Mmmmmm..Sanders Hot Fudge...

Has Greektown changed, since the casinos went in?
Pontiac silverdome? See I'm so far behind. :)

Trappers Alley is no longer there but most of the restaurants are. We go down every couple of months for dinner.. Although my fav restaurant closed. But they did open a harbour House  Its still fun to walk at night and the crowd is still pretty cool.

I just went to a baby shower today and the cake was a sanders bumpy cake... :rolleyes1

Yes, travel bug, it is a LARGE jar and plenty for all. colesmom is bringing the Vernor's and Stroh's..we need someone to bring the Faygo..can you do that?

I have been in the Sander's shop on Outerdrive and Michigan Avenue. They also used to have one at Southland Mall, which is where my mom used to take me. And I remember going to Hudson's in downtown Detroit at Christmas with my mom, friend and her mom to see the floor with the Christmas decorations. Then we would have lunch in the cafeteria. No white gloves for us. The thing that sticks out most in my mind was when we went through the area for Santa, the elf handed our moms a note. On it was printed..."would you like to see the white Santa or the black Santa?" This was around 1969 or 70, and I still remember that...We were too old for Santa, so we just walked by.

I received an email the other day with old Detroit photos. My heart ached when I saw pictures of Hudson's and the BobLo boats.

I used to live in Trenton.

I'm from the downriver area, too! Grew up in Dearborn, raised my family in Woodhaven and Allen Park. Now live near Lansing.

I lived near the Sanders at Michigan and Schaefer in east Dearborn. Loved to go to the Sanders counter and enjoy a hot fudge or cream puff.

All those great memories of the Detroit area best of the best -- Sanders, Vernors, Boblo boat and island, coney islands on Michigan Avenue near Livernois, etc.

Bagley's Corner was the original name of Bloomfield Hills.
The home offices of Life Savers Candy, Beech-Nut Gum, and Squirt drinks are in Holland, Michigan.

In Sept. 1908, William C Durant organized several independent
automobile plants into what was to become General Motors.

The intersection of Woodward Avenue and Grand Avenue in Detroit
proudly displayed the world's FIRST traffic light in 1915.

You remember the Good Humor man in a white uniform, ringing the
bells as he drove down your street. :teeth:

Another memory - Good Humor! Growing up, we lived 3 houses from a large and popular park in Dearborn. My dad would let the Good Humor man park his truck in our driveway on Saturdays and Sundays, and we'd get free ice cream.

Ah, those were the days.

I am also from the downriver area...Does
anyone remeber the Towne Club Soda ??
Where you could go in and mix n match the
flavors??

Loved reading back on all the memories.

To this day, I still want a bumby cake
for my b-day. NOT the knock off imitation
ones either!!!!!

I remember Towne Club Soda. Do any of you downriverites remember the amusement park on Fort Street in the Riverivew area -- this would have been the late 50s/early 60s. I'm assuming most of you aren't that old!

Another great tasting Sanders cake was the colonial buttercream. The bumpy cake was my favorite.

I remember that little amusement park! That was the first roller coaster I ever went on, it was VERY rickety and probably dangerous..They had trampolines built into ground level...Just down the street from the Fort George Drive In. I don't remember the name.:confused3

I googled it and it says that it was on Jefferson :confused3
