MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

i have ordered my tickets to be mailed to me and that worked very well.

one year i was told that it would be better to have them held on will call. we got to the window on the night of the party to pick them up, they said they did not have any tickets for me. :headache: i had the confirmation # and all, but they said there was nothing with that confirmation #. i finally got out my credit card that i used to pay for them and said i would call them and have them verify the charges on my card. the lady called the ph. # on the card (or someone else) and spoke for a minute and said, you are lucky that you had the cc you paid for them with with you. if you had not, you would not have had a ticket at all. :sad2: she gave me tickets and we went in. it was a sold out night (halloween) and my children would have been very upset if we had not gotten in.

now i always take my cc and the statement they are on with me so that i have proof of my purchase. it seems as tho a confirmation # is not proof that you have paid for a ticket.

please take your proof with you. ;) just a little advice!:thumbsup2

We're like you. We want something, even if it's only a t-shirt but would rather something a little more creative. We want to keep cool as we are going 9/15.

Anybody with ideas?

Good to know we're not alone. If we do decide on something we'll be sure to post it. :goodvibes

I think peter pan & tinkerbell would both be cool, comfortable costumes to wear and something you could find at disney stores (online too) or your local party store for a generic costume.

Buy a couple Mickey Mouse Club T-Shirt and put you names on them...then get mickey ears at the party. You're set! You'll be Mouseketeers AND you'll be comfy in the Florida heat! :thumbsup2

These are good ideas! :thumbsup2:

I bought mine and my husband's at buycostumes.com. We buy from them every year...even for dd. Cute stuff and lots to choose from.

DH and I are going as Hansel and Gretal. Lederhosen is shorts, so he won't get hot, and Gretal wears a short skirt (not too short - it is Disney!) and short sleeves, so I won't get hot. Hopefully it will work out - early October is hit or miss in Florida. Could be hot, could be cold. Either way - should make for cute pics!

Thanks for posting that link! It looks like a good site and I really like your Hansel and Gretal Costumes :goodvibes

Just wanted to introduce myself (hi :goodvibes) and say thank you for this amazing thread!!! I grew up on Disney World, but this is my first time going to MNSSHP (which happens to fall in my honeymoon). This thread has been amazing, and helped to talk my soon to be DH into dressing up... Birdwell and Kronk at the September 11th party!

Things can get so busy and crazy with life... and the planning of a Disney trip is always half the fun. Thanks to everyone for helping to get me beyond excited!!! :goodvibes

Sidenote... Does anyone know if Liberty Tree is still a character meal?? Haven't been there in a while and we have reservations for the night of the party...

Thanks for the kind words!!! We'll be the ones with "Property of Kronk" and "Property of Birdwell" printed all over our costumes ;)

for those kids at heart that are going in costume-where are you finding them in stock at-I am starting to stress out (we are mid Sept) because I am having a hard time finding the adult costumes in stock-just curious

I've found store fronts (not just individuals) on ebay that sell costumes, and I've also purchased with costumekingdom.com. Have fun ~ we just love Halloween & have fallen in love with MHSSHP!

I don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but we just found a great deal at the Disney store in Hershey, PA. They had a bunch of tote bags on sale for $2.50 a piece, including super cute halloween ones! They are nice a big so can fit TONS of candy! :mickeyjum

Yea! Thanks laurainsem for posting this. I just ran out an picked two up about an hour ago. I had to ask for them as the Halloween stuff isn't supposed to be out yet at my store's location. This is why I love the DIS :yay: :grouphug: :thanks: :disrocks:

This is a really good idea.

That is exactly what we did last year. One of the dissigners made us the old Mickey Mouse Club logos with our names on them. They were great. We ironed them on some white t-shirts and wore black shorts and mouse ears. We were comfortable all evening long and enjoyed being dressed up. We received several comments from CM's and other party goers on our costumes. i wish I could find a picture to post but for the life of me right now I can't locate any of them.

Lots of good info here. So much to sort out! We did MNSSHP in 07, and had a total blast. Here was our strategy - ymmv...

We got there between 630 and 7pm, and got in with no problems. They were in the process of getting the regular crowd to exit as we were coming in. Yes, things were a bit heavier, but manageable.

There were CERTAIN rides that were priorities, but not ALL. Don't try to do them all, as has been said here before. HM is a MUST. Plus, make sure to take in all of the "atmosphere" around you. There are some "ghosts" that like to linger outside HM during the party. Also - make sure to check out the Liberty Belle Riverboat....rumor has it that it's taken over by the ghosts of riverboat captains and confederate soldiers (major cool).

The kiosk by HM is the best place to get a MNSSHP t-shirt. (crowds are usually manageable)

Be patient, and go thru ALL of the candy lines..lots of fun, a few character surprises, and TONS OF CANDY!!

Good spots are a-plenty for HalloWishes, because it's one of those shows where they've got it going on both in front and behind (if you know what I mean).

...now, I can't go giving ALL of my secrets, can I? Just go with the flow, and have fun!

WOW! Talk about some GREAT tips for our first MNSSHP. DH's b-day is Nov. 1 and we are going to MNSSHP on Halloween night as part of his "present". We are old enough that we don't have kids in tow while at Disney, but we never feel older than mid-teens ourselves while planning our trips and being there.

We are really excited about going to the party and dressing up. We did MVMCP in December and loved it! We did enter MK at 4 PM on the day of the party so I doubt anyone will have trouble with that.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread and keep the information coming.

We look forward to seeing all of you who will be there on Halloween!!!!! :woohoo:pirate::wizard:princess::woohoo:

A poster on a different thread mentioned that they were able to get a discounted ticket to MNSSHP on the day of the party due to low ticket sales for that nights party. Anyone else experinced this? How often? :confused3

Actually I paid more since it was halloween night.

I know the party stores in my area are just starting to unpack the costumes (some are out & some from last year are discounted), so I think another week or 2 & it will all be out. Ebay has a lot of stuff year round. I have 1/2 my costume & am chomping at the bit to find the remaining pieces. A friend told me that at most stores once the back to school stuff is sold out, the Halloween costumes & decorations go up.

I posted earlier about trying to find a lightweight, easy costume idea for DBF and I.... I think we're just going to go as "Hawaiian themed"... I'm going to wear a capris with a grass skirt over it and a tank top and lei and flowers in my hair.. DBF is going to wear a lei and get a hawaiian shirt and just wear shorts.. I'd like to thank google.. got the idea by googling "warm weather halloween costumes"

:thumbsup2 Cheap and easy! I can't wait!!

Question: we're going on 10/15, a Thursday night. How far in advance should we buy the tickets?

I love the Halloween bags! They were $2.50, right?

I bought my tickets a month ago for 9/22. I have heard that most dates people can buy day of. I was just paranoid- this is our very first trip, and I didn't want to chance it. I feel silly now though. :rotfl:

OK...did I miss something? You gotta share! :scared1:
