MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Seems lots of you are going on Friday 25th, me too :yay: Along with all the 2009 Disney World Moms Panel and some of the 2008 Moms so look out for a huge giggly group in pink shirts and pink boas :thumbsup2

I'm also planning on being there on September 25th. A friend and I are doing a grown-ups only trip - we're participating in the Expedition Everest Challenge on Saturday and Food and Wine Fest on Sunday - a fun, fun weekend!! All three things are "firsts" for us.

I've read your TRs although I think I mainly remained a lurker... I thought I ought to warn you that if I see you, I might say Hi!

thanks, disney55! yes it is the 25th. keep getting my dates mixed up! think i may be a little delirious from staying up til 1am reading everybody's posts! :rotfl:

staying up till 1 am is good training for all the late nights/early mornings you will be enjoying soon. see you on the 25th.:woohoo:

We'll be there the 29th. It's hubby's birthday, sounded like a great way to spend the evening!

I'm doing EE5K and F&W on the Sunday too, are you stalking me? ;):rotfl2: Just kidding definitely say Hi if you see us all :goodvibes Oh and all 3 are firsts for me too, I can't wait :thumbsup2

I am also going to the party on Sept. 25th!! I can't believe how fast this trip has crept up on me. My daughter just went back to school yesterday so I am in back to school mode - not WDW mode!! Her marching band is hosting a big competition this Saturday and I am helping with that so once this weekend is over, hopefully I will switch gears and start getting reading for my Disney trip. It's only my oldest son and I. He is taking two days off from work (teacher) to take me to WDW for the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP!! Other son is away at college and my daughter doesn't want to miss school and a band competition so husband is staying home with her.

We stayed at the POP in Jan 08. It was really chilly out, especially in the evenings. But I asked and they said the water was 83 degrees. It was! So the swimming was fine, it was the run back to the room that was a problem! Regardless, October will be great swimming weather!

I think October is one of the most beautiful weather months of all the months I've been to WDW (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec). You can definitely swim.

Yes, some restaurants will remain open during the party. You can look at this year's party map (posted in this thread and under Events on this board) and see which ones are open. I know Cosmic Ray, Pesco Bills, Casey's Corner and the MK Bakery are open. I know there's a couple more.

We went the same week you are going two years ago and it was HOT! I mean really hot! I think what got me was the hummidity, we are from the west coast, so not used to it at all. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time in the pool at our resort. It is definitely swim weather the first part of October in Florida! :thumbsup2

Thinking of doing the party the week of 9/20 the 22nd. Just wondering if you have to buy tickets in advance? Can we get tickets in MK on our first park day?? Surely that date wont sell out?

Thanks in Advance:goodvibes

2. Photo Op- There is a large room next to the Dole Whip stand that is opened up for the party. For the past couple of years at least, they have had Tarzan (my teen DD's are big fans) and some other characters in there. Hardly anyone goes in there. As you exit, they give you special candy. The year before last, it was full-sized bag of Hershey's Kissables candy. Last year it was something less impressive, but it was different from the candy being distributed elsewhere.

I´ll be going Oct 8 and this sure is a place not to be miss...
My only problems is I didn´t understand exactly where is it. LOL
You see... English is not my first language and I am having a hard time trying to figure out where exactly in MK is this hot spot.
Anyone?

Thanks,

Simone.

It's in Adventureland, in the general vicinity of Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride and across from the Swiss Family Tree House. There will be signs out around that area letting you know it's a character spot. Otherwise, just ask anyone and they'll be happy to tell you. Enjoy!

woohoo on the swiming... that sounds like wonderful news for the little one..

i can't wait now.... i saw the map, just got to figure out what and who we really want to see...

ty for all the help on the questions guys.

DISBOARDS rocks...:cool1::cool1::cool1::hippie:

I guess we'll be joining you on the crazy train because we are going on Halloween too! It's the last night of our vacation and we just couldn't imagine not going to MNSSHP when we are already going to be at WDW on Halloween.

We will be attending on Halloween night too and can't wait. One question though: our disney stores in our area all all closed. Where can i get one of the trick or treat bags they are selling?

anyone know the kinds of candy they're giving out this year??? any m&m's or reese's?? snickers? or just sugar candy and raisins again?
