MNSSHP and CG

Has anyone here done both the same night? I had planned to do this last year but ended up canceling the reservation because I was worried about the dress code and being too casual from walking around the parks. I also wasn't sure about missing a huge chunk of the party.

Then I ended up regretting it because we got done with the party early anyway.

We're waiting to hear if DH has more vacation time, and if we were to go, today is the 90 day mark, so I am thinking about going ahead and making reservations just in case. I'd like to do MNSSHP the day we arrive so I thought I would try for CG that night, but wanted some input from others who have done this.

We'd probably eat around 8pm, so we would be leaving the park and going back after dinner.

Dinner at Cali Grill will be at least 1 1/2 hrs. The party starts at 7:00. So if it were me I would eat at 5 or not plan these 2 for the same night.

I'm confused. You want to buy $50 tickets for the MNSSHP which starts at 7:00p and then run over to CG for dinner around 8:00p and then go back to MNSSHP again after dinner?????

I'm sorry but it makes no sense to me. The party is way too expensive to leave for a long meal at CG. You'd miss most of the party....but maybe I am mis-reading your post???? :confused3

I would have a very early dinner at CG (4:30 or 5) and then head to the MK for the party. Why waste your money on the party ticket if you won't even be there?

Well, I am not 100% sure if we will be going to the party or not. It's just DH and I and we do not do face painting, dance parties etc. We do enjoy the trick or treating and the lack of lines on the rides as well as people watching everyone in costume. So leaving the park for 90+ minutes is not that big a deal to us. We usually arrive at 4pm to start riding the rides anyway. We've never stayed for the whole party, so I don't see it as wasting our money if we don't do all of the activities.

There is no way we would eat early.

I wouldn't do them the same night. In my mind both experiences are 'events'. Dining at the California Grill will be a fun date night, if it were me I'd want to do that on a 'down' day, or at the very least after a 'down' afternoon. I like taking my time to get ready, dressed up, etc, before going out to eat at a Signature. That's just our group though, YMMV.

Likewise, MNSSHP is an event for us. We have an easy morning, get dressed for the party (even if it's a fun Halloween T-Shirt for adults) and then head to the park for that experience.

Doing both on the same night, for me, would somehow diminish the specialness of both events.

If it's the only night that you can do both on your trip, and you don't want to choose one experience over the other, then I'd go for it.

If there's any way to separate the events, then I'd do them on different nights.

Well, then I highly doubt you're going to get very many responses of folks who have done what you are asking for opinions on. Like I said the party has so much going on and is SO expensive, very few, if any guests would leave at 7:45p for an ADR and then come back around 10:30p to finish up the party.

You'd probably miss both parades and you'd have to see the fireworks from a distance.

I'm not sure what you'd get out of the party if you are gone from 7:45p to 10:30p???

But if you don't think it's an issue or a problem, then just go for it.

Honstly to me this makes no sense. But you have to do whatever works for you.

I would much rather do an Evening EMH at MK but there are none when we are there. I am sure we would be back at the park before 10:30pm.

I have seen others planning on doing this, so I was wondering if anyone here had done it in the past. I'm more worried about what to wear to be comfortable in the parks and not dressed down for CG.

Keep in mind, I have been to two previous MNSSHP and I know what we like and don't like about it as well as what to see and not see. While everyone else is eating dinner at 5pm, we are riding the rides. We just go to MNSSHP that day at 4pm and don't use a regular ticket.

We have been leaving HHN to eat out at City Walk and haven't had issues with that. But that restaurant is more casual than CG.

Since it sounds like it's what you want to do, I can help with wardrobe ideas for both. :thumbsup2

It's usually still hot in October, so you'd probably be comfortable in the parks and at California Grill in a sundress.

Your DH would fit in at both the park and the restaurant in khaki shorts and a button down shirt or a polo shirt.

Like the PP said, you probably won't get a lot of advice from those that have done both, but you should do whatever it takes to make it the best vacation possible for you. If you really want to do it, I am sure that you'll have a fabulous evening doing both!
