MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Hi I'm Tracy and I am a charac-ta-holic LOL

Really??? That's just sad...... I think people who go to Disney and just waste their time stalking characters are such a sad lot...... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think I need a 12 step program...... And we're in trouble. We're going on this trip with my husband and son who think Disney is about the RIDES!! :scared1:

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

Thanks

Im not going to wait on the fairies line since I'm there for 10 days I can see them anytime :) and Have seen them before.

Darby is out during the day in Pooh's thoughtful spot with Pooh & Friends. Well she was there Dec 2008 on regular days.

Ah, we were there in January 2009 so we should have seen her. I wasn't looking for her though, so I guess we just missed her. We'll have to look for her this time. :goodvibes

That coming from a woman who sews an outfit for her daughter to wear to match every character.

Rides???? Are there rides in Disney World??? :confused3

Last MVMCP Mike (DH) and Zach (DS) went on ride after ride well Mom & I stood on line for characters. They saved us a spot for the parade, 10 minutes before it started the boys went back to the resort (they were both coming down with colds)

BTW: the only place that I found that sold child meds in MK was the tent in toontown

Maybe you should bring your cell and meet up later LOL Oh wait you can't whos gonna carry your big bag.

My sister and I are planning to go to MNSSHP on November 1. Has anyone here ever done the party after the actual holiday? Will it be the height of the party crowd due to Halloween being the day before?

Thanks, this is my first post!!
:thumbsup2

I,m a board newbie, only wish I had discovered this place before my last few trips it's great.
Can I ask if you think the MNSSHP would be too scary or overwhelming for a 20 month old boy? I,ve been before and loved it but I'm in two minds about how my youngest will cope with it all.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: You guys are cracking me up! I am a HUGE character fan myself. Disney wouldn't be the same without the characters! We are going 9/11-9/14 for my 18th birthday and I have made an autograph book for all the characters to sign their own page. :rolleyes1 I have about 100 character pages and I am determined to fill them up. :rotfl:
I'm making a tinkerbell dress for MNSSHP and I don't want to carry the wings around. My Mom and I were trying to figure out what we were going to tell Tink about why I don't have wings. All we have come up with so far is "Captian Hook/Peter Pan stole them." Any suggestions? Haahaa.

They only have it after Halloween if it 'works' for them. For example, when Halloween fell on a Wed (2007) and a thurs (2002) they had one more on the Friday after. This year since Halloween fell on Saturday they decided to add one more on Sunday.

It's very hard to tell if and when they'll do it again though.

Maybe buy a set down there.

maybe you can say "they" took your wings because you had a fly by dusting LOL :lmao:

Darby is out during the day in Pooh's thoughtful spot with Pooh & Friends. Well she was there Dec 2008 on regular days.

I don't think Darby appears for meet & greets anymore (though she is in the Playhouse Disney show at Hollywood Studios).

Christopher Robin also doesn't appear for meet & greets, but I think he's in the MNSSHP and MVMCP parades.

Here are some great websites that character fans might want to check out if they haven't yet seen them:
http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares
www.wdwinsiders.com/character_finder.php
www.wdwautographs.com
They're all great resources for character info!

I have been to MVMCP a couple times.
I saw Aladdin/Jasmine, Cinderella/Prince Charming, Aurora/Prince Philip, Snow White/Prince together as couples.

So does Belle show up with the Beast anywhere during the party???

Well.... I don't make a costume for EVERY character..... we have pictures with Buzz Lightyear last year in "regular" clothes.....

I finally decided I had to attend the Halloween party so I could get in on some of the costume fun. I need someone to order up some "cool-ish" weather for 9/29 so I can wear my Evil Queen for longer than our 30 second photo op!

And I'd send the big bag off with the boys (who will no doubt disappear to the other side of the park when I get out MY costume.....) But you never know when we'll need another costume!

I can't believe we're going to miss each other by like a day. We really need to do a better job of synchronizing calendars next time!

We are going to MNSSHP on Sept 4. It will still be hot. I was thinking just Halloween t-shirts. I saw a few at Target. Are they out at Old Navy yet? Also do they sell MNSSHP t-shirts or anything my younger ones could wear as costumes at the party or anywhere in WDW? Not looking for full costumes--too hot.

Hi! We'll be at that party as well -- DD13 will be dressed up as a pink pirate, I'll be in a black tshirt with neon colored skulls and mom will be dressed in an orange tshirt with witches hat. If you see us, stop and say hello! I've never met a DISer while at WDW, so hoping to meet some people this year.

My dd (4) is wearing her Tink costume and won't have wings either....I think I am going to have her use the "Captain Hook took them" line...if you don't mind.

I don't think I could carry/wear wings all over the park. Please be my guest...is it sad that I burst out in song when I typed that? :rolleyes1 I thought the Hook thing was funny and I hope that Tink does too. :goodvibes

My daughter and I just recently decided to attend the party on Sept. 4th. I'm not too thrilled with the extra $100+, but I think the return on investment will be worth it. Especially since this will be my DDs first Disney World trip.

We're staying at POP from Sept. 3-8

We're so close!!!

Welcome to the DIS! :goodvibes

I think the biggest issue with taking a 20 month old would be bedtime. Does he go to sleep early? Will he be able to stay awake for most of the party, at least?

There's really nothing scary about the party. You could skip the villians show if you think he wouldn't like that. Most everything else is fun and festive, not scary. Even the villians show isn't really scary, but it is full of, well, villians. ;)

As for being overwhelming... I don't think it's any more so than the parks are in general. Disney is a big place, as you know, with an amazing number of sights and sounds, characters, fireworks, parades, etc. The only real difference with the MNSSHP is that it all takes place in the dark (less of it at night if you're going in early September, more if you're going in late October, of course). The parade and fireworks are unique, and there are characters you don't see elsewhere, in costume, etc. The trick or treating and dance parties are terrific for little ones. There is a lot going on, but then there is a lot going on at each park during the day too. I'm sure you know what I mean.

So, if you think he'd enjoy it, the big question is... will he be awake long enough to experience it? ;)
