DD18 & DD 23 months? It would need to be something light as we are going in mid Sept. and will probably still be very hot.

I'm trying to think of a costume too. I might do Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, but I doubt I'll want to do the white makeup.... That's the only idea I have so far.

Hi there! My daughter and I put on some wings (like what they sell at claire's) and brightly colored t-shirts, and got our faces painted at the start of the party. We felt beautiful and it was nice and cool!

OH! I Like that idea!!

You can have our idea for this year since they're no longer having the early sept. party we were planning on:sad1: - we were going as the Hercules gang - Hera, Hades, Megara and Hermes (that would be a cute one for the baby). Easy, cool, comfortable costumes - togas!!
We have also done the mouseketeers thing and all the Alice in Wonderland characters. You are definitely right to keep the costumes cool - it is always very hot in mid Sept.

Thanks you all for the great ideas. I really like the Mouseketeer idea. Now if I can only get my DH and older DD to agree to it! ;)

I would love to do Winefred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus for myself but I think it would be way too hot.

My DW has signed off on allowing me to go as "Dagobah Luke", DS 2 as Yoda on my back, and DW as Leia- if I can pull it off...
