MNSSHP Costumes Anyone?

We went on October 7th for an all girls weekend, there were 6 of us, and had a great time and are going back this year. I plan on being the "Redhead" from Pirates of the Caribbean (but I need to get a good picture of her to make the costume) and my dd is not sure what she wants to be yet (she was the Corpse Bride this past MNSSHP) I love Halloween, its my favorite holiday. This year my dh and ds will be going to the party with us but I don't know if I can get them into costumes!

We have been planning since the night of our last visit. BUT RUMOR HAS IT>>>that adult guests in "Disney character costumes" will have a LARGE sticker stuck to their chest to let everyone know they are not a CM. We are horrified by this. I hope you will all join me in contacting Disney to not do this. I suggest that they give the costumed CM's a matching item, like a mask or hat of specific color so they can be recognized. Basically posting a "scarlet letter" on the guests isn't really very nice and I spent a lot on my costume last year and wouldn't have wanted it to be ruined. If I had arrived at the park and this had happened, I probably would have had a big argument with a CM to get a refund.

I've been think about this, too! I was shopping in the Disney store and found a Peter Pan costume on Clearance in DS size. He loved it and I only paid $5 for it. Only problem, now he wants me to be Tinkerbell! I definitely need to lose the weight first! Thank God for Weight Watchers. :yay:

We saw a family at a local Halloween carnival dressed as a Star Wars Family. DH could NOT stop laughing at Darth Vader pushing a stroller! :lmao: Dad was Darth, Mom was Princess Leia, Son was a young Jedi (in brown--Anakin?), and baby was Yoda.

It was very cute, but, I'm telling ya, seeing Darth push a stroller really reduced the fear factor. :rotfl2:

Last Halloween, DS5 was Capt Hook. I suggested DH be Peter Pan--to which he responded "As soon as you are Tinker Bell!" Since neither of us thought we'd look good in tights ( :earseek: ) we opted out. Even Weight Watchers couldn't make me into Tinker Bell!

Years ago I bought a discounted adult-sized Sorcerer's Apprentice costume. We're trying to come up with a theme for the other two of us. I've thought about making me a broom costume with some hula skirts. . . Any suggestions?

Hmmm, wonder what they would say about my Malificient costume?? Guess I could count on getting that sticker slapped on. It is a Disney costume after all. Maybe too hot for it....we'll have to see.

Oh what a great thread! :thumbsup2

We are from the UK, have been to WDW 5 times (just did Xmas) but this year will be our very first visit for the Halloween Party and we just can't wait! :Pinkbounc

DH can't come due to work commitments, so it's just the 3 of us, I have 2 children DS aged 12 and DD aged 16. Haven't a clue what we are going to wear, will have to get our thinking caps on. :confused3

Halloween over here is just not celebrated like it is in the US, so we are very excited about have a 'proper' Halloween and I'm hoping to get tickets for MNSSHP on Halloween Night! :cheer2:

Well, i just got a Maleficent costume from ebay, i put it on and the feeling was not there. So it looks like I will be selling it back. :( I will be going to 2 MNSSHP partys, so thinking about going as my twist of a 50's Mouseketeer, with a poodle skirt, cat eye glasses, saddle oxfords, mickey ears, etc. and my second costume, trying to decide between 2 costumes of Willy Wonka (aka Wilma Wonka) or a Pirate. Maybe going towards the pirate more since the 2nd POC movie will be coming out this year.... man too many decisions!! hehe

Here is a pic of my Wonka costume from last year. We had a costume contest at work.

This will be our 2nd MNSSHP and my boys are very excited! They had so much fun when we did it in 2004!

We are taking the IL's so I am making halloween T's for all of us.... no way will I be able to get mil, fil or dh into a costume! My 12yo hasn't decided on a costume yet but my youngest is going to be Prince Philip since I spent so many hours to make the costume for last halloween!.... Tells me apparently I am his Princess Aurora even if I won't wear a costume!!
The horse puppy is not included though.... he gets to play at the kennel.. he ate his costume anyway!!

I like the 2004 and 2005 pics in your signature. Funny how one of the in the pic is wearing the EXACT same oufit a year later posing for the same pic.

What a fun thread! We're really looking forward to our first MNSSHP this year!! :teeth:

It's only hubby & me & I'd love to go as some sort of Disney Duo - just haven't decided which one yet! I have a Tigger costume that I've been wearing for years to pass out candy on Halloween, but I'm worried it'll be too hot at the beginning of October to wear such a heavy costume around the MK. Does anyone have experience with this? Am I better off wearing a cooler costume??

Keep the great ideas coming! :teeth:

Great thread!! It's DH and I and this will be our second MNSSHP...we're super excited! Not sure what our costumes will be yet though...still thinking :)

There will be four of us going this year! I'm hoping to get everyone dressed up as the people from Clue!

we were there in October for it and there were six of us and we went as The Wizard of Oz. I was Dorothy. At first I felt silly but we had a lot of fun.. Im glad I dresses up, even though I was reluctant. It wsa great

YES!!! You will need a "less heat oppressive" costume (I won't say "cooler" b/c I think having a tigger costume is pretty cool!)

Temperatures that time of the year run 85 - 90 degrees in daylight, and not so cool at night that the tigger would be comfortable. (It's not the AZ 120 in the shade, but it is humid, which almost makes up for it.) You will :faint: if you are wearing polyester fleece in FLA at that time!

My son was Mickey last year and he was way too hot!!

Thanks GeorgiaAristocrat & doberlady! I figured it would be too hot for my Tigger costume - I'd love to get a picture of me in my Tigger costume w/Tigger!! :rotfl2:

We've been to WDW twice in September & I didn't figure the beginning of October would be much cooler. I'm on a mission to find a fun & "cooler" costume for MNSSHP! :wizard:

I was thinking of dressing up as one of the dolls in IASW...maybe hula dancer, china doll, or Paris can-can dancer. I would probably have to spend a lot of time explaining costume to everyone though.

I just bought my costume today! I am going as Minnie, I got the costume on sale at Disneyshopping.Com, my DBF is going as Jack Sparrow. He is so excited!
