Hi.
I booked a full trip for my friends, their adult kids and their grandchildren for September 10-17, 2016.
Last weekend, when I was going over their itinerary (they didn't even know where there where staying, said couldn't remember OMG), they asked if they needed to pack their Trick or Treat bags for the kids.

Can someone please let me know about above.

Thank you.

If you are attending MNSSHP they will give you a small candy bag when you get your party wristband. They aren't that big so some people like to bring something larger if they are going to really hit the candy stops. They will give you additional bags if you need them too.

I've never been but I'm going this year. From everything I've read, they hand out small bags. I bought my kids 2016 Halloween tote bags off of the Disney Store website. They were $4.95 each and I had some type of coupon. They're light and easy to pack just in case we need them.

It really depends on how interested you are in the candy. The small bags don't hold that much, but DD has always been far more interested in the characters, shows, parades, etc. than trick or treating. We used to go through one or two trick or treat places at the end of the night when there were no lines. (The lines can be long at the beginning of the night). Last year, she did go through several lines toward the end of the night and her bag was full (I think they tend to throw more candy in the bag at the end of the night- especially if it is a kid who has a bag that doesn't have much in it). Basically, it sat in the room, no one ate much of it (we were never in the room, and we were eating all the treats Disney had to offer such as desserts at meals, snacks in the parks, etc.)- and no one wanted to have to pack it in the carry on to bring it home and we figured it would have melted in the checked bags, so it all got left in the room. The little bag is fine for us. Plus, I can shove it in my purse until DD actually goes through a line. In addition to the little bags, if you get there and they are really interested in the trick or treating, you can always just get a regular shopping bag from one of the shops to hold it-- or they also have totes for sale and light up pumpkins. The light up pumpkin doesn't hold much more candy than the little bag they give you (the light up mechanism takes a good chunk of the inside. It isn't really good for neighborhood trick or treating at home unless you just go to a few houses as it fills up fast. DD fell in love with it a couple of years ago and had to have one- more to carry around than to actually use for trick or treating. We use it as a decoration at our house instead of for trick or treating-we put it in a window. We really like it for that purpose. So, there are options without bringing your own, even if you don't use the little bag they give you.

We just like to get the bags and tuck them away and do everything else. We may hit up the candy at the end of the night when the lines are non-existent but we won't waste our time. If you want to do the candy, the bags are the perfect size, you really don't get too much.

Yeah, the lines are long early. I usually hit it later. I've never filled a bag either, but I do like to get a little candy to munch on. If they have those green apple Werther's ones I'll make multiple runs at those! Make no mistake though, if you are determined, you can leave with a LOT of candy. They give out the good stuff too.

you don't need to bring a bag for the kids. The bags are smaller but they are a good size for the weight a smaller child could carry.. disney will give you another one if you fill it.. (they hand them out at the trick or treat spot so nowhere extra to head too).

Now as a parent you might want a mostly empty backpack or similar with you to carry them around after they fill it up or if you are going to get one some rides to keep it safe.

Now those sound tasty - I got some nasty coffee flavored one last year lol.

They were giving them out at Village Haus one year for MNSSHP. It was like a sponsored treat trail and they only gave you a handful of the Werther's. You can buy them too, but where's the fun in that? They are delicious!

Those sound tasty - I'll keep my eyes open for them. Sort of similar to the caramel apple suckers you can buy, those are tasty in an appletini - not that I would know.

We're all about the candy. I stopped at Meijer and got cheap Halloween themed bags made out of canvas. Is it necessary? No. Is it easier? I think so. You'll be fine either way.

:thumbsup2 THIS - bringing a empty backpack, or we just throw in an empty string bag to put the candy bags in to prevent spilling - and to free the hands to get more candy!

You could bring a bag, or every single store in magic kingdom will give you a shopping bag if you ask

Like some PP I have taken an empty backpack to dump our candy bags into. It was especially great the year it rained, as the bags they hand out are paper and not so good when wet. It's also easier to just carry around a backpack instead of a bag in hand.

The bags they hand out are heavy plastic. We have kept all of ours over the years. They usually are promo for a new movie.

We also just dump into a backpack if they become full. But even full, it's a good bit of candy.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to write out your detailed responses. I greatly appreciate it. Being that this is their first big trip (8 of them) I told them Disney will supply the bags. Ttere are six adults and two kids in strollers. They can dump the candy in the stroller or use the adult bags if needed or as you have said even ask for more.

Thank you all again!!

I put a gallon ziplock in my backpack. I just emptied the little bag into my ziplock periodically and carried it around in my backpack, I wouldn't have to mess with holding a heavy full bag in my hands. Worked great. I think I went home with a completely full ziplock that equaled about a bag and a half of candy. Not too big for the luggage but enough to take home to share with the family. I probably could have gotten more but honestly I just hit each trail as I made a circuit of the park and that was plenty of candy.
