MNSSHP? Has anyone ever gone BOTH a Sunday and Friday night?

Hi all. Looking for opinions from anyone who's gone to both a Friday and Sunday night MNSSHP. We went last year on a Friday night and thought it was crowded; wondering if going on Sunday would be better... thanks for any comments!

Fridays are always more crowded than other nights and some Fridays, especially near the end of the month, sell out. It brings out the locals.

Sunday, being a school/work night, will be less crowded.

Last year for MNSSHP Halloween was on a Friday so it was VERY crowded...probably more crowded then Halloween night when it falls on a week night.

I've gone to MNSSHP on both Fridays and Sundays, and I find Sundays to be a lot less crowde. Fridays can be an absolute zoo.

The one thing other thing I found different was that there were fewer adults wearing costumes on Sunday nights. So until the party got into full swing last year, we heard an awful lot of comments about our costumed family. I and my daughter had gone as mother/daughter vampires and my niece and nephew went as Wilma and Fred Flintstone.

I'll share a cute story about last year's MNSSHP. There was another family all in costume......Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The wife, who was pregnant, was the witch and she had made a costume whereby her belly was the apple. The kids were the dwarfs and one of the brother-in-laws was the prince.

But, the best costume of all was the husband.......he was Snow White in full dress costume black wig and all. When we first met this family, the Snow White (the husband) turned to my nephew (Fred Flintstone) and said "I bet you think you look stupid".

It was truly a Disney moment.

We went on both Friday and Sunday this past October. Oddly, I found just the opposite. Friday was less busy and less people dressed. Sunday was busier and more people dressed. Go figure! I thought it would be the opposite. We went the third week of October.

We actually found it was great to do both nights. Friday we spent most of our time doing the activites and a few rides. On Sunday, we did the opposite. Spent most of the night on the rides and did only those activities we throughly enjoyed. We did not use a park hopper ticket on Sunday. Spent the morning at the resort pool and headed to MK around 4:00 and did PS at LTT around 5:15. Worked out perfectly. It actually turned out cheaper because the cost of MNSSHP ticket was clearly cheaper than using a day on the hopper.

Thank you for the great replies. And especially for the one about going BOTH Sunday and Friday nights, a great idea!

If you were going to be there the whole week anyway, would it be worth going BOTH Sunday and Friday? Or is once enough? (Yes, I tend to go overboard on everything, lol, drives DH nuts!)

I have been to both. In 2002 we went on a Sunday and it was walk on for all rides. In 2003 we went on a Friday and was a zoo! This year we will go on a Sunday again and for even more pleasure we are taking the cherubs with us instead of going on a mini romantic getaway alone!

I DEFINITELY think it'd be worth going twice and I've almost convinced DH of this although he thinks dressing up the kids just one of the nights is probably a good idea. Thanks!

We went twice last year on a Friday and Sunday. Since this was our first time, I didn't want to miss anything. We had a blast both times, but still did miss some things. Not a big deal since we're going back this year.:D

I didn't think either day was very crowded. At least compared to normal park hours.

I have to agree it's worth going both nights. It was our first MNSSHP and even though we went twice, we still did not get to see and do everything we'd hope we could. I guess if anything, we would have seem some things "twice" and really taken in all the festivities. MK closes so early in October (and so do most of the other parks) that it was a chance to get more bang for the buck so to speak. Spending money on the tickets was definitely better than hanging around the resort or DTD (not that I don't enjoy doing that). I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks! If next year's schedule looks anything like this year's (and last year's) I will be there for two MNSSHPs and I will definitely consider attending both!

That's a great idea... maybe the first night for dressing up and enjoying the trick or treatin' and kids activities and the second night for the rides. Thanks!

I have a similar dilemma as we will be at wdw over Columbus Day weekend. According to the "non-official dates so far" I have a choice of Friday night the 8th or Tuesday night the 12th. My inclination is to do Tuesday but our flight leaves pretty early on Wed am and I don't think my 7 and 9yo's could handle it. I imagine the 8th to be pretty crowded though due to the Columbus day crowds as well as local visitors.

Does anyone have any Columbus Day experience or advice?

TJ

TJ: That was the Friday night we went last year and I thought it was extremely crowded, hence my original post about whether something other than a Friday would be better. We had been at Disney all week and definitely by Friday it was much busier with people coming in for the long Columbus Day weekend. Anyway, I would probably do one of two things in your case. If you go Friday just decide ahead of time what's most important for you to do and concentrate on that. And definitely read beforehand all the great tips here on the DIS. If you decide to go Tuesday, maybe plan on not staying the entire evening so as to make your early flight on Wednesday. I'd probably still go on the Tuesday because most of the weekend crowd should be gone by then. Enjoy!

We went on Sunday Oct 5 last year and it wasn't crowded at all. We had the area in front of City Hall practically to ourselves for the second parade.

Am I correct that you do not need a park hopper to attend the party, that the admisson ticket is all that is needed. I know. I should know this, but I am drawing a blank! thanks.

While we are on this topic of Fridays and Sundays--what about Sunday vs. Wed. I know this is all supposition but I need someone else's opinion. DH will just say, "whatever you think, honey" :(

We will be there the 10th thru the 22nd. I am thinking the 1st week will be more crowded due to Columbus Day crowds. And of course I didn't even think about this when I booked our resort last week. The 14th is my birthday but that is Columbus week. So I was thinking of the 17th (Sunday) or the 20th (Wed.) I am thinking Wed. will be better. Any of you have an idea?
