MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Ok, this is all just pure speculation, but wouldn't it be awesome if Jack Sparrow was out for meet and greets since he only ever showed up at the Pirate/Princess parties and now those are supposedly over?

When my daughter and I went to the MK last September, Captain Jack Sparrow was at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, on the path into the ride! He was peering out from the "prison" bars that are at the bottom of one of the walls as you walk through the halls.

This was during normal park hours and not during the MNSSHP. I am not sure if there was a party scheduled for that night. Either way, you might want to look for him there.

He talked to my daughter for quite a few minutes -- wow, he was the BEST Captain Jack ever -- he REALLY looked like him and his manner and voice were goose-bump perfect. He posed for pictures, too.

Needless to say, my daughter fell in love with him.

Shhhhhh . . . so did Mom!

I just got off the phone with a Cast Member ticket agent, and she told me that if you have tickets, you are allowed to switch them to another night if needed.

I do not know if there are any time limits on it, for example if you miss the party then try to go later in the week, I don't know if you could do that as the tickets are nonrefundable. I'm also not sure how soon in advance you need to call if you want to swap times.

If this has been posted elsewhere on this thread, please forgive. :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone for the awesome information on here! This is our first MNSSHP and we are really looking forward to it. Quick question - we are not wanting to dress up too much, but are thinking of wearing funny hats or headbands w/ something on it. Anyone have any suggestions or places that you've bought something like this? I'd consider making my own . . .even though I'm not very crafty! :lmao:

got our tickets in mail today!

one MAJOR question....is face painting really FREE during MNSSHP???? The regular face painting normally offered in the parks???? TIA

I have not been to a sold out MNSSHP...as far as I know. I was at a sold out MVMCP, I had two extra tickets and sold them to a CM who was very appreciative because she couldn't get them. Generally speaking if you go to the most popular rides right off the bat (Haunted Mansion) The lines are long, long compared to a party night not a sold out day at WDW.

For the Christmas part it seemed once the crowds settled there excitement and got into a flow everything was less than a ten minute wait. As I recall later in the night, with about 90 minutes or 2 hrs left in the party, everything was pretty much a walk on/in. That included some of the free hot cocoa and cookie stands and for pictures.

Do your shopping for party items, pins and shirts, early. They have run out in the past.

Any idea if you can buy your MNSSHP shirts ahead of time? Any ideas of where to find this year's logos? i was hoping to make my own shirts for all of us. it will be cooler to wear shirts than dressing up and one less hassle of trying to rush and buy them when the party opens!

I know that for the MVMCP they give out hot chocolate and cookies/apple slices. Do they do anything like that for the MNSSHP? (Other than the candy?)

Hmm, I wonder if that was just the Jack from the Pirates tutorial being bored and running around. Either way, awesome that you got to meet him.

PrincessAndie,
They give out candy. That is a great reason for going...free candy, anytime WDW gives something out for free take advantage of it!! Remember...FREE, except for the $55 ticket.

Last year the shirts were top secret, even the stores didn't bring them out to sell until 7pm exactly! We wore tank tops to the park until we could get our party shirts. If you know of someone else who may be attending a party prior to yours have them purchase the shirts for you.

Here's a link for MNSSHP I started last year. you may be able to get some costume ideas and I belive I posted pics of our shirts.

oh my kids will be so excited :rotfl:...hey I am even get my face painted...is it all the same options normally offered in the parks?

I think they offer a smaller selection for free face painting, I am not a 100% sure but I seem to recall a smaller list of choices

If my memory is correct and they limit MNSSHP tickets to 25,000, it shouldn't be very crowded in the park during the party. On top of that, people will be doing the party-specific stuff, so it makes sense that ride lines would be pretty short.

I hope I'm right!! ;)
I have been to parties that weren't sold out and still felt very crowded to me. Line for attractions weren't long, but it just felt SO crowded getting to and from where you wanted to go. Personally, I would not want to go on a sold out night.

But then I am used to going at relatively uncrowded times of year -- January, February, September, October, early December. I have never been during Christmas week or Easter week or anything. Compared to that it might feel not so bad at a sold out MNSSHP, I don't know. The crowded parties I did attend (again, not sold out that I know of) felt more crowded than our one visit to Disney in early June.

No, I think for MVMCP the cookies are in place of MNSSHP's candy.

For those in the Boston area, just an FYI - the Disney Store in the South Shore Plaza has the $2.50 Halloween bags out now. There were quite a few, and they're still there - my all-too-practical daughter wouldn't let me buy them! :lmao:
