Hi we're thinking of either doing MNSSHP in middle of September or MVMCP in November. Are the crowed not so crazy during these times?! Also worried about hurricane season and rain threatening to cancel the fireworks or parade shows?! Would hate to fly all the way from canada and pay for special tickets and have the shows cancelled. Thoughts on crowds and weather thanks

Hello! I'm also new to the boards but I have gone to mnsshp back in 2012 and I think they do the party rain or shine. Anyways we went at the end of Oct and it wasn't too bad as far as crowds go. However we had gone right around hurricane Sandy, we flew out from Maryland a few days before it hit our area. We had some family from NJ that was suppose to meet us at WDW and their flights got canceled. I mean you always take a gamble with weather. It's really impossible to know what each year will be like. I do recommend buying the tickets in advance though since I've seen them sell out for the mnsshp. Good luck with planning!

Crowds on party days and during the party are very light, especially later into the night.

During hurricane season, traveling at that time is always a risk, but if a hurricane is threatening the party, it will threaten your entire vacation so I don't think the extra $150 (ish) dollars should be a deciding factor.

I went to my first MNSSHP last year and thought that it was fantastic. The parade and the fireworks alone were well worth the additional cost of the ticket, not to mention all the candy I collected while trick-or-treating. PLUS .... the line ups for all of the attractions were 10min or less wait time, many things were walk-ons.

I would definitely get a party ticket. The parties go on rain or shine. It would be a shame if it rained throughout the entire thing and the fireworks and parade couldn't go, but FL rain tends to rain in shorter spurts if anything.

I've already for a ticket booked for both the MNSSHP and MVMCP this year. I timed my trip so that I could hit both parties in one go!

Florida rain fall is different from say our rain fall here in New England. It comes in spurs a lot of the time and not long lasting, but of course that's not "always" the case and sometimes they too have those "rainy" days. We always travel to Florida in the end of sept/first week of Oct., we have never had an issue with rain other then 1 time on our past trip. The one day we had rain at night was the day we had party tickets! Go figure right! The party went on but it was very very delayed, the parade was put off an hour and we left after that so I'm not sure what happened with the fireworks. But it did even that night stop raining and was only a spur of it off and on for a little while and by 8-9 was completely done but the grounds were soaked. Anyway even then we didn't regret anything and it was hot as anything even in oct. So it wasn't a bad cool off. We did miss the fireworks (if they ended up having them that night) but weve been to MNSSHP before so it wasn't the end of the world to us, but if we were first timers I may have felt differently.

But all in all, the dozens of trips during this time frame we have never had an issue with rain or parties other then that 1 time! And hurricane threats have never effected our trips thus far. I would say go for it ;) everything can't be perfect but it's worth a shot and it'll probably turn out good, it's such a slim chance that it doesn't! And that's my personal experience.

If your really worried over rain that much maybe try for later nov/dec when the rain fall is lesser of a threat but I truly don't think you'll have much of an issue if any with sept/oct :) enjoy!!

Btw the party is super fun, cute, we love it!

Oh and as for crowds, the crowds on party nights are lesser then regular park days anyways but if you stay away from friday night parties you should have a pretty good party night crowd wise. Although we always attend the Friday night party during our stay and never feel like the party is overly crowded, always feels just right. Short lines for rides, characters though can have long lines.

You can't go wrong with either one. I am doing MVMCP this year and MNSSHP next year.

You have to watch if you go in November though if you like park decorations. With American thanksgiving late in November the parks are not usually decorated by mid November.

I'm planning on attending the first MVMCP November 7, won't the Christmas decorations be up by then? Would be weird to be at a Christmas party and everything was still decorated with Fall/Halloween decorations

Don't worry they start decorating the parks for Christmas on Nov. 1st. I know this because when we went in 2012, I was there from Oct 26th-Nov.3rd and the day after Halloween they started taking all the fall decorations down immediately and replacing them with christmas stuff. We were walking through downtown disney and they were already putting up several xmas trees around the stores.

Yup.

They don't do any MVMCPs without Christmas decorations :)

While it's true that the full scope of decorating all of WDW is gradual, MK is definitely "done up" for the first Party.

I have done the Xmas party 4 times, but will be doing the halloween party for the first time this year. The Xmas party is amazing, and I'm hoping the halloween version packs the same punch. Very excited about the parade and the headless horseman.

I am an ENORMOUS fan of the Christmas Holidays. My birthday is in early December so as a kid growing up, it just became my favorite time of year. That being said, I think the Halloween Party doesn't just meet the Christmas Party, it exceeds it.

Off topic, but I am also in mandeville!! My husband is a triathlete as well, I bet y'all have run into each other before! I guess it is a small world after all lol! Geaux tigers!

Following. We are planning to go to MVMCP and I was concerned about the crowds. I will most likely go regardless. We love Christmas so we are looking forward to it!

Party crowds on most days are really, really light. Because the park closes at 7pm for those that do not have a ticket alot of people chose another park that day.

And yes, it sure is a small world.

:goodvibes
