Hello! We're planning a trip for next year, to fall over my older son's 13th birthday. It occurred to us that, with a little tweaking, we would be able to attend the Halloween party, which we've never done but have heard many wonderful things about.

How are the crowd levels--both for the parks and the party--on the actual day of Halloween? Is it crazy? or more subdued because people stay home to trick or treat? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Halloween party on Halloween night (and all the parties that week) will be sold out. Main Street and the shows and character lines will be extremely crowded.

MNSSHP on halloween night will be sold out for sure. No doubt about that. Its sold out every year. Will it be crowded? Yes, sure. I attended a sold out MNSSHP last year. It was crowded, but we still had a ton of fun. Treat lines moved fast. We saw the parade twice that night. (the first time I didnt get good pics due to bad lighting, which is why i wanted to see it again lol). I noticed that after hallowishes, the crowds died down quite a bit. Which was nice. Towards midnight closing time the lines were non-existant. Mind you we didnt line up for any characters. Thats one thing i'll be doing at this years party...at least one character. :) In summary, yes its packed but we still had a fabulous time. I highly recommend it!!

On party nights, MK might not be as crowded during the day/morning simply because many guests who don't have hoppers stay away from MK since it closes at 7pm on party nights. Many will do another park instead. And guests with a party ticket normally can enter MK 4pm or later (but not before!)...these folks normally wont waste a ticket to go to MK during the day. Everyone is different, but i've noticed MK not as crowded during the day on party nights.

Someone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I have done the party on Halloween twice. Sold out, yes. Crowded, somewhat. I didn't think it was that bad IMHO. But i have also been in the park at other times where i thought it was worse than on Halloween. The best stories I have is when my kids say "Well we went Trick-or-Treating in the Magic Kingdom on Halloween twice!". It was a priceless memory that i will have for a lifetime.

It's worth the experience!

We are going to MNSSHP on Halloween this year for the second time. Enjoyed the ambiance and all the costumes. Sold out party but still a controlled number of guests. Lots of fun -- go for it!

:crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded::crowded:

Hopefully they sell no more that night than other sold out nights.

I would expect it to be higher energy and more adults than usual, which is still a lot.

What a great memory for a 13th birthday! I'd def do it!

I assume you mean going in 2017 for halloween? It will sell out so once you hear the party tickets are on sale you do not want to delay buying them...

It's a limited ticket event so crowded depends on who is attending the party.

Crowds found at special events:
1: Ride crowd, many will be on rides most of the night and because they disappear in the queues it feels less crowded walking around.
2: Party Crowd, they are out and about and nobody is on the rides and it makes it feel very crowded with long waits for everything that isn't a ride and very crowded to see shows, parades and fireworks..
3: somewhere inbetween.

Generally first (bloggers and press getting their news stories) and last party (usually the holiday where it's celebration time) is #2. The rest you can flip a coin and it'll be as accurate as anyone else guessing what it'll be.. you just don't know but I find when it's #2, that many families leave earlier than expected and the rest of the night is really nice.

Hey, thanks, everyone!

Yes, we're talking about 2017. We're just about to book the trip itself, so then we'd just have to hop on the party tickets as soon as they come out. (When is that, generally?)

We adore Disney, but we've never been to one of these types of events. I really appreciate the advice.

Hi! We are also planning on going to the party on 10/31/17! Very excited about it.

We did a sold out party a couple of years ago and loved it! During the first parade we went on rides- walked on most, waited a bit for Haunted Mansion. Got a good spot near Haunted Mansion to watch the second parade. Went on rides again, then the park cleared out and we went through the candy lines. We didn't wait for characters though, our choice.

Even though it was sold out, we loved it so much it is on our must do list for next year's trip - and definitely on Halloween itself. :p

I think we bought tickets last time around May. You should be fine buying them the first month or so, parties didn't start selling out until later in the summer.
