She's quite keen on the idea of dressing up for next October-

However, has no interest in meeting characters.
She loves food though

Would it still be a good idea?

What does "85dmil" mean? (Is it an 85 year old daughter's mother in law?)

I've seen guests of all ages dress up at MNSSHP. So if she wants to, I see no reason why she couldn't dress up for MNSSHP (following the dress guidelines, of course).

Plenty of guests do not meet the characters, so I don't think that really matter if she wants to dress up.

Food is a lot of fun, and for the last few years they've had some party specific treats. I enjoyed trying several of them this year, but the trick is to make a list beforehand so you know exactly where you want to go to get a specific treat so you don't waste time hunting for items.

She is super excited.

Well, I'd come up with some of Disney's older female characters and see what she feels might work for her. Will you be sewing a costume or putting one together from ready made things?

Mother Willow from Pocahatas
Cruella DeVille (she just seems old) -other group members could be Dalmations
the witch from Beauty and the Beast

Of course you don't have to limit her to older characters. Ask her who she'd like to be.

We went, and didn't meet any characters, and my son was 8! LOL! He just didn't want to, so we did the candy thing and the ride thing all night long and he had a blast

Absolutely! We didn't meet any characters during one of our parties this year. Except for Jack Sparrow, but that's just because he photo bombed our PotC on fire magic shot. The parade and fireworks are worth the price of admission for us.

The parties fun no matter what i'd say even if its just to be there while less people are in park. I have gone in early october and on halloween and had fun times each time and i only really did 1 or 2 m&g or rides.
