For MNSSHP, are there a lot of kids in non-Disney related costumes, or do most kids go with Disney themed costumes?

We're going with our Nephews next week, and although I was hoping they'd want to wear Disney themed costumes at Disney, they want to wear the costumes they've picked for Halloween. I'm sure there will be lots of Disney costumes, but I was wondering how many non-Disney themed costumes we'll also see.

Thanks!

You'll see plenty of people with non-Disney costumes. There is quite a mixture of Disney costumes, non-Disney costumes, and people who don't dress up at all.

From my past two years of going, I've seen a mixture of both, but seems like a higher percentage of the costumes are disney related. I will be there tomorrow night at the party! Can't wait!!! Both my boys (4 & 2) are dressing as Buzz Lightyear.

we fly in the afternoon of the 31st and didn't want the hassle of a big bulky princess costumes. My dd will be tired enough w/o a big costume. From what I have been reading, there are a good mix of costumes

When I went on Oct 3rd there were alot of non Disney costumes. My family for one did not have Disney.

My son was a football player wife was cheerleader I was a referee and my mom wore a football mask :).

So just pick something you like and have a blast :)

We were at MNSSHP on Oct. 10 and it was great! Big mix of costumes both Disney and non. We didn't want to pack the stuff either so here is what we did: we stayed at the Poly and they gave us leis upon ck in, plus you could make bracelets in the lobby. Daughter made ankle/wrist bracelets, wore a tank top and a shawl type coverup from the waist down and voila - Hawaiian costume! I wasn't so creative and just wore a Walmart $5 Halloween t-shirt. 6yr old had a blue jumper w/white blouse for Belle. (with a longer slip underneath). 8yr old boy was a pirate with a bandanna on his head and an eyepatch with cutoff shorts and tshirt. Nothing elaborate as you can see. There were a few costumes that were REALLY elaborate! I just couldn't see using the packing space for that much. Plus, remember the Florida weather - hot/humid and you need the ability to move around easily and don't want anything real cumbersome.

We were also at MNSSHP and saw a mix of costumes, as well as non-costumed guests. Very big on princesses, from the mega expensive disney issue to the homemade types, as well as many little sweeties in their princess nighties! DD wore a gypsie get up and I was a jester- polo shirt with felt triangles sewn around the neck with a felt light up jester hat from Oriental trading. Original inspiration was an Esmerelda/jester thing, but colors weren't right. PLEASE REMEMBER IT'S VERY HOT IN FLORIDA!!!!! I cannot tell you how many kids I saw dressed if full fake fur- Simba, Nala, Beast, Care Bear. It was 88 degrees in Orlando that day, 77 at 1 a.m. when we got home from MNSSHP. Kids can dehydrate sooooo quickly. I was shocked/horrified at the short-sightedness of some parents, dressing their kids in costumes designed for New England. It was almost abusive....parents in shorts and tank tops, kids in fleece and fake fur, with head coverings and masks to boot!
