MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

What would be the best day to go? Our dates could either be September 15 or September 18. One being a Friday and one being a Tuesday. Would it make a difference which day we go with it being early in September still? I was thinking less people would be at the Tuesday date but wasn't sure if that made a difference? :confused3

What bags did you guys buy? In my disney store there was no halloween theme ones...So I got a minnie and a pooh one..............

Thanks

Several people have commented about buying their own bags. I may be mistaken -- but I thought I had read somewhere that you can only use the bags that Disney hands out with proof of your MNSSHP wristband. Otherwise, anyone could collect candy :confused3

Here is my tip for the MNSSHP:

Do not plan to go to the Bippity Boppity Boutique that night. At the very latest, your appt should be about 5 p.m. We scheduled a trip for my daughter and it was pandemonium -- not an exaggeration.

Our 5:30 appointment wasn't called until 7 p.m. and I am not even kidding. By the time we got out of there it was like 8:30 p.m. and the trick or treating was kind of over because fireworks were next.

It was a bummer, but we learned a lesson. No Bippity Boppity. No.

How cool! What part of PA are you from? I used to live in Gettysburg but am now in the boondocks, just outside Huntingdon. It looks like we will be there about the same time. We arrive on the 12th and are staying through the 20th. Maybe we'll see each other!

I actually live in Frederick, MD. My sis is in Harrisburg and my parents are in Carlisle. We will be POR. Where are you staying at?

But then we came back a couple of nights later. This time we had ADRs at Kona for 5:00pm so we just kept them then hopped on the monorail to MK. Wow - what a difference! The sun was going down and the entrance was foggy, the music was playing, the CMs were greeting everyone, the special lighting and effects were on the Main Street buildings. Just a wonderful atmosphere that we had totally missed the first night.

Thanks so much for your post.

We are only in-town for one day (after attending a wedding in Ft. Meyers the day before) to hit MNSSHP and since we are staying at the Poly I made a 5:00 ADR for Ohana's (we have not been able to get a good ADR time for it in over the past couple trips). We plan on having the kids already dressed up before dinner to jump right on the monorail after we eat.

Reading the earlier posts I was concerned that I will be making a big mistake by not getting to the MK at the crack of 4:00 with ADRs in-hand for LTT at 5:30. You post has restored my confidence that my plan may still be OK.

Any other thoughts on my plan? Should I give up on my desire to hit Ohana's before the party?

I was under the impression that trick or treating was available all night long, right up until Midnight and then there are more CM's with trick or treat candy on the way out??....

I believe this is where I met Jack Sparrow at the Pirate and Princess Party last year. There were only two people in front of us for him too!

Yep, that is exactly the spot where they had Jack for the P&PP. Didn't they did a real nice job theming the queues in that room during those parties.

Oh no ~ DDs appt. is for 5:30pm on our party night. I'm on hold right now to see if I can move the time up or switch to a different day.

We're doing the 15th - our plan is that we do this date hoping that it doesn't rain, and if it does we still have another date to try while we're there! :thumbsup2

Side note: Love this thread, however, I don't agree w/ the don't waste your time w/ rides idea....it was so awesome to walk on every single ride! We got to ride almost everything, see the 2nd parade, fireworks, stage show, meet some characters and fill our trick or treat bags on a Friday night party all before 11 pm (i know w/ no kids its easier), it goes by fast but there is time for it all! We were the only people in line for pirates in the whole building and the only people on the ride at like 8 pm! Also we went to MK at 4 pm w/ our party pass and the place was dead! We went on all the tomorowland rides as walk ons and the place was starting to clear out well before the party started. Maybe not always the case, but it was awesome.

Good to hear ~ we already have tix for Fri. 10/2.

Trick or Treating IS available ALL night...A LOT of people with children get their candy early, and then leave after the fireworks. This works in favor for those of us without children who stay all night. :yay:

Nope, you can use any bag you want, the one they hand out or one that you bring with you. :)

No, not anyone can collect candy. After 7:00p only those with wristbands are there (hopefully) and the CMs will check for them. Doesn't matter what bag you use. They'll check for wristbands, not bags.

Well, if Halloween night is crowded I apologize in advance. ;)
Our Grand Gathering (all 25 of us) will be there that night!
So far we have 3 little girls going as Silvermist, Rosetta and Tinker"bella" (my neice's name is Bellatrix).
The grandparents are going as mouseketeers...shirts with their name on them and mickey ears.
DH is going to be Jack Sparrow, he is going to the Pirate League with DS at 2pm to get the multi-eyed Jack done and he is diligently working on growing out his goatee.
Some of us still need to figure out what we are going as...hey, we still have 87 days to figure it out---what! only 87 days, gotta get a move on!
We are having dinner at 'Ohana at 5 (ADR already made) and then moseying on over to the MK. With folks ranging in age from 10 months to 82 years old we aren't trying to rush anything.
DH, DS, DD and I all did MNSSHP in 2005 and loved it...DD passed out in the stroller during the second parade but it was a great night!!

i went to Ohana's at 5pm, then went straight to MNSSHP. I didnt feel that we missed anything getting there after 4pm. I am thinking of doing this again this year. We'd be over to MK by 6:30pm. I remember seeing tons of regular people still be moved out of the park. They were not finished at 7 either.

Does anyone know if LTT will have characters on MNSSHP days? all day?

I read after going to MNSSHP that there was things to do on the ferry, is this still true?

If you buy tickets the day of. Can you buy them anywhere in the park that day? I never thought of the rain and may just keep both nights open in case of rain! With it being in September will there be a chance of them selling out?

Does anyone know if there are photopass photographers at each character location/meet and greet? Thanks!

Quick question:

Can you use FP for rides during the party? We'll be at MK during the day, and it is our last day of the entire trip, so if we have some FP can we use them? Or I guess we may not need them, from the sounds of it, not a lot of folks do the rides.

You shouldn't need FP during the parties. We went to MVMCP last year and rode on BTMRR and Splash Mtn multiple times in a row w/o getting off.

We are also going October 2nd. I will buy tickets when we get to Florida like we did last year, since we are going to the party the last day of our trip. I have to tell you I was so scared last year that we picked a Friday for the party after reading these boards, however it was perfect and there were no crowds. Even for the fireworks the street infront of the castle was empty, especially compared to seeing wishes earlier that week where we were elbow to elbow w/ tons of people. And I did hear that the tuesday party that week was more crowded (reverse psychology?) We went one week earlier last year on 9/25 which was the first day of Food and Wine and first night of Universal Halloween so maybe that helped. See you at the party we will be Mike and Sully:banana:
