MNSSHP Candy

We will trick or treat later in the night so we don't have to lug all the kids' candy arounD. I'll let them make one or two stops if they need a sugar rush to keep going... lol

We always go with friends from the UK for whom trick or treat is a novelty. I have to constantly remind myself that friendship takes precedence over riding Big Thunder 17 times in a row :rolleyes1
Your a awesome friend.:yay:

We went last year and it poured during the whole evening. So, the later parade (that we planned to watch) was cancelled and it was just dismal and cold :( But we did still get to T or T and gather some candy lol! When we got back to the resort we had to lay the candy out on a towel to dry it all and see what was edible afterward. My son is 9 and had a great time trick or treating, and I'm a chocoholic so I was thrilled to get some too, and my DH even went through the lines with us. They do really well as far as keeping the lines moving quite quickly - very well organized. I think Pete's Silly Sideshow was handing out the Werther's - BUT - one of the other lines was moved there too due to the rain so it may have been the Ariel line that gave it out? Not sure on that, but the candy was great!

Right? Call me childish but the thought of trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom is half the draw for me.

Call me childish too. I love the trick or treating! Candy + Magic Kingdom = A magical time!

Do they supply or do you have to bring your own treat bags to fill up?
They will give you a bag when you enter, but if you need another (which sometimes you do) just ask a cast member at one of the trick or treat stations, they will usually have extra

How has no one mentioned the caramel apple werthers?!? I could trick or treat at Pinnochios all night for those babies.
Those are delicious! Definitely a station we visit more than once each party!

trick or treating at MNSSHP is such a waste of precious time, imho.

I find this hilarious given how many people will spend literally hours of the party waiting in lines to get their pictures snapped with college kids wearing costumes. And having "meaningful" interactions with them, I guess, if that's your thing. For me, candy is real and it delivers every time and five minutes is not too much time to waste. The trails move quickly when people are waiting 1.5 hours of precious time to get a photo with people dressed up as the seven dwarfs.

This is from a few years ago, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect. It is definitely good candy.

Do the kids get to choose or do the CM's put it in their bag? DS has nut allergies so it makes trick or treating difficult. *sigh*

okay, but if he grabs 20 pieces of candy he can't eat, does city hall replace all of them? It really doesn't matter to me, but I want to know the answer before so I can prepare DS for what will happen. Less chance of a sad kid that way! Halloween isn't the easiest of holidays for him seeing all the other kids getting tons of candy and he can only eat some of it.

How long does trick or treating at a trick or treating stop take? Does it eat up a lot of time? My kids want to do some trick or treating at the party...
We spend maybe 30 minutes of our whole night trick or treating and always leave with completely full bags. Especially toward the end of the night - it's like tthey are making sure you have a full bag - lots of handfuls!

Do they supply or do you have to bring your own treat bags to fill up?
They give you a bag as you enter. If you feel like you need a bigger bag, you could bring your own...but they are very generous with the candy - we still have a bag from last year.

Looks like Dove chocolate is replacing Ghirardelli this year. I like both, but my daughter loves Dove so she will be super happy.

We always trick or treat. My DD isn't as big into most of the characters so we don't spend that much time doing that. At least we haven't in the past. Who knows now. LOL

I will be attending the party with a 7 year old and a 1 year old. Will I be frowned upon if I go in line with my 1 year old and get candy? :D

The 1st party we went to was just me and my sister - we didn't have any kids with us that year and we went to every station and got tons of candy! Sometimes we go to all stations and T or T and other times, we just run through the line when we want a snack!

Fun, Fun, Fun!!

Do you have to be dressed up to trick or treat? (Not sure if just the kids are going to dress up or if DH and I are too)
