MNSSHP - Storming Oct. 4th

I have never seen rain like this in WDW before. I know its rainy season, but this seems to even be excessive for this time of year...

We are in the transition from our rainy season to the dry season. During the dry season, the rain we get is triggered by cold fronts passing through and the rain lasts longer than during the wet season (sometimes a day or two) but is typically not as heavy.

So we have had a cold front trying to pass through that just isn't moving fast - leaving the Orlando area under the high chance of rain from the front, but also still getting the sea breeze storms from the "wet" season as well - a not so great combo. It's not typical October weather, but it can happen when we make that transition (it can also happen in May as the seasons reverse). My rain gauge had four inches in an hour and half period, and just over five inches total for 10/4/12.

The front is finally supposed to clear the area by tomorrow and this week looks better weatherwise - for now . . . .

Took my nephews to the party Thursday night. Had a great time even with the rain. Did not even think about going to Guest Services, but when I got home saw this thread so called yesterday. Disney is great and gave us tix for another night. They didn't have to do anything but did! That kind of customer service is why we are all here.

We were there for the 4th party. We were first in line for the princesses so we were inside when the rain began. At 7 pm we met the princesses then we were faced with the outdoors. All we had were ponchos so we put them on and braved the streets. We were instantly soaked but tried to make the best of it. DD got a big of candy & got to enjoy the dance party with Jesse & Woody. We decided to leave at 9pm and on our way out there was a line wrapped around Town Square. We asked what the line was for and they said refunds or another night ticket. We got in line and stood there for 2 hours. At the very end of standing in the line, the CM's finally started saying you could go back to your resort and call the next day for tickets/refunds. We were almost there and my luck, that would've changed by the next day so we just stayed in line, got tickets for the following night and came back. We had a great time the next night even though we had to cancel our luau and had no costumes since they were soaked from the night before. I think we got around 10 lbs. of candy and met a ton of characters... it was fantastic!
