I just purchased tickets for our first MNSSHP and we're so excited that our kids are finally going to be able to trick or treat in less five winter coats. :)

I bought "Disney" costumes for my children but it appears that now my son refuses to dress in the one I bought him. Before I had even booked the trip, DH and I told him he could go out on Halloween night as Bob the Builder (again-arghhh). Now he thinks he can go as Bob the Builder for the party. He was so sweet about it and I'm having such a hard time. I'm just tempted to let him go as Bob...

Wouldn't it be so "anti-Disney" though :) to let him dress in a costume other than that?

Has anyone ever gone as "non-Disney" characters? Now, keep in mind my peanuts are 4, not teenagers. :):) Also, for safety sake, how is it possible to keep track when there are 500 Cinderellas walking around?

Dh and I went last year and we saw all kinds of non disney costumes

I think Bob the builder is adorable

There is NO problem not having a Disney costume. If that is what he wants to be and you are OK with that choice let him go as Bob the Builder.

NOBODY will even give a second look or think any less of it. The first two times our daughter did the Disney costume, but she just didn't want to do the Disney costume last year.

He will be fine...and cute...as Bob the builder :sunny: Last year my DD8 dressed up as a monster bride (not too scary) and it was fine. :cool1:

My kids are going as characters that are on the Disney channel but not "Disney." DS will be the Green Mystic Force Power Ranger and DD is going as DeeDee Doodle from the Doodlebops. Cannot wait!!

Bob the Builder is a cute one! Let him wear it and enjoy!

We've been lots of times and never worn Disney costumes. We tend to like costumes that are "Halloweeny". Last year, my little guy was a scarecrow. This year, he's going to be a ghost.

I am actually looking forward to seeing the kids that are dressed as something different other than princesses, pirates, and the wide variety of Pooh & Disney characters.

I think that the party needs a Bob the Builder. Bob's a handy kinda guy and I am sure that he would be a great asset to the party. Who knows, he might get ask to lend a hand and help turn out the lights before the fireworks because he has great fix-it skills.

Just try to remember, he will always remember that he got to go wearing the costume that he wanted to wear. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a big battle for you as a parent. He is asking for a simple desire to be fulfilled that is not illegal, immoral, or fattening. Let him have this one. Now, be prepared to have the costume that you would like for him to wear available too. Sometimes kids do change their minds at the last minute. I just don't see this as something to be terribly upset over. Just breath......let the magic happen. :wizard: Maggie

ITA!

We are going for the first time and wearing scrubs!

MY DS6 is going as a train engineer! I think that going in whatever the kids and want and having a good time is just what Walt himself would have wanted! :) So go and have a blast!

He will enjoy the party alot more if he is dressed the way he wants to be. We saw plenty of 'non disney' costumes at the party and even more with no costume at all. My DS-11 refuses to wear one, even a halloween type tshirt. That's Ok, he is going as himself...
Have a great time! We are going on Oct 2

Can we fix it? Yes we can...! Of course I have to say that my son looks absolutely adorable in this costume. :)

My daughter who is also 4yo could care less. Cinderella, Snow White, Tinkerbell??? She said ok to any of them. She's SOOO easy going...my son on the other hand - METICULOUS about what he's wearing, how his hair looks, etc...

Hmmm....wonder if I could blame his dad. :rotfl2: Now DH and I are trying to decide if we'll dress up. Probably just a set of Mickey Ears.

WE'RE SO EXCITED!!!

My DD also 4 is going as a cowgirl..non disney. Ands dad and I are thinking of being native americans. I see nothing wrong with being something other than a disney costume :)

Awww a Bob the Builder costume would be too cute! And all other kids will be so jealous because their parents wouldn't let them do something "non disney" :)

You will have so many bigger battles to fight with your kids. Bob the builder will be fine, he'll have a great time and think of how much less stressful things will be because you're not arguing or angry.
