Thinking of picking up tickets for MNSSHP On Columbus Day but all of the crowd calenders have that day as one of the busiest of the month. Unfortunately it's the only day we'd be able to make it to the party. Would you still go?? Have never been and was looking forward to shorter lines. Will that still be the situation even on a super busy day? Appreciate any advice!! :yay:

Even if you assume the party will sell out that day (I'm sure it will), ride lines should still be pretty short. The lines that get long at the party tend to be those for party specific things like characters, trick or treating, parade, and Hallowishes.

I disagree. Vehemently. We were there on a sold out Columbus Day weekend last year. The HM line never dipped below 45 minutes all night, and I don't think the wait time was inflated as the line stretched all the way out the queue towards the Liberty Belle. The 7DMT was still 60 minutes at the stroke of midnight, and I believe that too as the line stretched all the way outside through the rope. BTMRR was broken a majority of the night, but when it came back online right as Hallowishes was ending, it immediately jumped to 30 minutes within the first 5 minutes it reopened.

Depending on what night you go, the "lines are shorter during MNSSHP" tagline is a myth.

Well, yes, the HM is going to be long because it's a Halloween party and people feel like that's an important part of the experience. And SDMT is new so demand is high. Obviously, everyone's experience is different, but our last 3 parties have been sell outs and we haven't waited long for rides at all.

I've been to 2 sell outs. One in 2011 had short ride waits, but ridiculously long character waits. The other sell out, last year over Columbus Day, had long waits for everything and was wall-to-wall people. I think there are way more people now that buy tickets to MNSSHP just for "shorter ride waits" than they used to. Less people seem interested in the party specific things, like the character meets. Its all going to depend on what the crowd around the OP is there to do. If he is surrounded by people that, like him, aren't interested in the party stuff, he's going to be disappointed in the wait times.

I do think they are selling more tickets to the parties than they were in 2011-2012. so that might also be why your experience was different.

I think they may have so much as doubled the number of tickets sold. 2010 was an absolute ghost town, it was wonderful. The same weekend the next year was a completely different experience. So much so that I refused to go in 2012.

Definitely interested in the party stuff as is all my group. Just got my Mike Wazowski costume together today! We're just not twelve years old and don't need bags of candy and can probably skip most character meets. Short lines just sounds like a great plus to all the decorations and festivities. Hope it's not wall to wall as you say. Ugh

We went on Columbus Day a couple of years ago. It was very busy and crowded, but if that's the only day you can go then you should still go. It's our favorite time of the year to go and we LOVE the MNSSHP!

Actually, according to the historic wait times, Columbus Day will be a sold out, but there are worse days to go. It is the 13th best day to go:

The locals will have school/work the next day, so it should not be as bad as a any weekend day.

I'm going on the Friday prior to Columbus Day, and it looks like historically that's the second worst day to go. I need to put together a plan of attack! It's our first time and I want to be prepared. Trying to figure out what time to line up for the parade, stage show and Hallowishes.

13th best day to go out of 25 sounds great to me! Thanks for this. Our first time too. Can't wait!!! :yay:
