Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on Mickey's Merry Very Christmas Party. Is it worth doing or not? It is quite pricey for hot chocolate and cookies! Would you see the identical parade if you were not to attend the party?

If we are down there when it is going on, we would never miss it. Besides that hot chocolate and cookies there is just a special feeling in the air. And I love that is snows on Main Street. We missed it last year and I really missed it.

Just before Christmas the MK night parade changes to the MVMCP parade. If you go earlier in December, MVMCP is the only way to see the special parade. We have done MVMCP 4 or 5 times now. I love that parade and I also loved the "Mickey's 'Twas the Night..." show (which has been eliminated). I may or may not go again this year. I am trying to decide whether the parade is worth the price of a ticket (nothing else at MVMCP is that important to us).

Big waste of money. Of course, it wasn't for all those people that didn't pay for the tickets and didn't get checked or asked to leave!

We did it once. I didn't think it was worth it for us. Try it once and see if you like it. It does get you access to some popular rides for extra hours without the huge crowds.

I would do it once for the parade. It is not worth it in my opinion for anything else.

When did you go that this happened? We went this past Dec and were amazed at how efficiently Disney got everyone out of the parks that did not have a wristband. Prior to the parade beginning they were going around and rounding up the people and moving them out of the park.

They even ask people who were having something to eat to please hurry up that the park was closed unless they had a wristband.

WE HAVE DONE IT A FEW TIMES. THE DAY YOUR GOING WE USUALLY DONT TO ANY PARKS AND GO TO MK AROUND 6PM. WE GOING AT THAT TIME . THEY RUN THE PARADE TWICE THE SECOND TIME THERE USUALLY ISNT MANY PEOPLE THERE(except this last dec people stayed). MOST GO AFTER FIREWORKS. WE USUALLY GO ON RIDES DURING FIRST PARADE. WE WERE ONLY ONES ON PIRATES RIDE. THE ENTERTAINMENT IS DIFERENT, FIREWORKS I THINK ARE DIFFRENT. THEY ARE VERY EFFICENT GETTING NON WRIST BAND WEARERS OUT. AT LEAST DO IT ONCE.

We have done it and loved it. We will definately do it again but will wait until our girls are older. A big negative for us is the time. Our girls are early risers (generally about 530a) therefore they are ready for bed by about 7pm - sometimes a little later. Since the MVMCP starts at 7p and goes until midnight we didn't make it past the first parade - they were both asleep one the stroller and DH holding the other:)!!! So we will do it again - when they decide that sleeping in is a good thing!!!

dvc deernut,
Love the photos, especially the tin soldiers. People think that I am kidding when I say I go to MVMCP just to see the tin soldiers. They are amazing.

For us, if we do not have APs, it is a bargain. If we have APs, not so much.
Arriving at 4 and staying until the end is plenty of park time for us. We enjoyed it very much this past Nov.

I go every year, and I love it! I love walking down Main Street with the snow falling, I really enjoy the show in front of the Castle and I love the parade. The Holiday Wishes are great too.
I generally go early in December, the crowds have not been bad at all, I enjoy the MK at night no matter what time of year but going for the MVMCP is my favorite.
I get the rides in I want to do, then I grab a spot for the parade with my hot chocolate and cookies in hand.
After the parade and fireworks, I see the shows and then go on some more attractions. I usually catch parts of the second parade and head on out.

I think it depends on how much you enjoy Christmas. (and, as mentioned, it seems during Chrismas week, the MVMCP parade and fireworks are shown to all MK guests)
Christmas is my favorite holiday, and so I enjoy MVMCP more than MMNSSHP (really enjoyed them both, but I want to do MVMCP again more than MNSSHP)
There are others that feel the other way around, and that's fine.

I think DW said it best, The longer parade an fireworks remind me of Disney when I was a kid. (When everything was so much larger than life)

MVMCP can also give you some better wait times for rides. (Because when MVMCP takes up a few evenings during the week, the remaining late EMH gets packed with people that do not want to pay for MVMCP.)

i think you will get a lot of mixed reviews.

We have done it twice now and enjoyed it. we see it as more time in the park more than anything else- with that special holiday flair.

We won't wait in line more than 20 minutes for anything- so we aren't big show people- we skip most of the holiday shows, since some had large lines to get in and a long wait (at least back when the theatre was open in TL). We do really enjoy the parade though. We usually ride rides with no lines during the first parade, catch holiday WISHES and then see the second parade, which is less crowded (10:30pm). The hot chocolate and snacks are fun. we enjoyed watching the dance parties too. Overall, we just found it fun to get some extra time in the park, since the MK closes at 7 or8pm on the other nights in early December when we go.

We will probably do it again this December too. We typically prefer the weekday parties, the weekends seem to draw bigger crowds (more locals etc.).

do it once and see how you like it.

and if you don't have a length of stay ticket, the party is a good way to get into the MK at 4pm and do something else that am (resort dining, DTD) and still get in park time.

I agree, do it at least once. It really annoys me to have to pay extra at WDW just to see a parade and some shows, which will be free for everyone during Christmas week. I guess I'm just used to Disneyland, where the special fireworks, parades, holiday entertainment, Small World Holiday, and Haunted Mansion Holiday are all free to everyone the entire Holiday season. Disneyland does a way better job with the holidays, but MVMCP should be experienced at least once.

Its an annual tradition for us. We have done it every Christmas... and for our family it is worth every penny. It's not that you get very much tangible "stuff" for the extra money, but there is something just magical about it. We always get into the Christmas spirit, and leave with a real happiness in our hearts. Hard to explain, but it's a piece of real Disney Magic.

Speaking of MMVCP I know the dates will not be published until spring, but can anyone help me estimate the start date? I am thinking it will start 11/8 this year? Anyone have another feeling??
