MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

anyone know the kinds of candy they're giving out this year??? any m&m's or reese's?? snickers? or just sugar candy and raisins again?

Some chocolate, but not much. I got mostly Mary Janes, Now & Later, lots and lots and lots of Smarties, generate lollipops, Bit o'Honey, some Starburst, a few Bottle Caps, Nerds, Laffy Taffy and Tootsie Pops. Realistically, I would have loved more chocolate, but it was HOT during the 9/4 party. Most of it had begun to melt by the time we got back to the hotel. Oh, I we never got any reasons or non-candy items.

Yipes! There was a year that they gave out just sugar candy and raisins?:scared1:

Please or please, tell me there is chocolate in my future . . . anyone?

Okay, so I'm REALLY disappointed to hear this. Those "treats" are a Halloween nightmare, at least for me. What you've listed is all the stuff that used to stay in the trick-or-treat bowl (the bowl I had to put everything in after I got back, so mom could go through it) UNTIL THE BITTER END, WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE LEFT TO EAT.

And it's not just me. That's the same stuff my kids used to leave in their bowl, too.

Oh yuck.

Sorry. I know this for a fact because I'm sitting here looking into the bowl. :rotfl: We also got a few bags of M&Ms, but not many, and the candy is everything collected by 3 people. Maybe they'll bring out more chocolate as the weather gets cooler? :confused3

I see that the Villains show times are 7:45pm, 9pm, 10:05pm, and 11:15pm. Can anyone verify which shows the Villains came down for pictures? I know people have said that one of the shows they don't. But I can't seem to find which time was the one that they didn't? Thanks!

I think I read it's the show just before the fireworks (there apparently isn't enough time for the pictures before Hallowishes starts) - so my guess is it would be the 9:00 pm show.

1. Wait for later to get candy.
2. Go to Mickey and Minnies houses later in the evening as well....there was no wait and we got great pics with both in their halloween costumes. We waited 5 mins to see them both.
3. Pay attention a few mins before the parade to see the headless horseman ride through. He goes FAST. The kids loved him. But if you don't pay attention you will miss him.
4. Give yourself some time at the end of the night to look around the shops. They are open a bit later than 12......because you won't want the night to end! So much fun.....;)

If that's the case I'm happy to be going at the end of October! Fingers crossed that you're right!

NOPE!

We went Oct 31 last year and hardly no chocolate. We could have cared less though....to much other stuff to do! The kids were happy to go to a few candy stops...but wait until you see the lines for some of these. If your kids are older wait until later. They don't run out of candy....and a lot of people with really young kids, have to get the candy early before their kids crash.

Aw, man! Burst my chocolate bubble! :lmao:
Actually I agee that it's more about the party and the fun stuff to do than the candy. We're going to MNSSHP at the end of our trip, so by then the kids will hopefully have had enough treats that it won't matter if they don't get tons of candy, chocolate or otherwise!

Looking for some specific character info for anyone who has gone or is going soon.

1. When do Snow white and the dwarves come out for the first set and where?

2. If anyone remembers or takes note of which villians go where from left to right in front of the castle after the show (we are looking for Maleficent and Cruella specifically).

3. Is the Queen of Hearts on the Alice treat trail? Also is the Walrus?

4. What were Pooh and Friends wearing and is there any real good time to meet them?

Thanks!

I've only got partial answers for people, but thought I'd share what I do know.

I know the Villains were out after the 10:05 show because we saw them before the last parade at 10:30.

1. Wait for later to get candy.
2. Go to Mickey and Minnies houses later in the evening as well....there was no wait and we got great pics with both in their halloween costumes. We waited 5 mins to see them both. When we were there on the 4th, there was still a line for Mickey and Minnie at their houses at 9:15.
3. Pay attention a few mins before the parade to see the headless horseman ride through. He goes FAST. The kids loved him. But if you don't pay attention you will miss him. If you watch the parade from the bridge leading to Liberty Square, or on the Hub side leading to Liberty Square, the Headless Horseman rides over the bridge (toward the Hub), then stops on the bridge to wait for his cue to continue through the Hub and onto Main Street. We know because we were standing on the Liberty Square side and asked the CM near us why he stopped. ;)
4. Give yourself some time at the end of the night to look around the shops. They are open a bit later than 12......because you won't want the night to end! So much fun.....;)
Someone mentioned earlier that the Emporium closed promptly at midnight. I don't know because I was gone already. The biggest choice of Halloween items is in the Merchant of Venus store in Tomorrowland. That's the only place we were able to find the party only pins and a different MNSSHP tshirt than was out in other stores.

Malicefant's (sp?) line was all the way to the right when you're facing the Castle. That was the only one I was concerned with, so I'm not sure about the order of the others.

3. Is the Queen of Hearts on the Alice treat trail? Also is the Walrus?

4. What were Pooh and Friends wearing and is there any real good time to meet them?

Hope this limited info helps!

::yes:: Yuck is right! :rotfl: My dd has braces and can't eat all those sticky candies that the other poster listed, even if she did like them! I can understand that chocolate will melt, but come on -- for $55 a person, I think they could do better than that! Skittles, fruit snacks, my kids even like those little bags of pretzels better than Now&Laters and Bit o' Honey!

But seriously, we're not really there for the candy, either. We were hoping to get a little sweet snack in the evening, but we may have to buy ice cream somewhere, instead. :goodvibes

Hey....I also wanted to mention we were at the Disney Store last year a few days before halloween and the costumes were 50-75% off! They were awesome....very detailed. It was the one at the Orlando mall. DD got Demi and DS got Power Rangers but there were LOTS to choose from. They didn't end up wearing the costumes we brought with us.;)

went to the party in 07 and loved it!! we're doing it again this year....i've always loved halloween...so this is just my thing!! :D

We are thinking of going to MNSSHP next week when were are in WDW. DD just turned one. I know that we don't have to pay for her, but would you go with a 1yo and go on the rides seperatly and take pictures with the character or wait till she is bigger and will really enjoy it? She loves the characters and goes crazy when she sees them!

BTW, my parents went last year and the end of September and said they couldn't believe all the chocolate they were given. They had to turn it down by the end bc it was just too much. They also got card game packs.

Does anybody know which performance of the Villians Mix and mingle show that they do not come down after for photos. Thanks
