What kind of candy has historically been offered for trick or treating?

Good stuff or smarties galore?

The times we've gone, we've gotten good stuff. Snickers, M&Ms, Heath bars, Milky Way, Twix, Skittles... but also some Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, fruit snacks, Twizzlers, Laffy Taffy. My kids still talk about the last time we were there - we were leaving right at midnight and there were CMs with a huge treasure chest full of Halloween Peeps right by the turnstiles and they told us to get as many as we wanted. I hate Peeps, so I got none, but my sons got quite a few.

I love peanut M&Ms and one of the CMs in a trick-or-treat line gave me a bunch of them when I asked for them. Even after we came home 3 days later, we weighed what we had left and we still had 13 lbs of candy!

The MNSSHP maps were published today, and some of the treat stations have sponsors. I can't remember them all, but Peeps was one of them (in Adventureland, I believe) and Craisins were another, I think in tomorrwland.

trick or treating at MNSSHP is such a waste of precious time, imho.

We will have two young kids and characters don't really interest us so Hallowishes, the Boo to You Parade, rides, and trick or treating are our priorities. Especially since the kids won't be home on Halloween to go trick or treating. We may hit up the Hocus Pocus thing too.

How long does trick or treating at a trick or treating stop take? Does it eat up a lot of time? My kids want to do some trick or treating at the party...

I looked at the map and I think I counted 14 candy stops (I could be wrong but that sounds about right, I didn't memorize the number) so I can't imagine it takes too long unless there is a line for candy.:confused3

I thought the same thing, and had prepped my kiddo, letting him know that we weren't going to worry about trick or treating bc we could just buy a bag of candy that we like. He was fine with that....but when we were actually there, the lure of tick or treating was too great. We ended up going to each treat stop that we walked past. It didn't rally take long...maybe a minute or two per station. At one point, DS and I were waiting on my husband to use the restroom near a treat station...so my son just kept trick or treating until DH joined us again!

Anyway, I would caution parents of youngish children to plan some time for trick or treating. Your kiddo is going to want to, and how can you tell them no to trick or treating at MNSSHP?

Right? Call me childish but the thought of trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom is half the draw for me.

SMARTIES!!!!!! LOVE THEM!!!! When my parents and I went years ago, we went to most of the stations, and we had SO MUCH CANDY left over, cuz we each had at least 2 trick or treat bags each......so fun!

We always go with friends from the UK for whom trick or treat is a novelty. I have to constantly remind myself that friendship takes precedence over riding Big Thunder 17 times in a row :rolleyes1

Agreed!

But, based on my one MNSSHP experience, the longest lines candy seemed to be the beginning of the event. Towards the end there were shorter lines and CM's were more generous with the candy.

Good tip, thank you.

That is exactly what we have found at past MNSSHPs. We always wait towards the end of the night to do the trick or treating, unless we are walk down a pathway and happen to come upon a station, then we will stop there (BTW it will only take a few minutes even if the line is long, the CMs are very good at handing out the candy). My kids are 14 and 12 and one of the things they look forward to doing at the party is the trick or treating....just like a PP said, who can resist trick or treating in the MK, I often find myself joining in on the festivity :goodvibes.
